I shall copy/paste my own tutorial about image posting:
How to upload and submit images in posts
The useful guide that all n00bs ask but no member is willing to give
By Mir@k
This tutorial is about how to post image files in your message board posts and it's ordered in an easy step by step walktrough:
First of all, you must have the following to achieve the goal of this tutorial:
1. The image you want to post
2. The forum in which you want to post
Before anything else, let me recall something: Posting images in forums is fun and adds a cool touch to your posts, however, before posting images you have to make sure of some things, the most important of them all are:
+ Make sure the image fit's in the rules of the forum you're browsing! This means that most of the sane message boards has NSFW (not suitable for work) rules, no porn, no hentai, no racism, no swearing etc. Don't get yourself into trouble, follow the rules and dont post images with that content.
+ Make sure the image is not large, if the image is too big it will stretch the forum and will probably get you out of the forum or warned.
# About the rule avobe, this is taken too for the NSF56K (Not suitable from 56 kbps users) rule, some people have slow internet, large images 'kills' their internet, lagging and in some cases crashing their computers, use your common senses and avoid getting kicked out.
+ Make sure to avoid 'IMGONLY' (image only) posts, dont post an image in every post you make, is very annoying and nothing is more scary than an annoyed moderator.
Well, now that you know that, let us get to the good stuff.
You have your image and the forum in which you want to post it, now let's go to the steps:
1. Go to
www.imageshack.us, this site is special, it hosts any kind of image file (With the following formats: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, tif, tiff, swf, and the image needs to be below 1.5 Megabytes) into the internet for free and without having to register, so go there.
2. Click in the 'examine' button in the imageshack main page and browse your PC until you find your image, select it and press 'upload', wait some seconds.
3. A new window will appear, in this window you'll notice a lot of textboxes in which are various types of links, next to them are quick explanations of them.
* Example: "http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/1051/iwantmuffinsdn5.png --> Direct link to image"
4. Now, read all the explanations and then you'll notice some familiar things, like 'hotlink for forums'. Now we come to make a choice: 'The easy way' or 'The advanced way', follow you path as you will:
* The easy way .-
1. Copy the link of the one that says 'Hotlink for forums (1)' by clicking on the link and pressing 'Control (Ctrl)' and 'C' at the same time
2. Then, go to your post in your forum and pressing 'Control (Ctrl)' and 'V' at the same time, you'll notice that the code you copied was pasted in the post
3. Press submit (or 'add reply') and you'll see that the code that you pasted transformed automatically into your image, but when you put the mouse over it, the imageshack link will appear as a link if you click the image, when you follow the advanced way this will dissappear.
* The advanced way
1. Copy the link that says 'Direct link to image' and go to your forum, we'll use tags for posting them, write this into you post:
[img][/img]
2. Now go between
[/img] and press 'Control (Ctrl)' and 'V' in your keyboard, your link should be amongst ']['
* Example:
[img]http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/1051/iwantmuffinsdn5.png[/img]
3. When you submit your reply you'll see that the image appeared instead of the code, plus, is a plain image, without the annoying imageshack link!
* IMPORTANT: The code will not work if you leave spaces between the '][' tags!
That's basically all that's into posting images in any board that allows BB code (the code of the '[ ]' tags.), i hope this helps you to avoid flaming in a new forum, remember that the first impression counts a lot!
