New Years, everyone.
*LOUD SNORT*
*Laughs for 3 minutes straight* [Very mature, Lucy.] I think I need some of that nerve relaxer now that I think of it...
Keep posting more chapters, please. Anything to keep this Unit entertained on its down time. I say take Yuna's advice and go where heart leads you - if continuing with this is where you want to go with this project, then, by all means do it. I just finished recapping the past few chapters this morning...
By the looks of that pic there, MegaMan's gonna have to tussle with more Reaverbots again. Boy, he just doesn't get a break from the madness in his life...

Looks like the views on this thread have been going up slightly. I always love seeing that. Also, much thanks to anyone who has taken the the time to comment, even if you haven't actually had the time to read through everything I've posted quite yet. It's still a huge moral boost. If anything, I'm gonna keep trying to post as much (quality) stuff as I can, if for no other reason, simply because I want some of those swanky account badges. For now, please enjoy my next post. Just keep in mind that this section, similar to the one I posted earlier, is intended to be a supplementary passage that provides additional flavor and nuance to the main chapters. For context, these passages detail a specific mission Mega Man Trigger was tasked with back when he was still a loyal Purifier serving under the Master System. I wish to explore this concept in greater depth in some future project, but for the time being, I hope you all enjoy a taste of what's to come. Chapter 15 will be posted in another week or so.

