I recently read an old article in my local newspaper saying that 50% of teens admit to have experienced hearing loss due to them blasting their music at full volume. Does anyone here do that? If so, I think you should keep the volume down at their normal level. I mean, you can already hear the music well right? People don't need to blast them, unless they want it to sound like a rock concert, which is bad. Once someone breaks that eardrum, they won't be able to listen to music ever again! If you see someone else blasting their music, tell them that they may break their eardrum!

I honestly don't think anybody would listen if I asked them. But anyway, I've been listening to this random, burned CD of songs in Italian, and there's this really cool one that I want to learn the words to, but since it's a burned CD I don't know the title, and since it's in Italian, I can't google a fragment of the lyrics.

Who exactly did you obtain the CD from, goob'? Just ask them. Unless they're deceased. Then don't ask them.
I'm filling... spiffy today.
@ RockMan: I agree, but as goob' said, no one would care to listen. No one. Seriously. They'd turn it down momentarily, and whilst they're in your company, then the second you're out of sight, it goes back up to 100%. I'm not sure why people enjoy it so.... From my experience, I've come to accept it as really static-y, and undistinguishable...

Oh, so it's goob' now, eh? Does that mean I should call you CL now? That sounds really...dumb. To be completely honest, my dad got it from a friend of his who got it from a friend of his. And the only reason I wound up with it was because he left it in my computer. Just trying to figure out the original artist would get pretty messy.

I really don't have a favourite type of music...I just flip stations on the radio until I find something I like. I don't know any of the singers that are famous now..it's sad really, I plan on going into music, so I'd probably need to know something about current music. I really like video game music, I could listen to that stuff all day. Anime music is pretty good as well, but I have no clue what they are saying.
About the loud music, my brother does does that all the time. I love the quiet, but he has the volume so loud, you can literally hear it from outside the house. He's going to have a lot of hearing loss when he's older. Even though I never listen to music with the volume loud, I'll probably have a lot of hearing loss in the future because I play the flute. Something about the high, piercing pitches from the flute....at least it effects me in the right ear, and apparently the Violin effects me in the left ear. Darn, I hope I'm not going to be deaf when I'm old because of music. What would be the point in that? Maybe music is really the root of all evil! The people who play music are the ones who pay the price...nah.

I doubt an instrument would effect you to that great of an extent. I play the guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and sing, and my hearing is still superlative, and at its optimal effeciency... I think o_-;

Well the genre "Heavy Rock" like kattelox said is actually either "Heavy metal", or "Hard rock". Lars Frederikson and the Bastards and Judas Priest could be examples of Hard Rock, I guess... As for Heavy Metal, there's Black Sabbath, and maybe Blue Oyster Cult.
Well anyway, I'm not too sure about the Metal genre, as I myself listen primarily to Punk, but I'm fairly positive about the bands I mentioned, and their proper category.

I think o_-; Maybe not to the point where you go completely deaf, but certain instruments certainly do help with hearing loss. More than one musician/music teachers have mentioned the risk. Of course, they said something like the piano wouldn't be a problem, because the sound isn't as close to your ears, unlike some of the woodwind instruments. Maybe the drums would be a problem....I'm not really sure. One of my music teachers said that it was recommended that they get special earplugs made to help with this problem, but then it was said the earplugs did nothing at all. XD

I honestly don't think anybody would listen if I asked them. You never know, you never know. There may be this one person actually cares about his hearing that happens to play loud music.

I dunno, I don't usually listen to any one particular type of music. I rather just avoid certain types, like country or rap, although even with that there's still select songs I like in them ^^;
I guess though, overall my thing would be something with a beat, or something trance, or techno-y. Songs you can dance to are a plus with me (especially if they're anime, like EXE's "Be Somewhere"), even though I'm never one to keep the bass driven up (can't stand the pounding in my head that makes, it always makes me sick XD; ). And like I just hinted at, if it's anime or heck, even game music (FF7's soundtrack is <3), I'll probably listen to it.
And as far as the volume goes, I typically keep it at a level that will blast the house, until the point my room door is shut, at which point it's a distant, muffled throb (if that makes sense). And never at full level XD; Unless it's "Still More Fighting" from FF7, then we'll talk...

I used to play loud music a lot, but now don't play it loud at all. Dunno what happened there. But yes, slight diversion here, but has anyone happened to come across the song "Maemuki Rocketto-Dan"? It's a japanese song performed by Team Rocket and I think it was used in the Pokémon ending credits in Japan. Anyway, essentially, it's a crap song. But I'm addicted to it. It's so chirpy, goofy and full of life - not to mention catchy. I've got the intro "Pappa para-para-para-para-para! Pappa-para pappa!" going round and round in my head right now. Hopefully if anyone here's listened to it they'll know what I'm going on about. ^_^;
