So, I thought another general topic about games wouldn't hurt. Beaten any games lately? If so, what? Was it your first time beating it, and, if so, what do you think of it?
Today me and my friend beat Contra(emulated on my Wii, boy do love my Classic Controller)for the first time...using the thirty lives code, of course(although I'm trying to beat the game solo without it). I love run and gun games like this, so, it was really fun. Last "boss" is a bit easy though. Maybe that was just the thirty lives speaking, I dunno.
A week prior I beat the first Castlevania game, that was really hard. I didn't cheat, though(unless you count save-stating at the beginning of an area so I can come back to it if I have to leave; I didn't save state in any other areas, sans right before Dracula with maxed out hearts, because you spawn there anyway and it's a pain to grind for hearts every time you attempt to fight him). Really great game, and I've since moved onto Castlevania III, which is proving even more difficult.

I beat Ristar the other day. I was originally just showing my brother how to get past a certain part, but I ended up finishing the entire game. It's not a very difficult game or anything, but that was it. I don't think I've beaten anything else since playing Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco the Tides of Time; I'm tired of talking about those, and I'm sure you're tired of hearing about them. Nice job with Contra. I hear that's a nightmare. And Castlevania too; I wouldn't go near that without abusing savestates. EDITS: Actually, I "beat" Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness a while back. When I say beat I mean I got to the end of the story. The end of a few of the stories actually, but nowhere near a "complete" game. I don't think I have that kind of endurance. I got the best ending, the Downer ending, a couple of the Bad endings, the Take Over the World! ending, and the normal Etna ending. Nothing to brag about because all of it was pretty easy stuff, but maybe if I ever get the urge I'll sit down and finish it up.

I beat Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box sometime back in either July or August. I think I'm getting really close to making it through Final Fantasy II right now, though.
I doubt I could ever do a complete run of any current-gen game now, though my brother and I are working on getting all the star coins in the New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Do combined efforts count?

I finished Rockman DASH 2 for PSP on November 30th. I spent so many hours trying to get first place in all of the races on Saul Kada, and I felt so proud when I finally did it! I'm not lying when I say that the last race took me more than 3 hours to do, because I was always a few milliseconds off, so I thought, "hey, I'm sure to beat the time on my next try," but I never did. Until I actually TIED the best score, which gave me second place. In the first Legends game, wasn't a tie with the best score considered first place? I realized to save time, I was supposed to go right over one of those panels (you know, the ones that slow Mega Man down) instead of going around it.
Anyway, I loved it, and I was going to go for 100% completion until I realized I would need to do the side quests in order to accomplish that....and like in another recent thread, I wasn't going to attempt answering the questions on Manda Island!
I also finished The World Ends With You about two weeks ago. This is a fantastic game that is very innovative and original. I think it's one of the best DS games that I've ever played. I really liked the music, totally my style! The ending blew my mind, but I won't say anything because of spoilers.

The ending blew my mind, but I won't say anything because of spoilers. Thanks (is currently playing it). To me, this game is getting more and more complicated. It's hard to concentrate on both screens because the auto AI feature for the guy in the top screen is so stupid and slow i might as well turn it off and just bash the d pad randomly all the time. Also, deciding on which pins to use is a GAWD DAYM pain, after all most of the ones that shoot are simple variation of brands. Speaking of brands, i hate the brands system. I won't deny that it is an innovative, interesting game, specially for the DS which rarely has any good titles at all, but i also can't deny that it will blow the mind of thousand of gamers not used to complex systems. As for the audio tracks, yes, they're cool, but they're not too many and listening to the same EEEYAAAAH EEEEEYAAAAH EEEEEEYAAAAH theme over and over and over and over each time the jukebox randomly changes tunes can be extremely annoying. I ended up turning off the volume in a fit of RAEG because i heard a sweet overworld tune which i wanted to keep on, and while i was trying to tap my partner my hand slipped and i accidentally pressed the cellphone icon. After i came back to the overworld scene, the song had effectively changed to EEEEEYAAAAAH EEEEYAAAAH again.

Just completed the Story Mode of KH 358/2 Days. For what it's worth, the ending more than made up for the boring introduction and the insane missions they bombard you with in the last two months before the 358th day. All in all, a worthy addition to the KH series...to my standards. I won't speak for any of the true Kingdom Heart fans. (I wouldn't push myself that far. I'm particularly fond of the musical score, though. The piano sure is rousing.)
I also finished The World Ends With You about two weeks ago. This is a fantastic game that is very innovative and original. I think it's one of the best DS games that I've ever played. I really liked the music, totally my style! The ending blew my mind, but I won't say anything because of spoilers. The soundtrack actually gets you pumped in the fights. At the beginning it didn't really do it for me, but as I got slowly got immersed within the game I found myself nodding my head. Best Boss battle theme: "GIVE ME ALL YOUR LOOOVE!" (Cue the beat.) Yeah, that song stuck with me for some reason.