<Partial Record Recovered…Continuing Memory Playback:>
It was about a half-mile walk to the Main Gate from where he’d set their landing coordinates. Farther than he would have liked…but it seemed the locals had set up residency in close proximity to the target. He’d rather not have to deal with any undue attention right now, and the sudden appearance of an Elysian StarPod had the typical effect of attracting mobs of worshippers.
Trigger tugged at the hems of his cloak, double-checking that his armor was properly concealed as they approached one of the Carbon towns. It was faster to travel through the settlement rather than go around, and besides, he wanted to assess the population growth up close and personally.
Broken comms…he kept trying to convince himself. That’s what she’ll tell me. We can fix that.
The rucksack strapped over his shoulders jostled slightly, his little monkey passenger not appreciating the tight space he’d been consigned to. “Try not to make a ruckus, would you?” he spoke softly, giving the satchel a slight nudge. “We’re trying to blend in.”
Data’s head peeked out. “Aren’t we there, yet?” he complained. “It’s hot in here, and I wanna see, too.”
“Wait till we’re inside, at least,” said Trigger, glancing up at the high stone walls blocking their path forward. “These types of places always try to give you a hard time getting in. I’d rather not waste extra time explaining what you are.”
Trigger carefully slowed his pace as he approached the town’s front entrance. As he’d expected, two Carbon males stood watch at the gates, hands held at their backs as they sternly examined his arrival.
“Peacekeepers…” he groaned under his breath, collecting a quick systems-scan on each of them.
Like most lawmen, they were somewhat taller and bulkier than your average Carbon. Both were adorned in a matching blue garb, each equipped with primitive ballistic devices worn about their waists. Trigger’s scans immediately analyzed their weapons, rating each at a point-zero-two threat percentile. If they were to suddenly open-fire on him, it would take them about two weeks to penetrate his shields – assuming he remained motionless the entire time.
“Halt, stranger!” one of them said as he approached, holding up a hand as though to establish some invisible barrier between them.
Trigger stopped as directed, figuring something like this would probably happen. The one who’d spoken gave him a studious glance from head to toe, mouth puckering nervously as he then said, “I’m sorry, sir. I’m going to need you to remove your helmet and identify yourself, else we can’t let you through.”
“Of course,” Trigger replied cordially, removing his helmet and giving both men a non-threatening smile. His sensors had already detected a sudden rise in their C21H30O5.exe command prompts – the programming equivalent to human cortisol. “Sorry, hope I didn’t alarm you,” he continued, awkwardly rubbing the back of his head. “I heard there might be Reaverbots on this island and…well, can’t be too careful, right?” The clumsy gestures and demeanor seemed to have an effect, causing the man to lower his guard somewhat.
“The Reaverbots stay underground…” the sentry stated flatly, still remaining somewhat cautious, “where they belong. Guessing you’re new here?”
“Yup! Just arrived this morning, in fact. Name’s Traeger. Pleasure to meet you both.”
They both glanced at one another, as if not sure what to make of him. “And…what’s your business here, Mr. Traeger, sir?” the other guard asked.
“Oh, well, I happen to be an archaeologist, you see. I’ve heard so many fascinating tales of the ruins here on Kattelox. I’ve come in hopes of studying them myself.”
“You…came by airship?” the more suspicious of the two asked, making a passing gaze at the empty fields behind Trigger.
Aren’t you an inquisitive one… “Hah! Well I certainly didn’t swim here if that’s what you’re asking,” he replied with a smile, hoping this wouldn’t have to become difficult. “I landed in a clearing about a half-mile back. Just wanted to check a few sites on-foot before making my way to the village.” This was taking too long. He needed to get the Carbon’s attention off of him. “To be honest…I’ve actually worked up quite a bit of an appetite from all that walking. Could you fellows possibly point me to any good eateries around here?”
The guard furrowed his brow and gave the other a quick glance. His companion raised his brow sharply, as if communicating that he wanted this exchange to be over with. “Norma’s Bakery and Grill makes a decent burger,” the other guard said with a jerking crane of his head. “It’s just down a ways. You can’t miss it.”
“You have my thanks,” Trigger bowed graciously. “With your permission, then…I suppose I’ll be off.” He motioned forward, passing between the two of them.
“Just be careful you stay out of trouble,” the guard said brusquely. “You’re welcome to explore the ruins if you want, but the Main Gate…that larger obelisk east of here? I’d steer clear of it if I were you.”
“Oh?” Trigger said, stopping abruptly. “And why is that?”
“Our leader…” the man said, with what almost sounded like a hint of reverence in his voice, “the one who guards this island…she doesn’t like your type going around there. And her punishments can be rather…harsh.”
Trigger’s features grew dark, a sudden tension straining the air as he brooded over the man’s meticulously chosen words. They couldn’t be talking about….
“This leader of yours, ” he said, carefully gauging the man’s rapidly fluctuating vitals. “She knows much about my type?”
“Enough…” the guard replied nervously, his breathing growing shallow. “Enough to know that some strangers like to cause trouble. So again…be careful.”
Trigger monitored the man’s swelling heart-rate, trying to determine whether this Carbon was perhaps more astute than he appeared. He knew more than he was letting on, that was for certain. For now, he would let it be. There were more important matters to attend to. “I’ll be sure to heed your advice,” he nodded, making his way forward.
“Mr. Traeger, was it?” the man spoke again.
Trigger stopped once more, patience wearing thin as he looked back over his shoulder. “Yes?”
“I’d keep that helmet off while you’re in town. Makes people nervous.”
“Hmm. So I’ve noticed,” Trigger said with a polite smile. “Take care, gentlemen.”
The guards said nothing more as he passed through the front gate, merging with the bustling throngs of Carbons who thankfully seemed to pay him no mind. Data poked his head out of the rucksack. “They seemed nice,” he said cheerfully.
Trigger made no response. His hand was cupped under his chin, a stream of anxious thoughts weighing heavily on his CPU. So she doesn’t want strangers going near the Main Gate, hmm? From the way it sounded, seemed this leader of theirs had already dealt with a few of these so-called strangers. Other Purifiers Units, perhaps?
No. It was still too early to be jumping to conclusions. He would speak with Artemis directly. She would explain everything to him. And then…if she did try anything…well….
Data abruptly tugged on the scruff of Trigger’s hair, chirping excitedly as he pointed. “Ki-ki! Look! There it is! There it is!”
Trigger turned to look in the direction Data was pointing, but all he saw was what appeared to be an open-bar establishment of some sort. He glanced upward, reading the sign above the shop.
Norma’s Bakery & Grill
Oh, right…
“You said you were hungry, didn’t you?” said Data. “Well that’s good, cuz I am too!”
“Data…” Trigger said flatly. “I wasn’t actually – ”
“I want my burger with lots of ketchup! Ooh, and extra pickles! Do you think they sell those pie-thingies, too? You should ask if they have apricot!”
Trigger breathed a heavy sigh and turned his gaze towards the east-end of town. A few moments of consideration passed before he glanced back at the bakery. “Actually…I guess I could go for a burger.”

Dude! It's been aaages since I've read this one, and I'm so happy the updates are so recent ahahah. It's Four! I know, I was really pretentious way back in the day, talking like I knew squat about writing (I still don't), self-inserting my own fic (oof), and overall starving for attention (I still am), but I've grown up quite a bit since then ahah ; v ;
That said though... I hope this year has been okay for you. It's been hard on everyone, and I totally understand needing to focus on other things. You just come back to this whenever you feel the time is right, and I'll be here to enjoy your work! Also, the art you've posted around has been super good. I love it haha.
Edit: The writing style is great, btw~

I've spent the last few days catching up on your fic and it's been really enjoyable. It's very cool to see how far you've come as a writer and I hope you keep going!
