It took me a while to realize last panels are a flashback, I know that the black background is used to point out that stuff though. I considered using rounded corners for flashback panels, but they came out a little weird so I just went for the black background. I might give that another shot next time.

So Banner was a war kid, probably orphan I guess, that would explain his lack of education, pretty badass.
Also, you made me search back the panel where the name of Roll's gun is shown... Well played.
The black background is fine, although the transition seemed a little odd, maybe next time you can begin the flashback at the next page rather than suddenly breaking the pace, or writing a small "xx years ago" somewhere it's not intrusive but one could find it quickly when in doubt. That's my personal opinion, though.

Well played. Kind of. I think of Banner (or Burner as the JP name translates closer to) as an orphan who grew up alone fending for himself selling scrap and trinkets he finds in ruins just to get by.
With that said, he probably doesn't even have a surname of his own so he pretty much married into Barell's family. And we all knew how that turned out for him in the end.
Yeah, I'll experiment a bit more with ways to present it when I get to the next set of flashbacks (and there's probably going to be quite a few later on just to break up the monotony).

Decided against it as it seemed like Roll can get away with anything hence the Boke/Tsukkomi routine you mentioned.
