IMO, Halo is an okay game, but it is highly overrated. Also, I'd say the second one wasn't as good as the first one.

You can not realy have any complaints on halo... The battle system is superior to all other battle systems. I play on Xbox live once in a while, and I have found that halo has the most practical and... fun battle systems, due to the recharging shield which did add a whole for the FPS, and also the realistic-ness of how you may die, as well as the fact that master-chief is phased by bullets, which moves the crossair. I could go on about the battle system but I'll say a sentence or two on why the story is also fantastic/superior. The story of halo does a fantastic job of keeping the gamer on the edge of his/her seat. Also, it appeals to one's emotions by giving a heroic aura to the game. (eg. Should I risk my life to save those marines or shouldn't I?) Also because earth counts so much on master-chief, and the story forces you to put yourself into his shoes, you can't help but like the story. Also, it can be blatantly said that the story is good. FPSs are actually way down on my list of preferred games, but I think halo is one of the best (along with goldeneye and half-life). Hmmmm but yes, it is overrated greatly... so is Xbox

Exactly! finally people who I can trust! lol. Honestly, I also think it's an ok game but it really is overated, and while we're at it, Xbox thinks it's so great cause it appeals to 'mature gamers'. But mature games aren't necessarily good ones. It's stealing the spotlight from truly good games such as Legend of Zelda, or Kingdom Hearts or even the megeman series, which are truly good games

Halo isn't overrated, people only say that because of n00bs that think it's the best thing since breathing. I actually like Halo, the online play is what makes it a very good game. But the story...it's ok I guess. Save the world, what else is new? I'll have to go with Tronfan, the game does kind of give you a sense of urgency and heriocness. But it lost points because of the changing sides feature. I wasn't too fond about playing as the Covienant (sp?), I wanted to be kicking their arses...but what can ya do.
stallmaster, Halo doesn't really steal the spotlight. It's not Microsoft's fault that they put a lot of money into marketing the game. And really, it doesn't even steal a lot of the spotlight in that sense. But it is sort of Nintendo/SqareEnix/Capcom's fault for not marketing their games as much as they should. They rely on the fan-base to do that for them in various online forums and what not. It's not a bad way of going about it, but you get a lot of people that think those games are the best thing since water. If you think about it, a lot of games are overrated nowadays and there's not much we can do about it except gather our own opinions about the "overrated" games by playing them ouerselves.
Anyway, Halo isn't a terrible a game. It's the only FPS that I'm interested in and probably the only one I'll ever be interested in *Is more of a RPG/Action/Adventure/Fighting guy.*

But...but...ALL THOSE OTHER GAMES REALLY ARE THE BEST THING SINCE WATER! I suppose if you think about it, people tend to be more likely to view things they don't like as being overrated. I do think Microsoft goes a bit overboard with advertising (they should be putting that money into developing some better games, @#$% it!). And I do think that Bill Gates is the last person on earth who should be taking over the gaming industry, not that has anything to do with the topic. But, alas, to each their own. I guess in the end it can be argued that pretty much any game with a huge following can be labeled as "overrated." Of course, in my opinion Halo is still the most overrated of them all!

Well I put it in qoutation marks because it's a term used by the "uber l33t noob pwners" but yeah. all it means is that its a game that is made accessible so that everyone can play. They made it easy or whatever but it isn't like other games that always have people not likeing them(Metal Gear, Zelda, LEGENDS). When you make a game you usually make it like a person. It has a personality and some people just don't like some personalities. But Halo is a kinda big action flick kinda thing that appeal to just about anybody. Except ofcourse us. But hey i like Halo. I just don't think it deserves all the attention it gets.
