I was recently reading Capcom unity for news on Legends 3 and I happened to notice people discussing this, and after reading it I thought what if a day/night system was added, but it was one that only affected side quests and minor NPC's and didn't affect when you could continue the main story.
Like maybe making it only affect extra things like for instance if there was a sub ruin that floods at night due to high tide you wouldn't be able to enter it but since it's only a sub ruin it wouldn't affect the main story.
And for stores they could just have a NPC that works at night and one that works in the day, and the night time NPC could be like the shady guy from Kimotoma, who may sell different things to you at night if your dark megaman or light megaman but the average things are still there to be bought.
Also since the 3DS has more power then the Wii, it would be interesting to see a snowy area at night with the moonlight reflecting off of it with lighting effects.
(an iscribble conversation also made me want to make this thread.)

I'd be alright with a day/night system as long as there was a way to skip over waiting around for the right time of day, and as long as you don't have reaverbots jumping out of the ground at night like in Zelda. :11: But being able to take a nice moonlight stroll would be really cool, or watch the sun rise... They mentioned something about having a week system over there, but I'm not really keen on it, because it might put an unnecessary emphasis on how much really depends on waiting around for the right time to do something. I've had enough waiting for one lifetime, thank you very much.

A week system reminds me of harvest moon :06: works fine for harvest moon, but doesn't fit legends to me, I think just a simple day/night system would be good hopefully they won't make it a week system. Lighting like this would be pretty cool at night. i88.photobucket.com/albums/k185/Alecsandar1111/Lighting4.jpg

Yes a day night system would be cool have side quest/things to do that only happen during the night. Certain reaver bots come out during the night. And... Hmmm.. Idea! Add to where we have to destroy the reaver bots to throw them into some sort of beastery type of thing. Then the Day night system could utilize that idea.

As long as the Reaverbots stayed underground in the ruins, that'd be cool. Random encounters are a hassle, and the Reaverbots that would pop out of the ground in Legends 2 really annoyed me. It interrupted the mood, you know? You're walking and walking, and then out of nowhere, oh, hey! Jakkos? Way to interrupt the background music! :01: It turned me off to a lot of RPGs, too.
Maybe if it didn't change the background music when they popped out, it wouldn't be so annoying.

I don't think the game needs an unnecessary and derivative immersement gimmick, but having at least one external setting at night for once would be nice. I don't care if one island is just perpetually night the same as most islands so far are perpetually daytime. Some different lighting can just go a long way to shaking up the mood and making the span of the events feel larger.

I think that it should be like zelda. Although it is on a ds we can have time follow the clock.
Or you could stare at the sun for me.

I like to imagine what life on Kattelox is like at night. I always thought it would be cool to see, strolling through downtown/uptown in the “moon”-light. I'd love to have the option. I jokingly suggested once that it should work like in Pokémon where it syncs with your actual clock. I can see how that might be problematic for some people though. I wouldn't mind weekly events like someone suggested, so long as they're minor — also like in Pokémon. If they did pull it off, I would really like to have it so that it doesn't interrupt the flow of gameplay. Some hard-coded missions taking place in nighttime sounds OK, but if there's no way to explore the world at nighttime as you please that wouldn't be very much phun. I was thinking perhaps as a compromise, nighttime mechanics could kick in at the end of the game, but that seems a bit silly.. Quite honestly, if they worked out the kinks and hiccups with day/night mechanics from other games (like Zelda, sure), I'm sure it would work fantastically. And since we're just speculating, why not assume that everything works out for the best? =) (It's not like you guys to be thinking so realistically xP)

I saw tha topic.. I didn't replied because I realkly didn't had much to add... A system like taht would be awesome.. but more than mere day/night, a bit of rain, wind, snow and stuff like that qould be nice.
Somethign like that could affect how certain aprts are played.. like MMZ4.. but... without weatehr control of course.

I'd agree only if it means a walk-in 'accident' at night.

More than likely, enough time would have passed between this installment and Legends 2 to allow for such massive construction and expansion of the main city, even if it's only 10 months or so. Most of us over at the Devroom have agreed on having certain missions end with a time change, from day to night, and the option of sleeping away a time period in the Flutter, allowing for recharging and an easy change from day to night and vice versa. I take it for granted that we'll be having missions at night should this be implemented--it's simply too good of an opportunity to pass up, as far as I'm concerned. It would simply affect the shading and options for NPC encounters, as well as missions...do we really want to see Reaverbots popping up from the ground, or out of ruins every flippin' night? I know that I don't.

Not to mention since they are supposed to guard the ruins, it doesn't make much sense for them to leave them I still don't understand why MML2 had them coming from the ground. calinca is my main point in this unless they were buried in the snow and Megaman woke them up when he walked near them.
(Heck in any game I always hated random battles the FF1 remake for GBA was the worse example of random battles. Around every 2 seconds a battle would happen, I still liked the game but it was tedious.)

I approve this. The effect was lovely in Dragon Quest VIII. By this point, I think all games should have it. It adds a sense of depth that you gotta love, it also adds some replay value if things happen at night. But generally in games with day/night cycles, enemies who appear at night are tougher.
Then there's Red Dead Redemption, where once night fell you'd have to be careful at all times or you'd be eaten alive by coyotes.

Pondering about it for a moment, a day/night system could work if the developers put thought into it to make the game fun; like in Pokemon.
For example: certain reaverbots come out at certain times of the day and those reaverbots would reward you with a certain amount of zenny when you shoot them. Maybe at nighttime reaverbots would attack you when you shoot them while you walk outside? Or how about that if you wait until a certain time you'll get special prices on certain items? Things like that would make the game fun.
I sure hope the developers won't make it that you certain story events would only occur at certain times of the day; like waiting until midnight for the Bonnes to attack the island.

It's not exactly a day/night thing, but I was thinking it might be cool if they put some date-based easter-eggs into the game. Like on holidays and stuff, have modified NPC dialog or maybe some unique character models. I have vague recollections of some old PC games that did stuff like that. Or maybe they could just toss in some holiday DLC mods or something. Might be nifty.
TBPH, I really don't get people's complaints about reaverbots coming out of the ruins. (at night or otherwise) Just putting that out there. I always imagined that being a very real concern for people in the Legends universe. Especially with all this business about elders and their machines reactivating at the end of Legends 2 — quite honestly, I expect that will be a main point of the game.
