As the MMLS Official Unintentional Legends 3 Profit, I say it ain't so! Good! Now saw it again as the MMLS Official Unintentional Legends 3 P-r-o-p-h-e-t. :22: (EDIT: looks like you've got it. :07:) I also agree 100% with Tau. I hope the decisions are still ultimately made by Capcom, instead of by the polls. I hope the polls are just used as a general guide. I don't know whether or not this will be the case, but it seems like an OK possibility.

I would think that the polls are just being used as a way of just seeing what way they believe they should generally go. If not, I think they'd probably come up with alot more sketches before having a poll like this.

As long as Capcom's keeping some degree of control over exactly how far the fans are involved, then I'm okay with it. We'll just have to see what they've got in store for us...and who knows, maybe if we don't like how they're handling the whole thing we can tell them that.

If I've unintentionally cornered myself into only being able to unintentionally predict eerily accurate sales figures as a Profit-Prophet, I'm sorry. :21: Ugh, this is starting to sound an awful lot like Grilled Cheesus. I certainly hope Capcom keeps the major plot points to themselves. :24: As long as Capcom's keeping some degree of control over exactly how far the fans are involved, then I'm okay with it. We'll just have to see what they've got in store for us...and who knows, maybe if we don't like how they're handling the whole thing we can tell them that. :18: THAT'S BRILLIANT. If it gets out of hand the fans could hand over control to the pros. Brilliant.

Using fan input to tell Capcom to stop using fan input? How could they follow through on that one? XD

Blues, that's the smartest idea I've heard all day. Actually telling Capcom to keep the fan-input stuff in the trivial category would be perfect. That said, the rest of the fans would have to agree with our view. The character design vote is one thing, but when a more recent announcement stated that we'd be "playing a game we helped make" I cringed a bit. I'd rather Capcom just make the game themselves for the most part. As Green stated, the thought of the game being messed up because the fans did it is a much worse thought than Capcom themselves messing something up. That said, I'm pretty optimistic about Capcom's work on the game (which is why I'm worried about the fan-input in the first place.

Anyone else hoping they just take all 9 designs and put them in anyway, even if they only flesh out the 1-2 very popular ones? They all seem like solid character designs (although I do have my preferences; I agree with you, Green, I'm not fond of Suetsugu's concept) and would probably make decent quest givers or town fillers.
It'd be nice if we saw that it wasn't just Roll and the antags that have airships...a few of those characters would make fine shipdock greasemonkies, if only to fill up those docks with some activity.
As for the whole thing of fan input, I also hope that Capcom doesn't get too carried away...polls on trivial things are perfectly fine, but I hope they don't actually have people, for instance, submit rocketship plans...even though I'm sure a number of people have already started designing one after seeing that video.
Capcom has experimented with game-content-important polls before (that secret character position in We Love Golf comes to mind), so perhaps they'll be sticking to that for the most part, in which case we won't have too much to worry about.
My biggest fear is that, as with all online polls, they can be sabotaged; 'By the fans, for the fans' could quickly end up being 'By whomever is willing to rig the vote, for the lulz'. If Zero shows up in that poll, we're doomed, but not because Legends fans want him, but because Zero fans may storm the vote. After all, we have done, and would do the same, so it's not like we're in a position to call foul.

Yeah, I think someone already mentioned the possibility of runners up showing up as nameless NPCs. It would work well. The other games had their share of non-generic NPCs, like wannabe video-game developer girl in Uptown Kattelox, or blue afro dominatrix girl in Yosyonke. We could have 8 additional Lillies hiding in MML3 somewhere.

People actually getting excited over a character's appearance? Seems like a lot of misspent energy. That's... not really exciting at all, is it? I bet it's just some really obnoxious ploy to raise interest in the game. I really doubt it will amount to anything at all, other than some lame multiple choice ballots for trivial things idiots love to obsess over. I'm more irritated than worried. Choose from these 9 designs is fine, so long as fans aren't submitting their own stuff.

Yeah. Some of the people there are too attached to their choices. It's like watching virtual hockey spectators. Literally, there's fanart going around already and they don't even know how big her part in the story's even going to be! :01:

Is it really that surprising that people would get excited over something actually related to the project?

My biggest concern about this project overall is fan input influence on the story. This is Inafune's creation, so I think the only thing that fans should not be able to touch is the story. This could also possibly be the final chapter in the entire MegaMan timeline, so of course we wouldn't want that to end badly. After all, we don't want a story about Trigger teaming up with Zero, or Trigger saving the world from Zero.
By the way, anyone else having a hard time logging in to their Capcom Unity account? I made mine more than a week ago, and I still can't log in. Even after requesting a new password, it still doesn't work. Maybe it takes forever to just register me?

After all, we don't want a story about Trigger teaming up with Zero, or Trigger saving the world from Zero. . . . You know . . . If MegaMan Legends is the final MegaMan series, timeline-wise, ending it by sending Zero to oblivion might be fun, in a guilty pleasure kind of way. :28: No clue about your password issues, sorry. My account was easy enough to get up and running. >.<

Is it really that surprising that people would get excited over something actually related to the project? Never said it was surprising. I'm saying fans will get excited over pretty much anything, and Capcom is basically using that as a way to throw us a bone. I'm only concerned about the meat of the game, which I hope the fans have no part of.
