I just forgave Capcom for cancelling Legends 3. =p www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/jul/20/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-humongous-character-leaks/So far the ABSOLUTE confirmed characters are Strider Hiryu, Firebrand, Hawkeye, and Ghost Rider. I so cannot wait to play as Hiryu again. And I REALLY can't wait to play as Phoenix Wright. ...Aww, heck, might as well play as Firebrand too. =p The game is supposed to be released in November, and on the official website, Frank West, Phoenix Wright, Nemisis, Vergil, Rocket Raccoon, Dr. Strange, Nova, and Iron Fist are not shown. Yet. But still, no Megaman. That's kind of worrying... And by the way, here's an OBJECTION! to commemorate. objection.mrdictionary.net/go.php?n=5113518(This same OBJECTION is in the forum game of the same name)

I disagree. That stuff should have all been in the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Mega Man should have as well. Along with a real story and some real cutscenes. Capcom should only release their games once in a console gen.

Well, it's kind of a "thing" with Capcom now to release Super or Hyper versions of their fighting games. My only gripe is that I may have to decide between getting UMVC3 or Sonic Generations and wait longer for whichever one I ditch (if I'm really unlucky, I may have to freaking wait until Christmas, though I doubt it).
We can't really complain about everything. I think we're lucky enough that they actually put 12(?) more characters in the game. And PW is proof that they've slightly been listening to what people want. Slightly.
I still don't know what's become of Megaman, though. IDK, I guess there could still be DLC for UMVC3. Maybe. I did read that Zero is in the game to replace Megaman, after all...
To be really frank [West], I really don't care as long as Phoenix and Hiryu are included.

Honestly, I don't think it's a 'thing' that's a good idea for them to continue. I didn't like the multi-version approach they took with Battle Network and Star Force, either. It's so obvious they're just trying to milk it for all it's worth.

Capcom's been re-releasing different versions of fighters since Street Fighter II, and not much has changed since then. Unlike other games, there's generally a need for an update over a period of time. Balance issues will happen in a fighter, and they will generally be addressed whenever a new update hits. I also hear that Capcom's fixing the online issues and everything else that was complained about a lot in the original.
The extra characters are surprising, and while Megaman didn't make it in some of the other picks are rather interesting. I didn't even know Marvel -had- a character named Rocket Raccoon...
Along with a real story and some real cutscenes Yeah, that's...probably not gonna happen at all. In a VS. game, there's never any need for a good plot or anything like that. The point of people getting the game is to have their favorite marvel/Capcom icons duel it out and team up in combat. Whatever story there is revolves around some supervillain using their powers in a way that joins the 2 worlds together, and said heroes have to stop him. There is some interesting character interaction, though.
Story's more reserved for individual franchises like Street Fighter.

I didn't even know Marvel -had- a character named Rocket Raccoon...Neither did I, and frankly I've never heard of Iron Fist or Nova either. Why do they look so similar, I wonder?

Eh, I'm not that excited about UMvC3. I was for MvC3...and then I played it. Ok, seems alright.
Then I played it some more...and more. Before I realized it, I had come across the most obvious thing about MvC3. It's boring. It's tailored towards being flashy, fast and ridiculous...and that just isn't appealing to me.
Learn these combos, and more than 90% of the time you'll win. And really, OTG? It seemed like a good idea at first, but now it's the most annoying thing ever for me.
Suffice to say, I traded MvC3 back to Gamestop for some other, more enjoyable games. I'd rather play DoA4 or SSF4. Also, did anyone notice that they announced UMvC3 the day MML3 was cancelled?
"Lets cancel this game these guys have been wanting for 11 years, and come out with another version of our latest crappy fighter with 12 new characters...and sell it at $60. Yeah, people will buy that."
Capcom just isn't worth the time anymore. But the saddest thing of all...is that people WILL be buying UMvC3 at $60, and Capcom will continue to get rich. How f**king sad is that?

