I get those "people saying my name in normal voices" thing all the time. It's like I hear my name, and I look around, peek downstairs, but there's literally nothing! Ah, the power of the human mind. Dreamwise, the worst dream I ever had (that I remember off the bat) happened several months ago. for SOME reason I woke up in my mom's bed (yeah right like what?), and nobody else was there. I was beginning to think "huh..." then the bedroom door is smashed in and there's a dude with a roaring chainsaw. Needless to say, I woke up, the roaring stopped, I was back in my own bed, with the typical symptoms of being temporarily locked in a nightmare. Why can't pleasant dreams happen more often for me... Every other dream it's me jumping off a building.

I've never experienced this myself, but a few people I know have mentioned that they hear their name being whispered as they're falling asleep. Frankly, it would freak me the flip out. Strangely enough, I've never be terribly freaked or creeped out by it. It think it has a lot to do with the tone of the voice though. If it was whispered and drawn out or something, that would be spooky, but it's always just a soft, succinct tone, making me feel like the only appropriate response is "what", because it sounds like someone getting my attention to tell me something. Of course they never follow it up. I might describe it as whispering because it seems very quiet, yet also right next to me, so it's not like they're shouting from a distance or screaming in my ear, it's not the voiceless kind of whispering though, just a normal speaking voice that's very quiet. And maybe even that would be freaky, but despite how vivid it seems when I hear the voice, I can immediately tell it was merely imagined, just like any dream. Maybe if I were more superstitious I'd be looking for ghosts or telepaths to point a finger at, but I know it's a fairly common phenomenon that doesn't even make me less sane, so I can just forget about it and go to sleep.

I wish I could say I remembered any of my dreams recently, but it's all just little bits and pieces.. Little flashes of scenes: locations, people, themes.. But none of them were particularly interesting. Just the usual dream fodder: imaginary topics popping up here on the boards that I wish I could remember because they'd be pretty interesting (yeah, even when I'm dreaming, I'm posting on the forums sometimes), something or other about Pokémon (don't ask, I have no idea...), and that weird recurring dream where I'm a Power Ranger. (The red ranger, believe it or not — tyrannosaurus. I really have no idea where that comes from) I don't think I've had an actual dream about anything MegaMan Legends-related since the Legends 3 announcement, and that makes me sad.. I should do like, nothing but playing the games for a week straight. I bet I could change that. I can say I've also had abrupt, loud noises forcefully shake me just before I fall asleep. It's a bit frustrating when it happens, but not terrible. Never had the experience of hearing someone calling my name, though. Gotta say I'm surprised that's such a common one. Sounds awfully strange to me. ; And I can also say that I've experienced lucid dreams before, although it's been incredibly rare. (Half a dozen times a year, or somewhere thereabout) I hear it helps to train yourself to remember your dreams better — like by writing them down upon waking and such. I've tried that in the past, and it really did seem to work; I'm not sure why I stopped, but.. yeah. I dunno. When it comes to lucid dreams, staying in the dream phase is the difficult part, because once you know that you're dreaming, it's not that easy to avoid waking yourself up and losing the whole thing. It's been especially tricky for me. My subconscious doesn't like me very much: last time I had a lucid dream, he was fighting me every step of the way. (I don't know if it's typical to get massively painful, “OH GOD MAKE IT STOP” headaches when lucid dreaming, but I hope no one here ever experiences it)I've only had a few really successful lucid dreams. I wish I'd written them down at the time, because none of the ones I can remember are anything I want to tell you guys about. They're all either uninteresting, only personally interesting, or the kind of thing I'd kind of like to keep private. :22: We'll do an uninteresting one.. One time, I had a dream I was at my highschool graduation. That's what set it off really. I'm sitting there in the church (I attended Catholic highschool), not really paying much attention — much like I was at my actual graduation. Someone was talking about something or other, I dunno. Anyway, so halfway through the ceremony I realized I had to be dreaming because I graduated highschool years ago. ( Kind of like in this xkcd.) So from there everything just kind of paused, and I was able to move around freely in the dreamscape. (That's usually the point where I'd end up just waking up and the whole thing would be over) It's kind of cool being able to move around freely in a dream. It wasn't a terribly interesting place to be, though, and my dream-self got impatient pretty quickly. So for a quick change of pace, I improvised and decided that I would punch down the nearest wall, and explore whatever was on the other side. I don't know if this resulted in any other particularly interesting dreamscapes, but it became phun to do by itself, and I ended up doing it repeatedly... It was kind of like a cartoon or something. I probably opened up a dozen different random places, although I can't really say I remember any of them. I may've slipped back into auto-pilot (non-lucid) mode before it was over. (That happens sometimes too) As phun as it was, it was pretty much the dream equivalent of flipping channels without ever finding a good program to watch. If you ever have a boring lucid dream, try to come up with a zany transition to shake things up.

