Name: Foo-roo HP: 1(!) Location: Lake Jyun/Main Gate | |
Overview
Welcome to the 8th installment in the 'Rate that Reaver' series! This topic is about a reaver who's a real joke, Foo-roo!
Foo-roo are pretty small, and have a tendency to gather in numbers. They just tend to float there, minding their own business (whatever that may be), until an intruder is spotted. Should that happen, the little guys will follow said intruder until they get close enough, in which case they will proceed to explode, causing some damage to the unwanted guest.
This all sounds pretty decent on paper, until you realize that these things are extremely frail. So frail, in fact, that they only have one hit point. These little guys pretty much define the term "glass cannon".
Dealing With It
Seeing as they only have one hit point, there isn't really much of a threat they can pose. They do make little explosions when destroyed, but they still shouldn't pose much of a threat as you can take them out from long distances. The Main Gate variety are a bit more annoying; not on their own accord, but simply because of the way the level is laid out. You really don't want to turn a corner with one of these in your face, although you can just run away as they proceed to explode anyway. Lastly, I think the Shield Arm stuffs them as well, although it's hardly a necessity for taking these guys out.
Coming In For A Landing
Honestly, these little guys aren't all too interesting, and the fact that rarely even drop a single zenny just makes them that much more boring. Megaman Legends 2 executed this idea so much better when they introduced Miitan, who was a far more dangerous and interesting design than these things. I rate the Foo-roo a 1/10, because there's really nothing memorable or interesting about these guys at all.

Nothing memorable? I gathered all the ones in the main gate and they lowered half my life meter.
4/10

Nothing memorable? I gathered all the ones in the main gate and they lowered half my life meter. 4/10 Yeah, but to do that, you have to put up no effort whatsoever. The average player probably won't even get hit by these things at all. Their design is a bit boring as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they don't make much of an impression in the game. I mean, they pretty much made a huge one on your health bar in that example, but that was only because you pretty much let them.

I liked them, they had a nice design, and float in a cool way. In big numbers, they can be a bit of a nuisance, too, especially with the explosions. They are weak most of the time, though. 3/10

An early draft of the "bang-babies" from MML2. I have to admit that the bang-babies improved at simply all of this guys aspects, I mean, this doesn't look as menacing, is quite brittle, and has a short-ranged explosion than the former.
Unrated (for now).

First time I ran into these guys I froze up. I don't know why since it wasn't like they were menacing or anything. It was more like I was just curious of what they were capable of.
...Then they exploded and I panicked. It got worse when I realized the killing them still made them explode. It was horrible. Anyway, I rate them 5/10. Kamikaze reavers are just wrong.

I never liked these Reavers because they weren't challenging, their explosions were too short ranged and they were weak. I'd have to give a 1/10 because they weren't very memorable to me.

I give a 6/10 because they are a reliable health source.

First time I ran into a bunch of these in the Main Gate, I got scared. Their numbers are what worried me. Playing through that area again now, they're definitely not that difficult. I'd say about 5/10.

1/10 I only gave it a full point because the basic concept could have worked and because they really creeped me out when I believed them to be a threat, as the Miitans still do.

They're annoying reaverbots and I tried my best to avoid at any cost. Yet, I swear they chase me down. Very cheap, especially when they explode.
I'll give them a 3/10.

Only time I really saw these guys as a threat was my first time playing Mega Man Legends 1 and I was in the Lake Jyun ruins with all the Sharukurusu's in that water room. The Sharukurusu's were invisible so trust me.. As a younger kid playing the game I kept on the highest platforms at all times. I normally wouldn't enter the room unless I had a Chameleon Net. But The Foo-Roo's always kept me on my toes because my first couple times through that room. I had every Reaverbot on my back in there so I didn't know which were coming at me. I heard clatter from the Sharukurusu's but as you know Foo-roo's make no noise until the Boom. So they would blind side me and knock my off my high chair and let the Sharukurusu's slice and dice me when I hit the floor. I would give these Reaverbots a 5/10 because they play a good roll and making you still have something to worry about when you are absolutely safe from everything else.

I'm rating them as 3/10. Boring, not a good source of money/health, and not too much of a hindrance.
