If _______'s name turns out to be James, I will probably die laughing. So how big do you think Lily's digging team's going to wind up being? The smallest ones we've seen really consist of just a single digger and spotter, but there's also room to add more diggers, researchers, and the like. I don't see their group getting any larger than four, myself. And how much do you think the winning Lilly design is going to influence the rest of her digging team, whoever they are?

One veteran digger and a young digger and a spotter would do the trick. I'd imagine it's gonna be more than two, but less than five, just about the same as you. Five is probably too many. And four would work, but three is a pretty good number, so I'm betting on three. Then again, I wouldn't mind if they tried to be different, and mixed it up a bit.
I don't really think the design chosen for Lily is going to affect the rest of her team. I don't see any reason for it to, even if Lily sticks out like a sore thumb in the group. It's not like the team has to be related or something. I rather hope there's some variety among the team members, so it kind of emphasizes that idea of different people coming together to go on adventures in search of treasure. (It's business; it doesn't have to be family business)
The nearest thing I could imagine to Lily's design impacting her team members is if we get to choose them in a poll, and then we (yeah, “we...”) decide on their designs based on her design. I hope it doesn't come to that. I don't mind Capcom's asking for our input, but we don't need to pick every new character.

I'm calling it now: Lilly is going to work with a teenage digouter, an old man, and a dancing, robotic animal of some sort.

Yeah, I was thinking they might do something like that too. I hope they don't because it's just a bit too predictable.

Has anything been mentioned about Lilly's role in the team? Digger, spotter?

Lilly'll be the Spotter, the Diggers will be a giant musclebound dork named something like Dirk Dashing, and a Shaggy-like sidekick named Bofus who also constantly screwed things up. And I mena Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.

How about actually making her Digging Team some sort of highly professional group of experts? Honestly, throughout my adventures in the Halcyon Days, I've yet to encounter a digger that seemed even remotely competent, other than Tron, arguably. There has to be other diggers out there that are also as good as Megaman.
Lilly could be a new addition to the team, some sort of prodigy that feels she needs to prove herself a worthy member of the team.
Eh, maybe not...

Having Lilly's team be highly professional would be hilarious in and of itself, since she is apparently supposed to be a big slacker of some sort.

Lilly: The Paris Hilton of the Digging World. Is she smart? No. Is she talented? No. But she's the boss's daughter, so she gets to spot for the group.

Actually, now that you mention it, I kind of have faith in that idea now...hm. What kind of people would we have on it? A Dr. Light clone? Anyway, this could also be a buildup of a good backstory for Lilly. Lilly, the daughter of a well-reknown digger, is taken along by her digger father, who plans to teach her the ropes. She meets her father's digging team, and quickly shows signs of competence (mostly forced, due to wishing to please her father), yet displaying certain quirky, eccentric bits of personality as well. Then again, the chances that the real thing would even remotely be something like this are bleh.
