I have a friend who hates Legends because of its control scheme. Apparently, she decided to play Megaman 64 first. She now has a PSone and I've considered her sending her the original Legends but I am concerned: You see, she hated having to control the camera. I can see that on an N64 controller - which is probably one of the most cumbersome things I've had played games with - but would it be easier on a PS controller?
I'm trying to clear up a good game's name here so what I am basically asking is: Is the PS controller easier to play Legends with?

YES! YES! The PS controller is without a doubt much easier to play Legends with... I turn on Mega Man 64 to start a new file and think: "Well, maybe not..." I turn on Mega Man Legends on and think: "Oh yeah!" I can't stand using the 64 controller unless I get really used to it... EDIT: I should have said: I can't stand using the 64 controller FOR LEGENDS unless I get used to it... I love the 64's controller.

N64 control scheme... difficult?!? From what I read of how the original's controls where, the N64 is a lot easier. I simply press in the direction I want to go, and do it! PS version uses the shoulder buttons to turn. The N64 is a great system, shame it got so bad publicity because of the controller. Really easy to use once you read the instructions.

Actually you can change the controller setup for Playstation to be normal(where you actually turn with the directional buttons). I don't know why they set the default to that crappy setup, but it's easily changed. I've never played the 64 version, so I wouldn't know about that setup...

I like the PS controller better. Turning with the shoulder buttons comes easier to me than using the directional buttons for some wierd reason, and somehow it makes more sense for the four PS buttons (O, X, /\, and []) to control the "interact, shoot, use special weapon, and jump" features as opposed to A, B, and two of the four C buttons. But that's just me.

Yeah, MML was definetly though up with a Playstation joy stick in mind. I haven't used it on N64 becaue I'm PS all the way.
BTW I don't have MTB either, how much am I missing. And they have translated it right, becaue all the screenshots I saw were in Japanese.

Yes, it's translated.
Oh, and BTW, MegaMan Legends 1 doesn't use the analog. Too early of a game.

Heh, I remember playing MML2 for a long time and then trying to go back to MMl1 and had the hardest time making myself not try to use the analog stick and going AHH it's broken! ;D

For me, for some strange reason, whenever I play a game I haven't played in a long while, I can just pick it up and start playing without learning the controls again.

LOL, I do that too. It means you're becoming a more veteran gamer. You played the game a lot, so you can easily adapt to the controls.

For as long as I can remember, I could just... pick it up, I don't really understand why!
I just adapted to the controller when I first played a video game in '90... I guess everyone has a talent.
Although I wish I could play the piano.

Oh man, on the subject of controllers: Back then, controllers were no more than little black thick joysticks made of vinyl or rubber with one red button. I guess we old crappers (I'm not that old - just grew up with old machines =D) have an advantage when it comes to going back to forgotten games? members.shaw.ca/susanmc/joy0127b.JPGBeing not even a kindergartener, I chewed up mine and my dad didn't like it. I remember it being unusually tasty but when you're five, anything you stick in your mouth is still pretty good.

Yeah, I remember trying to figure out those controls. I reversed it too, so you could turn with the control pad and run sideways with the R-L buttons. It never made any sense the other way. One thing that always confused me was that the Auto-Lock button was occasionally different (in Legends 1-2 it was R2, in Tron Bonne it was L2) That always confused me, cause I would be constantly pressing the wrong button and nothing would happen.

I first play the 64 version and i reversed the controls. it was still different but better than it was before. when i played the playstation version i had a hard time adjusting to it. it's too bad that i rented both of them. it wasn't till a couple of months ago that i could find mml to buy it and it was the 64 version. it just ran faster.

Well I have the N64 game and after awhile it gets much easier to play and move. I don't have a PS of any sort so I have to go by what I know !