I was really into the hype for MvC3, but the timing of this announcement did not sit as well with me. I have not yet forgiven them for MML3 and it's looking less and less likely that I ever will. Even without the cancellation to set the mood, I would likely still be annoyed at the news this won't be DLC. They made SSFIVAE downloadable onto SSFIV so I don't see why they can't do the same thing here. Frequent updated versions a là SF2 made more sense back in the day of arcade boxes. Nowadays it's just a dick move. The new Capcom lineup is pretty lame as well. This is coming from a guy that preached that roster complaints during MvC3's development were in poor taste because both companies had hundreds of characters that would make good fits for the game, but with only a limited number of slots, some fans were bound to be disappointed. Now when they make more room, we get a minor Gn'G enemy, a minor RE enemy, and a lawyer with zero actual fighting skills...all of which were apparently deemed more desirable than any iteration of Megaman. Christ. For what it's worth, I do like those Marvel additions. Not a single X-Man in sight, Hank Pym gets to ride along on Hawkeye's Hyper, and not one but two heroes from the cosmic family. That's pretty awesome. Too bad I probably won't ever get to play with them since most everything else about this version makes me want to avoid it like the plague. I didn't even know Marvel -had- a character named Rocket Raccoon...Neither did I, and frankly I've never heard of Iron Fist or Nova either. Why do they look so similar, I wonder? Not hearing of Rocket is understandable, but man you guys are missing out. Look for some trades of Guardians of the Galaxy if you get the chance, or the most recent release, Annihilators, which has a back-up story that stars Rocket. It's all pretty awesome (as stuff by Abnett and Lanning typically is). It's actually a bit like MML in that it's some of the most charming and lovable stories that only a sadly limited number of fans know about and enjoy. As for Nova and Iron Fist looking similar...what pictures are you looking at? One is in navy and gold armor, the other is in green and yellow spandex. I guess if you're only seeing their heads then Nova's helmet kinda covers his face the same as Fist's mask...either way rest assured you won't have any trouble telling them apart.

I think I read somewhere that UMVC3 is going to be at a low price, but I have no idea where. Just one of the many sites I visited concerning this game.

Unless Capcom has announced the retail price, I would assume those assumptions are wrong.

I must admit that I really don't understand why they're rereleasing this game with new characters, instead of having these characters in the game already or as DLCs.
I am also amazed that Nick is in the game.

Added mode: Spectator Mode (was supposed to be free DLC).
Tweaks and balancing: should be done through updates. (Mortal Kombat does it for free).
Extra characters and stages: Should offer them in sets on DLC or sell the whole bunch in a DLC bundle.
Bottom line: the retail version should be for those who has yet to buy the game. For those who has the game already, it's the biggest insult. Refusing to add this stuff to the original game and sell this is a big no. I'm not big on fighting games, but if I wanted a fighting game from Capcom, I would go for SSFIV because it has WAY more content for the same price.
Back in the days, remaking versions of the same game was acceptable because DLC and version updates didn't exists. Today, however, PS3 and XBox games can receive patches like computer games do. Nintendo's next console has been rumored to do the same as well. However, Capcom decides to stick to an archaic method to update their games which is now obsolete for the sake of money. I'm pretty sure that if UMvC3's sales bombs, they will make the extra step to offer the stuff on the original with updates and DLC to recover some cash (or simply decide to stash it and lose yet again a chunk of customers).
The fact is I don't see any other company that does this anymore (Nintendo excluded when it comes to Ocarina of Time). Capcom needs to change their methods because sooner or later, they will be left in the dust.
Oh, and just to be clear before someone brings it up: the excuse about the earthquakes being the reason why it's not coming DLC is a load. It's nothing more than an excuse to deny any responsibility. People claims that it would be more expensive to get this through DLC too. It might be the case for the single downloads. However, there's this thing called special offers. Buy the whole bundle, get a discount. Special offers occurs on PSN and XBL. If they offered the whole thing as a bundle, it would be cheaper because they wouldn't have the cost for making the disks, shippings and paying the workers.

I thought about this for a while, and realized that the whole "DLC" argument is kinda pointless. Here's the thing, assuming DLC characters are $5 each (which is what Jill and Shuma were), you'd be buying 12 of them, which is $60 alone before factoring in anything else. New stages exist, some characters get new moves (to the point of some of them being almost made over (Ryu)), balance tweaks, a HUD that looks completely different, and some graphical tweaks.
I dunno, $40 sounds like a discount to me.
Keep in mind that I do think $60 was a bit much for the original MvC3 (which seems to be agreed upon as the main problem, considering how incomplete the first one was). From what I've been hearing, though, licensing issues with Marvel and all that were the reason the game was initially rushed. It's also kind of hard to compare this to SSFIV:AE, as AE and Super are pretty much the same given some minor tweaks and 4 new characters. Heck, if you're watching gameplay there's not much to visually distinguish the 2 games at all.

I dunno, when I found out what Spectator Mode was in the first place, I literally went, "That's it?!" I mean, as far as I know, neither game has any kind of Tournament Mode, and I don't even think most gamers today know who half these characters, especially the Marvel ones, are. My mom used to be a pretty avid comic collector when she was younger and she didn't even know who Rocket Raccoon or Hawkeye were when I asked her.
If they're only adding twelve characters, four stages, and one mode (and really, for what Spectator mode is, it should seriously have been either included in the first version or added as free DLC), then they should've waited, built up a more substantial upgrade, and released that if they were doing a full-on disc release instead of using downloadable patches. The only reason I'd buy UMvC3 is if I were interested in the game and didn't already have the original, and even then I'd probably just wait it out expecting a third, slightly more complete version next year. :-\
