I think it might be a good idea to get all the kinks out of the system with a few test runs before starting a race. I've seen a lot of ordinary livestreams go sour because of system errors they didn't foresee at the start.
As for participating myself, I have a download speed of 16.67 MB/s, an upload speed of 4.15 MB/s, and a Ping of 22ms. I don't know what ping is at all, and I'm not sure how I'd manage Legends 1 without a USB controller.

I should be available. I don't usually do things on Tuesday nights.

The trial didn't really work out. I wasn't super ready for it though. The next test will be Friday at 11:30 PST. Here's an easier way to get on IRC webchat.freenode.net/Just type in a username and put #MMLS for the channel. If you don't want people stealing your username, look here: freenode.net/faq.shtml#nicksetupEDIT: A working prototype is up at ok.maxpittsley.com/race/index.htmlAll I need to do for that to work is run the streaming commands (and for people to actually be playing). Right now everything is manual though, so I want to build myself a control panel.

Funny enough, I've been playing MML2 on ePSXe for about a week now...I would love to participate in an event like this, just let me know when you guys are ready and I'm in!

Yeah, it's been tough. The technology is pretty much all set up- the hard part is getting everybody together. I think this weekend I'll get whoever's on iScribble to try it out and then I can use whenisgood for an official race.

I still need a copy of the preconfigured program so I can actually try it. Did you get my PM?

I'll PM you guys with the version I use. As for the connection issue, I hope people without eighteen hundred dollar internet can still manage to race, what with the various connection differences and several of us being under 2MBPS in download speed for the Amsterdam Server. I'm still pretty curious of this system of yours, Qwert. I figured each of them would be an individual stream or something, but that's just my imagination.

Haha, I must've up mixed up something when I made that last post, I thought the "preconfigured" program was a streaming utility or something that was going to be of use once everyone was up and ready, not ePSXe. Sorry for any confusion guys, I actually already have ePSXe, configured with nice of pretty cartoon shaders and whatnot. I guess the only thing to do now is sit tight and wait. If anyone would like a copy of the cartoon shaders along with installation instructions (courtesy of P.E.T.E.'s plugins site) just send me a PM ;D Also, I don't think my internet will be much of a problem, hopefully everyone else is able to participate without any latency issues! And for the Amsterdam server

The program used for streaming is VLC. If you don't already have it I highly highly recommend you install it. It's the best media player ever ever! I'll be providing a "playlist" file with all of the instructions for it to connect. The system works somewhat like this:
Your computer takes a screen grab at 25fps of epsxe, compresses it to a 200kbps video and streams it to my server using UDP. My server takes that stream, re-encodes it in the same format (I wish I could re-stream without encoding but I couldn't get that to work) and provides it as an http stream. It does this with the four streams simultaneously using four separate vlc processes, and the watching page has four instances of jwplayer that watch the streams. There are also scores/stats on the page that are updated every few seconds with AJAX.

Oh okay, so you mean this one? It looks legit enough... Anyway, that setup I found tries to lure you into installing a Bing searchbar, some crap called "EpicPlay," and Jackpot Rewards. If you want just the player, the order is Accept, Decline, Decline, Decline. Just a heads up. The player itself is definitely one of the simplistic I've ever seen. It looks like it could be a good video stream manager as QWERT suggests with its "Open Capture Device" option, but I still have no clue what to do with it. Guess I'll find out tonight.
