I and Dash Myoku came up with the idea to remake Megaman Legends on RPG Maker 2000. Sounds difficult but actually is not. We recruited Finalhazard as the mapmaker and spriter. Dash is going to remix most, if not all, of the themes and put them into .wav format. I'm the character/enemy configurer and game programmer.
We're going to post here with updates and stuff as time goes on.
But we are finding it difficult to find good Facesets for the chars. I wish to ask any MMLS administrator who is available if we may use the faceshots in the Character Description area of MML1 as the Facesets in the game.
Oh, and if we feel it is necessary we will continue the story after Juno and bridge the gap in-between MML1 and MML2 our style but still stay in line with everything that happens in MML2. And if we ever get everything done, we MAY attach MML2's original storyline to the end of the gap, so we don't have to worry about making too many high-level areas... or we could just make another game for MML2. Whichever works better. But we're just focusing on making the MML1 storyline right now.
So what does everyone think? This will be updated with any news or upgrades to the game. We will release a test version probably after the Hammul Doll battle to let everyone see what we're doing.
EDIT: Ah... we also wish to ask if we can use the screenshots on MMLS. We could put them on the screen during parts of the game to make better sense of what's going on.

Someone on some other forum made a MML RPG with RPG maker that was... meh. It was its own storyline, not following the games by any means, took a few liberties that no one understood, and really was pretty lazy work.. I'm skeptical.
MMLS's screenshots are watermarked. I have the PC version of MML1, and I have to play through it for ... reasons, though, so if you'd like, point me to some scenes of choice and I'll try to snag a few shots for ya.

Ah, thanks. Mostly shots of all of the bosses (One frontalshot at least of each, can take your time because if we DON'T get the screenshots we'll keep going without them until we get one. So it's no problem if you don't have time and we've already gotten to that point. Take your time if you do want to do this.) and that's mainly it. I need Faceshots though...
EDIT: Actually, the characters themselves (And Reaverbots) can be edited to where "Legends Station" is taken out so we can use Reaverbots' screenshots in our battles. But in order to do this we have to ask the site admins if we can do that. Who should I ask?

Interesting as long as you follow the story lin. Isn't RPG Maker 2000 something PS2 came out with?

Yes, but it's also on computer. A lot of us have the translated version. (Which my friend now says is a pirated version. ) We're following the storyline but we're ALSO going to create a separate realm (Away from the game) for MMLS members to be so you can speak with them and stuff. That part was Dash Myoku's idea. ... And if RPGM2k/2k3 is pirated, does that now mean we can't post it here? ;

It is pirated. RPGMaker XP is available commercially now though. They literally brought RPG Maker XP over in English so that people would stop pirating it. DON'T PIRATE SOFTWARE! THAT GOES TO EVERYBODY. Anyways, not much you can do about it now, and I guess you didn't know in the first place. I hope the project goes well. I'd love to see a Hanmaru Doll battle. Awesome sweet! With RPGMaker XP, you can actually draw your own character pics, character icons, monsters, and monster icons. I don't have it myself or anything though.

We can't stop now. Already made Trigger and got ready to do everything else, and we've planned quite a bit. Guess we're going to keep going with using RM2K.
EDIT: We're beginning tomorrow (hopefully) with everything.
Dash is going to begin remixing if he can, he doesn't know if he has work or not.
Finalhazard is going to do the chipset for the first ruins 'n stuff.
I'm going to finish setting up Trigger's moves, and see if I can set up some other things. But until I get the first map I can't really do much else. XD
NOTE: We are currently deciding whether to make the dialogue in-game EXACTLY as the Game Script in MML was or change some of it around so it's not an almost-perfect facsimile. What are your thoughts on this matter, MMLS-ers?

I think the dialog should remain intact for the most part. Maybe cut out some of the lesser NPCs, but scenes and plot-related materials should be just aboot the same.

Hm. I see. I guess that would be best. FaceSets are ready! img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/WarriorXero/mmlstuff/MMLFaceSets2.pngMany thanks to Fab for allowing me to use the FaceShots from the site. Unfortunately, my resizing them to fit the FaceSet limit sort of messed them up. And yes, I cannot put 12 on there. When I put a FaceSet into the game I have to take out one color. And if I had 12 Faces in the FaceSet, I'd have to take out blue and that would ruin the entire picture. So I made the 12th face area red so I could take out that color. I plan to ask Finalhazard to edit these if he can. If not, I could try my luck (no promises that it'll be too good though XD) but these are the faces we are probably going to use. We have a second set of faces we can use too if these don't look so good. I'll let you all have a look at them too: img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/WarriorXero/mmlstuff/CustomMugs1.pngThey're from Official Art and they were created by the person who created Megaman Reploid Legacy (that MML game from another forum, I'd bet), and yes it has a few non-MML and MML2 faces, but it has some good ones. So which ones should we use? Should I or FH attempt to fix the first set, or should we use the second set? Note that if we use the second one we'll be fresh out of luck for some FaceSets.

The second set does have some appealing ones, but I think that the first are probably more functional. I was wondering; don't you think you ought to have a Junk Store Owner mugshot? He seemed like a fairly important character, or I mean, he has dialogue and is visited recurringly throughout the game. I wish I had something to contribute myself. You don't have any space in your game for custom enemies, do you? I could make designs for characters, reaverbots, robots, etc. if you needed anything original. This is a fan game based on the actual story though, so I guess that for the purpose of authenticity, you don't need any of that junk. Just say if there's anything you could use though.

That's not all of them. That's just the first set. There's going to be a second set. I know I missed quite a few people. But, ah... the Junk Store Owner and his Wife are not shown on the char list at MMLS. I'll have to get those somehow else. But how I'm not sure.

Actually, just for right now we're working on a direct copy from MML. After we're finished with that, I believe that we're going to begin work on a fan-based MML, which would include some, if not all of the regular members on MMLS. Plus some extra features and different music...and having custom enemies for that wouldn't be so bad ya know xP

Yeah. I'm the mapmaker. Unfortunately, I'm not really ready: I have no screens of the first ruin to go along, so until I get good screens, there won't be any action from me. Anyone care to help out by providing screencaps of the first ruin, so I can make a map chipset? :3

OK, where do you get this program? And is it the sme as the PS2 version? Also, is it legal? Because if it isn't I'm not dowloading it.

It's not the same as the PS2 version. It's been around quite a bit longer than that game. And it pretty much is illegal, but the version you're talking about, I believe was only commercially available in some crazy language(German, Russian, something like that). It was translated and distributed freely illegally. There's supposedly an XP version you can buy now as aimman or someone pointed out.