Awww, by the time I realize that i'm in a forgotten dream, there's about 5 more seconds before I'm woken up by someTHING or someONE. It's like time in my dream just freezes, I'm watching, but the last 5 seconds wind up being the last 2 hours of sleep time... or something like that.
and jeez, you wanna talk about being LOCKED in dreams, I remember back in my childhood, I dreamed I was in a corporate building or something like that, I step outside and I get blinded (by the sun) supposedly, and I have no idea why. Then my mom goes "are you gonna wake up?" and I snap awake, being blinded further by the ceiling light which was turned on. Hilarious.
and in another instance, I was holding some sort of gizmo thingy (don't remember any details on scenery) but yeah, then it started BEEPING ever so loudly and I dropped it, and it was about 10 seconds of holding my ears and trying to turn it off before I finally wake up and see that my alarm clock was blaring and it was 5 minutes past the time I set for it to start. FAIL.
No pleasantries. I think pleasant dreams are myths now. lol

It's like time in my dream just freezes, I'm watching, but the last 5 seconds wind up being the last 2 hours of sleep time... or something like that. That's how it was for me for a LONG time with lucid dreams; from a very young age. Not only that, but it would happen very often. It was kind of nice when I was younger actually, because it usually triggered whenever I'd be having a nightmare or something like. But now it's basically like any time I have an interesting dream (anything out of the ordinary, really) it triggers and just leaves me hanging there. (I can't even escape boring realities even when I'm asleep) It takes practice, really, and a bit of luck, but eventually you can force yourself to stay in the dream and move about as you like. It gets considerably easier after you've done it a few times, too. My lucid dreams have become considerably rarer since I've gotten the knack for controlling them, but I almost never have the kind that ends five seconds after I realize it's started any more.

@voices calling your name, happens to everyone. I hear other things, too. Like heavy coughing, or the ( nonexistent) radio playing low. Nothing spooky, but to my annoyance it gets me out of bed to check around for what could be making it. Generally my dreams are transcendent and/or would be incriminating stuff irl, and I can remember the good parts pretty well. I'd rather not dream lucidly because if you let your subconscious take you places it'll show you hidden aspects of yourself you never actively thought about while awake. It can be really inspiring on an artistic level, and occasionally I have to break out the oil paints and make shit no one would care for but me. I've gotten surprise visits from the window cleaner while sleeping starkers. My least favorite way of being woken. x( EDIT- If your dreams resemble this, you're doing something right.

I've had that so many times in my life! Strange thing is: The voice that says my name, all the time it's my mother's voice. It might be the fact that I'm so used to her voice.

I don't tend to dream too often; I've never been good at getting proper amount of sleep ( D : ), so dreams are rare for me. Also, if I have them, I know I'm dreaming; the vaguely defined, almost-but-not-quite things in my dreams stick out to me. I've learned about lucid dreaming before, but never really seem to remember enough to apply it. : o The most recent 'dream' I had (if you can call it that), was a five-second glimpse of a nice, small dining room with white walls that was also half open-air. Pleasant-looking...maybe I should try lucid dreaming after all.

I'm going to share my strangest dream with you guys, I was in a bakery, but it looked like my 4th grade classroom, complete with desks and stuff, I was sitting with Fidel Castro and making small talk, I imagined him as very friendly and talkative, but I don't remember what was said. Then I see the school nurse putting poison in a bowl and mixing it, I continue talikng with Castro until the nurse came over and offered Castro a cinnamon bun(this time she was sexy), he goes to take a bit and I smack it out of his hand screaming NO. He's mad, but I explain what was going on and his gaurds seize her, Castro is very pleased and we are best friends for the rest of our lives. I really like that dream. Edit: I forgot to mention we were setting in the school desks.

I've never had either the name phenomenon or flashes of light before falling asleep, but then again, I usually take about two hours just to get to sleep at all. :06: Oooh, last night I dreamed that MLT found a copy of Sephira's 3D model and posted it here, and then Capcom got mad at us all because it was supposed to be a secret.

Man I never have dreams that are relevent to my life. They say that dreams are sort of like your repressed thoughts and hidden subconscious fleshing itself out in visual form, at least, in your imaginative processes anyways. Or something like that. Personally, I think of it as being an awesome movie theater inside of your head! I especially like dreaming nightmares (weird, I know), because I'm sort of a scary/suspense movie kind of guy, and sometimes it puts me RIGHT into the action. I've dreamt of taking on those Stalker-esque Freddie/Jason type characters while trying to keep my close friends alive. Those happen every now and then, but more recently, I've been dreaming about trying to stay alive in zombie invasions more frequently. I'm not exactly a person who watches many zombie movies or plays Dead Rising (I don't even own that game) so why these keep reoccuring is a mystery to me. I usually end up making it out alive and unbitten though, had to smack one zombie in the head with a skateboard about 20 times before it went down, the thing was really hard-headed!

I once dreamt of grey eyeless zombies busting out of crevices in my house's walls. I tried to kill one with a shovel but it didn't work, so I got a pitchfork and jammed it in it's skull with and sickening pop. I almost threw up when I woke up.
