Who here is "bananas" about Ape Escape? I love Ape Escape one and Ape Escape 2, but Ape Escape one more because Ape Escape 2 is full of those stupid banana and ape/ monkey puns, and Spike, whom I think is the coolest video game character, and also the most overlooked character, is in the first one. Well, he is in the second one, but not like in the first one. Just the concept of using the analog sticks is well done and the music (in the first one at least ) RULES. GO DOWNLOAD THE GALAXY MONKEY THEME. IF YOU CAN'T FIND IT, IM ME AND I'D BE GLAD TO SEND IT ALONG. P.S.: TOP BANANA!!!

I hadn't played Ape Escape at all until yesterday, when I was testing it out at work to see if a Dual Shock controller functioned properly. And I must say, it's kind of interesting. I may end up procuring the PSX game for my very own at some point in the future, because it really seems so off-the-wall that I can't help but like it.

I played and LOVED the first one. I never played the second, because it looked like it would suck. Is it any good?

Ape Escape = ♥
No questions asked.
That game's part my list of PSX games that I can play forever without getting sick of them. (the others are brave fencer musashi and the legends series.)
As for the new ones, I've never actually played any of them. Either I'm old school (yo!), or just way broke.
Ooh, I love the music in the carnival level. It brings back memories of the good old days...

Ape Escape is possibly one of the most innovative games I ever played. I beat the first one, and almost beat the second one...
And for the record, Specter is cool. He is the coolest monkey ever. Do not deny it.

I HAVE the game. It's just getting the FG-Before-She-Took-An-Interest-In-Legends treatment: In a closet or box somewhere, probably played once.
Lot of people seem to like it. Maybe I should go dig it up...

Who the heck DOESN'T like Ape Escape? I have never met a single person on the internet or in real life who has played Ape Escape and not enjoyed it. It's because Ape Escape is simply the bomb. The original Ape Escape blew my mind because of the way the analog sticks are the core of the game. In fact, it's probably Ape Escape that got me using the analog stick AT ALL and why I automatically default to it whenever I play a PS/2 game (which really messes me up sometimes ). I'd recommend the second game to fans of the first. Really, it's just more of the same thing, but it's much more fluid and it's cool to see it with such sweet graphics. The Gotcha Box is SWEET! You can use your coins to buy stuff out of the machine, like in Wario Ware: Twisted!. There are tons of extras you can win. And the Freaky Monkey Five are hilarious because they're just so WRONG and random and, uh, freaky. Really freaky. Especially Yellow Monkey. The corny story is largely ignorable (and oh my gosh, it is nowhere near as hideously barfy as the "STORY" in Super Monkey Ball 2, so don't draw any parallels between monkey games). Some people may be irritated by the fact that Jimmy, the new hero, combined with Natalie and the new little baby robo monkey (THAT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE A MONKEY), are a blazingly obvious spoof/rip-off of the heroes of Pokémon. I mean Pipotchi, the baby monkey, can only say "PIPO! PIPO!" Hm, a creature that can only say its name. Where have I heard that before? But that's another reason why Spike's version is the best because you don't have to put up with Ash Jimmy. But I don't think the story scenes really detract from the games because there aren't that many... And it's just that kind of crap that HAS to be in every game because every game has to have some kind of plot these days. (And may I add that Pipotchi's existence is NEVER EXPLAINED?!) Also, let me express my DEEP LOVE for Monkey Climber. It is the best, most brain-splittingly difficult mini-game ever and it just makes me so mad that 1) it wasn't longer 2) THE MULTIPLAYER VERSION SUCKS! I mean GOSH! There's only one stage and it's just two ropes straight up! Where's the challenge in that?! (Not to mention my brother is so bad at it, I can fling myself over to HIS ropes and get his bananas before he can...) But I still think that Monkey Climber needs to be its own game, but I guess it's not really meaty enough to be one and couldn't be on a handheld because of the whole analog thing... But it's so fun. AAAAH. I love it. So much that I'll admit it: I do the monkey victory dance too. It sure took forever to come out though... And I thought it was going to be really different at first. I kept reading things about how instead of catching the monkeys in a net, you vacuumed their pants off. Weird. I wonder whatever happened to that? (NOT THAT I MIND NOT SEEING NUDE MONKEY BUTTS.) I bought an Eye Toy just because I heard they were developing an Ape Escape game for it... INVOLVING SCULPTING AN AFRO WITH YOUR HANDS. Too zany to resist. Though, I think it might have died somewhere back there... Darn you poorly supported peripherals! Wait... WHOA! According to GameFAQs, it came out in Europe and Japan BUT NOT HERE! OMG! I FEEL SO GYPED!!! I heard awful things about that multiplayer game they made for the PS2 though. Did anybody play it? I was too afraid it would ruin my warm feelings for the series. Not to mention nobody will play games with me, so multiplayer/party games don't do much for me. Speaking of the sick and wrong, Ape Escape on PSP?! WTF WERE THEY THINKING?! DUDE! THAT GAME WAS NOT MEANT TO BE PLAYED WITHOUT A DUAL SHOCK CONTROLLER! Just... WRONG. SO WRONG. I don't know why Sony doesn't make more of their own games. Ape Escape is AWESOME as was the Parappa series... I've heard good things about Jumping Flash too. Wonder what's up with that?

WOW, I didn't think that many people had played it! The voice acting in the first one has to be the best voice acting in any game ever because it's believeable (as believeable as you can get when you have a story about time traveling monkeys ) and is perfect for each character. What's everyone's favorite gadget? I think the dash hoop or super hoop is the GREATEST ever!!! I barely use the stun club if I have the dash hoop equipped. And yes, you should pick up Ape Escape 2. I just played through it recently, and it has MAXIMUM retail value. My old PS2 couldn't play the copy I bought for some wierd reason, so that's one of the reasons I got a new one . It's that good! Also, I hear they're coming out with a third one!

My favorite gadget is the helicopter thing.
Why? Two words: Higher Jumps.
Yep. I love that thing, and it saves my butt a lot.

Is Ape Escape: Pumped and Primed any good? I've only heard bad things. Is there ANY singleplayability? Cause PS2 is NOT a multiplay system..... sorry..... I just want Ape Escape 3 . I saw a trailer of it. You get new costumes in each world with new gadgets. Like they had an Old West level and you got a net gun to catch monkeys. AND GUESS WHAT!?!?? YOU CAN BE A BOY OR A GIRL!!!!! YAY!!!! Wait..... that's not that good.....

I remember Ape Escape...but I never beat it. I was only like 7-8 at the time, so my brothers would rarely let me play anything(other than Legends and Spyro). Now you guys have got me wanting to play it this summer...Must..play...monkey catching game after I beat like 5 other games! I remember my brother had this demo of Ape Escape, and the main character sounded like a kid. Then when he got the real version he sounded so mature. He hit puberty between the demo and the real game. XP

Funny...I just bought this game about two days ago and I have yet to play it. Although, I've expressed wanting to play this game when it came out, yet I didn't get a chance to... ;_;
