Rofl really FM? My results were totally different. 1. Aberrant 2. Digger 3. Spotter I'm guessing that makes me a crazy SoB? I've never seen this thread before until it was bumped by MLT, so I'll take the opportunity to DL the arcade game and try it out.

Oh awesome a quiz! Let's see... oh such tricky questions...
1:Pirate (sry? I don't think that much) 2:Digger (meh) 3:Spotter (uh... thought this would be number one.)
Then I remade the quiz again paying special attention to the questions that were for me the trickiest ones or I was between two awnsers and it gave a VERY different result:
1:Digger 2:Researcher 3:Ancient
Uh... probably more fitting than the last one.. me a Pirate? Riiight...
PS: I enjoy being a jerk... I LOL'd at that question XD
Also this made me wanting go to play the game again and try to beat that darn last boss... darn how lack of Lock-on makes me so vunerable to that guy...

I guess I got some big Engineer points for the airship design question where I said I would rather delegate. For that question I wasn't sure whether I should go for that or the hands-on work, but when I tried the other option, Engineer was replaced by Aberrant, and I think Engineer sounded slightly more appropriate for me.

Spotter Researcher Agent Being me, I have to say that I really felt like some of the questions needed all of the above and/or none of the above, and some just have too few selections. Yes I'm nitpicking but why can't I say the government is both corrupt and necessary? And while we're nitpicking. Why didn't questions 5, 7, 11, and twelve have options involving sniper rifles

I can't help but think the Normal Arm / Shining Laser question is the one that automatically puts your #1 answer as "Aberrant"... hehe. Perhaps Dashe would play dirty in a fist fight too?

I picked Shining Laser there too, but narrowly avoided the Aberrant classification. I saw that as just practical, what's the point of playing fair? I guess that's why I got Engineer and Pirate. My answers tended for either aggressively practical, or practically aggressive.

Actually, I picked Normal Arm for that one every time I took the quiz, and always got Aberrant as #1. No way I'm fighting dirty after all that cheating at CU!

Funny story I read through the thread without paying attention. Downloaded the game and kept looking for the quiz. This game is challenging, I have to say that FooRoos have been the ones to kill me every time. Two refractors so far! I don't want to nitpick but is there a way to fix/speed up the left/right turning? I end up midair unable to turn around without hitting the key several times.

Hmm... o.o Interesting results all around. About half of them followed a pattern I predicted, while the rest ended up being sort of mixed bags. Definitely needs more refining. And I can't help but notice that no one got Purifier... May need to look into that. Also, forgot to mention, but Businessman isn't included as a result in this one for the reasons mentioned in the earlier discussions. To respond to a bunch of stuff at once: Regarding the results, just to be clear, they were based more on how I felt your gameplay preferences (as determined by your answers) matched up with the play styles of the different classes, and less on what kind of job I thought you'd actually have in-universe. Getting Pirate or Aberrant as your first choice, for example, doesn't mean I've decided your a crazy cheating SoB, but rather, that you like more engaged, combat-oriented gameplay with some elements of exploration. Maybe. Regarding the questions , the actual answers were less important than HOW you answered, for lack of a better way to put it. It was less about whether you preferred fighting fair or pulling a laser on the enemy, and more about the thought process I reasoned would lead to that answer, and what that implied about your character. The knowledge/power/combination one, for example, was less about whether you liked knowing more or having more firepower, and more about how much you erred towards specialization. The power/knowledge answers are actually almost identical in what points they give out; balance was the only different one. Likewise, in the Normal-Arm-Fight one, it was more about how aggressive or passive you were, and less about whether or not you'd cheat in a comically over-the-top way. The Normal Arm and Shining Laser answers are almost identical; the “avoid fighting” one is the different one.
Similarly, some questions deal with how you'd function in a team. Some assess how much of a risk-taker you are. Others are about how much you enjoy exploration. The jerk question is just the jerk question. So if there doesn't seem to be a reasonable answer to one of the questions, it may be because the question is not actually asking what it's asking.
Still not sure how well that approach is working. Only half of the results following a predictable pattern doesn't seem to good. Definitely still need refining. I'll try posting up something in the near future showing what character traits I thought matched up with which classes so you can all yell at me about how wrong your results are.
(Also, sorry about the Java. I really ought to put more work into learning html one of these days.)
You actually shouldn't be able to turn midair without touching a wall/cieling, or dashing. That was intentional, so that you could shoot in one direction while moving in the other. I tried a system where you could turn midair at any time, but it ended up feeling terribly unintuitive when fighting Fooroos. At least to me.
Also, please, do nitpick.

The "SoB" remark was an over-exaggeration on my part. sorry. x.X Love that great big wall of txt, I actually read it. It's good to see that the quiz can detect when Dashe is taking it and always plops Aberrant for #1. Lovely unintentional touch. Was nice to see you got some time to reply to us MLT!

Alrighty. No new demo or screenshots yet, but here's another small progress update. As of a few weeks ago (the last time I really got to work on this), rough versions of all the classes are now finished. They are basically all functional and mostly bug-free, and are pretty much as playable as the digger class was in the last demo. However, I still haven't done any proper graphics for them, so the whole thing is still ugly as sin. Also haven't made any new enemies to go with the new classes, which has caused bunch of balance issues. Gunner and engineer are monstrosities right now, while agent is pretty much as useful as mud. So it's on to doing up some enemies next, methinks. And then some new graphics. After that, I might slap together a couple of levels and put out a new demo. Don't know how far off that might be, though. In the meantime, I did go and update that career aptitude test. Took out some questions, added some in, and refined the way the scores get calculated. The offshoot of all this should be more accurate and consistent results, if I'm lucky. Feel free to try it again if you like. And again, please tell me if anything is misspelled or isn't clear or something. (Also, I know I said I'd post something about what personality traits I'm matching to each class, but... I think I'll hold off in that for now. It occurs to me that it may end up biasing people's answers.) Also, have a few more sketches. I have lost any skill I once had in graphic design, I swear.

Awesome, glad to hear an update. Sounds like this game is only going to get better.
