Name: Firushudot HP: 512 Location: Lake Jyun Ruins | |
Overview
Welcome to the 2nd installment in the 'Rate that Reaver' series! This time the topic is about Firushudot, a reaverbot who really believes that there is strength in numbers. They are found in a peculiar hallway in Lake Jyun's ruins, in which there are walls of water on each side. They simply swim around peacefully until an intruder is spotted, in which case they proceed to attack their new-found target.
Appearance wise, Firushudot looks like a medium-sized robotic alligator. They are rather aggressive, firing rather powerful sonic waves at any diggers they spot. This is a rather interesting contrast to typical reaverbots, who don't attack unless provoked or disturbed. These reaverbots drop a rather handsome amount of zenny when killed as well, although they certainly put up a good fight!
Dealing With It
Firushudot likes to attack in numbers, firing multiple sonic waves that do heavy damage to the target. The best way to knock these guys out is to attack from from long-range. If too many of them are close to you, they can quickly overwhelm you. Taking them on one on one is your best bet.
Keep in mind that you can simply fire into the water walls and kill them, but you won't get any zenny. This method is much safer, and could save you some trouble. Also, the sonar waves can be blocked by the Shield Arm, but they will push you backwards, leaving you at a heavy disadvantage.
Coming In For A Landing
Firushudot is a pretty nice design for a reaverbot, one of my favorites actually. The sight of the Firushudot coming out of the water walls is one of the most recognizable moments in the Legends series. The Firushudot rates a perfect 10 from me!

Don't know how to rate it. I didn't really like these guys because they were impossible to defeat. I always ended up just sprinting through that hallway.

Same here. I never took the time to stop and kill them. I was always too terrified by them to even try. 3/10 from me.

I hate them because I'm a lousy digger.
..not.
I think the design is really cool, and as reavers go, I had an easier time* dealing with just about everything else in the game. (Even the boss reavers! [read: not including non-reaver bosses]) I'd give this one a perfect ten, but in terms of awesome points I find it second to one, so we'll call it a 9.
* - should probably clarify, while Firushudot are far from impossible to beat, I take more damage from them than from even the big intimidating reavers like Hanmuru Doll, Karumuna Bash, or Garudoriten, just because they all come at you at once. >___<

They were a bit tough to beat, but not invincible. My last playthrough of MML I cleared the hallway a few times for for Zenny. It's not that bad if you have a good camera angle set and move a lot (It also helps if you only have to deal with one section of the hall at a time). I'd give 'em a 9/10.

First time I played I had the natural urge to zip down long hallways with the jet skates, and I went right past 'em. When I stopped to decide which direction to go in I was ambushed and raped to death with lazery donuts from a faceless enemy. D:
I give it an 8 of 10.
Do Karumuna Bash next, 'cause I want one. <3

Years ago we had a favorite MML1 reaverbot poll here on the forums, and these guys got my vote. I've played through the game many more times and much more thoroughly since then, so they may not be my absolute #1 anymore, but regardless I'll go with a 10/10.
I love the design, and the exclusive uniqueness of their environment is really cool as well. As others have already said, though there are much bigger fish to fry XD these are some of the only reaverbots who I think have the potential to instill panic as you find yourself surrounded by them in a narrow hallway with blue rings impairing your vision.

I'd give them a 9/10. I had a lot of fun with these guys, especially the water barriers and that crappy Grenade Arm weapon. Tossing grenades through the water was fun!

I FEEL YOUR PAIN! I don't know why I even thought they were just there for looks! 8/ 10 because I hate underwater enemies pretending to be part of the background. Nope...I just hate underwater enemies period. MML2 must have read my mind and decided to throw in those sharks.

Oh, thanks! Glad you guys are enjoying these; positive reception really helps!

The best part about is that on your first playthrough, you never see them coming. At least you have 4 different exits to leave through, provided they don't find some way to surround you.
Will do! ;D

8/10. They are strong in groups and even when alone. They can really gang up on you and cause GREAT problems if things get too worse with them.

9/10 Unexpected, interesting, tough to fight and just generally cool and fun. These guys definitely surprised me, my first time through I realized they were there and spent a good five minutes figuring out how I wanted to proceed. Then I started shooting the nearest one through the water wall only to realize that there were two OUT of the the water further of the hall just before getting destroyed and booking it back out of the dungeon to recharge my health. The next time I just ran through and I kept doing that until my third play in which I discovered they were even tougher than I had thought.
The Lake Jynn sub gate in general specialized in surprising the player with new and dangerous enemies.
Actually on that note maybe you can also do a series on the ruins, as well as other combat areas, once you are through the bosses and enemies.

I agree with Dragge, qwertman and Fromme. They are too dangerous to attack. 3/10.

My god that hallway haunted me as a little kid... I still feel the urge to run for my life whenever I get near there. All in all Lake Jyun was my worst nightmare when I first played MML1, those invisible Sharakurusu's, the charging turtles, and these guys... *shudders* 10/10, though...they're still one of my favorite Reavers.
