No, this isn't another 'What's up with Volnutt' thread. I know most of everyone agrees Rock is a better name then Megaman. Megaman is a stupid name for someone, but I can't imagine anyone in the game calling him Rock. I try to say Rock instead of Megaman but I just can't do it. It doesn't have the same feeling. All my memories are atached to Megaman not Rock. I can't call him Trigger because he isn't really Trigger, thats just who he used to be. Which do like most, and why?

Given name: Rock Volnutt (alt. spelling Volnatto, giving it a more European-sounding name) Nickname (given by people, for his acts of bravado): Megaman Alternate Nickname: Blue Boy (a.k.a. The blue one) Unit Type (as assigned by Mother): Rockman Codename (as assigned by Mother): Trigger
Any questions?

I call him “Volnutt.”
I used to call him Trigger, and before that just MegaMan. I don't remember why I stopped calling him MegaMan; he is MegaMan, after all. I have nothing against the name MegaMan, and I'm not the least bit insistent on calling him Rock instead. (purists... :17:) My only gripe with the name MegaMan is that the explanation they gave for it made no sense. Maybe that's why I stopped calling him that. As for Trigger, I have no idea why or when I started calling him that, but you'll find it in the majority of my older posts, so it must've stuck.
Then, maybe a year ago or so, I decided to stop calling him Trigger and switch to Volnutt, on account of the fact that I hate the name Trigger and everything that it stands for. (i.e., the whole System plot) I always preferred, and will always prefer, the regular, every-day digger MegaMan. I prefer to associate MegaMan with the fellow who runs around underground digging up treasure and fighting pirates, not the strange fellow with the dark, unnecessarily mysterious past that tends to cram itself into the last five minutes of each game.. So, there you have it: Volnutt.
“Volnutt” or “Trigger” are also nice because they're region-independent names. (i.e., consistent in English and Japanese) If you're concerned about that sort of thing, these may be the names for you. I'm not; I just happen to like the name Volnutt.

I usually just call him Mega Man, Megsy, or Megs, but I really like telling the Junk Store Couple that it's Hippopotamus. I'd definitely be up for more lying about his name in the future for sure!

I tend to call him Rock because these days I play the Japanese versions of the games. I've got nothing against the English version, it's really well done and holds a lot of nostalgia value, but the Japanese version still is the original and maybe a bit better in my opinion. C; Also, Rock sounds a lot cuter than Mega Man/MegaMan, haha. So, Rock it is~ <3

I go with Rock.
And apparently, three words is not the limit anymore... Sigh.... OH WELL. I gotta deal with it.

It's a mixed bag for me: I usually call him Megaman, or Mega. Sometimes I call him Trigger, but I usually like to think of him as Rock or Blue Boy depending on the situation. Or sometimes even Rock Volnutt, mighty digger(tm)! .... though I blame the last one on a play off of the Monkey Island games... ;D

Given name: Rock Volnutt (alt. spelling Volnatto, giving it a more European-sounding name) ;D *ahem* I got used to call him Trigger, or Trigs for short. Mainly because of RP. In a Roleplay group I RP as him, people look at the nick (Megaman--Trigger), and instantly call me Trigger, then lately someone got to call me LOTS of nicknames! Examples: Triggs, Trigger, Double Trigger, Trignometry, Triggogator... jeez :24:

Generally MegaMan, Volnutt, Trigger, Rock, or (technically-inaccurate-for-this-series ) Mega Man. I switch 'em up at will, but occasionally use certain names for different purposes (i.e. use Volnutt and Trigger when referring to his past, or Rock over MegaMan when referencing the Japanese versions).

I alternate between Trigger and Volnutt. If I'm talking about the Carbon side of the plot, I'll usually refer to him as Volnutt, but everything else gets a Trigger from me. The name debate is really none of my business, and I'm surprised that any big MM fan would consider it such an issue--Megaman, Mega Man, Rockman, etc.

For myself it depends on the situation. For the Legends series, I simply call him MegaMan since I became so used to it from playing the English games. When it comes to referring to him compared to the other Mega Men, I would call him Trigger/ Volnutt.

I actually made a thread at the Devroom a while back regarding this.
I personally prefer "Mega" or "Rock" because it sounds more like a given name than "MegaMan", which if I remember correctly, was a mistranslation to begin with.
In the Japanese version, "RockMan" is a title given to Trigger, not an actual name, so I find it weird in the English version where "MegaMan" is both his name and Elysium title.

Referring to him as simply “Mega” reminds me too much of the old MegaShows. As entertaining as those were, I don't like to associate Legends MegaMan with them. x__x;
The mistranslation is as old as the entire MegaMan series itself, so I disregard it for Legends personally.. But “MegaMan” is a bit inconsistent otherwise, I suppose. In the Japanese game, good ol' Rock Volnutt finds out that he's really Rockman Trigger, while in the English game MegaMan Volnutt finds out that he's really MegaMan Trigger. The chances of either of these things occurring by pure chance are staggering, but in the case of MegaMan Volnutt it's slightly moreso. Still, the little inconsistency there doesn't really sell me on calling him Mega. I'd prefer if they'd just stuck to Rock if they were gonna do that. (In fact, going from Rock to MegaMan Trigger would be the most believable scenario, if you ask me)
If it's an issue of not sounding like a real name, well, they tried to explain that in the games anyway. Whereas in the Japanese game, Barrel names Trigger “Rock” as a pun off of Roll's name, in the English version Roll insists on naming him “MegaMan” after a favorite video game character. (to which Barrel even protested because it was an odd name) It doesn't sound like a real name, because it's not supposed to, according to the translation. That's a good enough explanation for me.
