I dunno, it doesn't look like many of the other diggers we've seen use them. I mean I'm sure the buster gun or compatible weaponry is fairly common all things considered, but it doesn't seem like it's a prerequisite.

The only diggers we'd seen in full suits of armor, up until Legends 3, have been Mega Man and Russell. Other characters in similar armor who are primarily not diggers include Teisel and Glyde. Bon and Klaymoor also have full armor suits that don't really resemble the other suits as much.
Characters in Legends 1, 2, and MoTB who seem to have had limbs or other parts replaced, but aren't wearing full armor suits include Barrell, Joe, Loath, and Bola.
Wily has an empty eye socket, but doesn't seem to have had that repaired, and as far as I know, just runs a boat shop. Tuttle may or may not actually need that cane. Probably not, seeing as how he tackled the traps in Shala-Kun Part 3.
Art, Dantz, Maude, Perl, Roxette, Zhig, Zhag, Tuttle, the Kattelox Junk Store Lady, the fellow in the green apron by the Cardon Ruins with the Class B License, Matilda, and Von Bluecher don't seem to have had any modifications.
I've probably missed a few characters. >_<

I think MoTB Diggers aren't the same type, Digouts seem to follow their own type and attract the more spelunker diggers, where as Ruin Diggers are all about going around ruins.
Of the actual diggers we've seen we can come to a few conclusions...
There are Diggers who seem to be more about getting around Reaverbots than fighting them and mostly just hunt for junk laying around.
Then there are Diggers who fight Reaverbots and try for the big stuff.
Then there are those that do a little of both.
Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if Digouts are never mentioned again, and are ignored cannon wise.
MML3 seems like it'll be retconning a little about Legends regarding how Diggers work, the Modification thing being expanded upon.
The question I have to ask, Is if Busters are so common, why is it only Mega Man seemed to really be fighting on the Island where Official Diggers lived.
And why does it look like ONLY Barret is the one fighting off the invasion.
This seems like a game play plot hole.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the Prototype, White. Especially since the Bright Bats were supposed to suck...you'd think there'd be other diggers fighting off the Reaverbots if the sky suddenly turned ominously dark. Who knows, though? Maybe they're all preoccupied. In Legends 1, though, it seemed like Mayor Amelia hadn't given out very many Class A licenses. The only instance where someone in the game had explicitly explored one of the sub-gates was the lady by the dock's late husband with Lake Jyun.

@ whitewindow: Actually, 'digout' is just the Japanese terminology for a dig- the translators just forgot to localize the term. The digging in MoTB is intended to be the same kind Trigger does (and the kind the Gustaff does in the Nakkai ruins), just not in a proper ruins/sub-gate (the Shala-Kun ruins are referred to as a 'refractor mine'). See here. @ Dashe: What might also be worth compiling is how many diggers actually have weapons shown in the series- for instance... - Mega Man has his buster gun and at least one special weapon, generally
- Art carries a pistol in a holster
- Dantz apparently uses dynamite, and martial arts
- Barrett uses a wrist-mounted buster gun, martial arts, and 'Volcano Leggings', which is the name of his leg-mounted fiery kick attacks according to the name of one of the recently released screenshots
- The Junk Store couple were in possession of a mine kit...
...And so on. Also something to note: buster gun parts are sold in junk stores, along with bionic parts, canteens, shields, etc.

I think having some body parts replaced is fine, such as the eyes or arms for some of the characters in the series. But I don't really like the idea that carbons can have their entire bodies replaced with mechanical parts, like what is implied for Trigger. I guess that's because it makes them seem less human (or in the game's case, "carbon").

The MML1 blad earm is aperfect backing to the whole Arm-replacement theory, maybe even the source. But I can provide two more examples:
Shield arm - compared to unarmed hand is slightly shorter than the length of elbow-to-kunckles. & Spread Buster - I compared this myself during my 500 hours of MML1 gameplay, has Spread Buster's elbow-mount is only as long as his lower arm, below-to-wrist, his hand cannot fit in that.
This at worst backs it up, and at most, proves it. All seen by simply playing MML1.
Now onto other cybernetics: Roll's scanner...Perhaps it's not like the DBZ energy scanner use dby Freiza's goons, but isntead built into the eye, this would allow a digger to have it as well. Roll of course could easily establish a wireless link to the flutter/etc. for enhanced scanning abilities.
Another they could have is a gravity-control device that instead of making them lighter, pulls them to things, enabling a wallrun effect, to cover large pits that have no other way across, this could be as simple as Armor, but for the less rich, feet enhancements.
(Off subject but: My FC plug-in in my fanficiton, as well as my RPC has the wall-run ability)
The final enhancement that i would say is extremely useful has already been mentioned: Multiple optic spectrum vision:in the forms of Normal, Heat, Night.
Normal of course would be for ruins that are prelit, Heat would be useful for seeing Reaverbots if no fireballs are around(would otherwise cause problems due to proximity), Night would be for dark rooms with little to no heat.