I have beaten Pokemon Ranger last week Saturday.
It was quite a fun game; and I found it quite refreshing compared to the main series. It's quite an easy game to play, although some captures can become hair-pulling when not prepared.
I was quite annoyed how they made it blatantly obvious who the Big Bad was. Earlier in the game, you had to escort an old man out of the maze of a forest. While you escort him out of the forest, he would insult you and would do an eye-rolling "Mwhahaha" pose before he talks. Before you meet him, you would find out that he had scared a little girl's Jigglypuff. He also made a Murkrow upset. I had found him to be the lamest villian, until I had defeated the Manaphy requested.
Depsite this, I really did enjoy this game. 7.5/10

Ah, Pokemon Ranger, I really loved that game. It was neat how you made friends with Pokemon instead of beating them up. I also really found the Go-Rock Squad to be very endearing, and their backstory was revealed bit by bit, just at the right pace. If only you could train the Pokemon... *sigh* I recently beat Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Quite a fun game, but not as good as the previous two, in my opinion. At least the plot and setting where really great. Plus, Fawful's dialogue was several times more hilarious than it was in the first games. To think he speaks fairly normally in the most other versions... Poor people. They can't quote Fawful's lines of fury. I also beat the original Mario and Luigi for the dozenth time a few days ago. I'm at level 50, so *SPOILERS* Mario and Luigi go faster than Bowletta and Cacletta's spirit, and can KO the former with one Bros. attack. Yet the time bomb still goes off. Now, every single attack the ghost throws at me does 1 damage. It's become pointless.

I've beaten quite a bit of games recently really. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Just about everything about this game was incredible. It raises the bar of how video games should be developed. My personal game of 2009. Modern Warfare 2 - Yeah yeah, that game. I admit, the campaign was really awesome compared to the boring one in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Multi-player is still really boring though... Brütal Legend - Besides the clumsy strategy system used during Stage Battles, and the fact that a lot of the dialogue sounded like it was made for kids, this game was pretty awesome. You could say that I've been "beating" visual novels too. And I think this thread is as good as any to bring up The Backloggery, which is shown in my current signature. It's basically a place to log your gaming career and sharing it.

Megaman 4, no savestates, no easy mode, three lives when continuing, final destination. Just the straight up NES cart, emulated in Jnes.
That's 1-4 beaten so far. Playing through 5 now.

Just got done with my third play through of Final Fantasy VIII with my new favorite team consisting of Squall, Irvine, and Zell. My first play through with all the men of the series. I usually go for Squall, Quistis and Rinoa. (Invincible Moon FTW)
Ultimecia was my worst nightmare when I was younger. I remember getting through her third form (Junction Griever) and almost giving up when she revealed her TRUE form. Geez, it was ridiculous.
Now since I have a better grasp over the magic junctioning system, I just hit her with a cast of Meltdown and have Squall 'Renzokuken' the crap out of her until she stops breathing. Quistis's 'Shockwave Pulsar' is pretty nice, too.
Checklist: ☑ All GF's claimed, including the infamous Eden. ☑Completed Card Quest ☑Obliterated Ultima Weapon ☑Did PuPu sidequest
All I have left is Omega Weapon, which I can sum up in just one word. ARRRRGH! Curse you Terra Break!

Mega Man Zero 1 without cyber elves and losing a life (a wonderful challenge - took a LONG time to get the last level right).
Double Dragon. What a joyful game. =D
River City Ransom, though that doesn't really count since the game is comfortably beatable in fifteen minutes and I've done it about 200 times already (not kidding - the replay value is ASTOUNDING). :/
Working on Legends 2 now.

Pokemon Ranger: Shadow of Almia: A very fun game that's a huge improvement over the sequel. I definitely loved the fact that from the beginning, the player's been assigned to important missions. I also like the fact the villian was only revealed at the end of the game, and that gave slight hints instead of shoving it in your face prematurely. Some scenes here and there were stupid ("Keith, I'm pretty sure you can jump out of the helicopter safely. The 'copter's just a couple of feet off the ground, and no one on it has any weapons on you. So, jump! Do you know how freakin' hard it was to get the Yellow Gem?") Overall a 9/10.
Pokemon Diamond: Fun game. I had beaten Platinum quite awhile ago, but I finally gotten around to beating this game. I'm amazed Cyrus didn't come off as creepy as he did in Platinum. Although, I had to admit I shivered for poor Dawn as she's trudging through Snowpoint without proper attire. Brrr. 8/10.
Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace: The best out of the series. I enjoyed the plot a lot, and how this game wrapped up the trilogy up nicely. There were a couple of plotholes I wished were filled in, but I can live with it.
Mega Man Star Force 2 Ninja x Zerker: A pretty poor game of the series. Had good points, had some bad points. Since I played this game side by side with Mega Man ZX Advent, some things mirrored each series, intentional or not (Lady Vega and Albert want to become a god in their respective worlds, Mu and Ouroborous a big threat that floated in the sky. Ashe/ Grey and Mega Man Stelar [My nickname for the Star Force Mega Man] were stuck on a falling "fortress", and someone saved them before they got killed). I'll give a 6/10.

I think either Mega Man Powered Up or Mega Man X6. Either way, I lost track of how many times I beat them.
