Okay, apparently there is some confusion on whats up with MMLEx. Right now I am transiting it from a big massive game, into smaller scenario based missions, which feature a variety of short scenarios. The reason behind this is to cut down on development time, and because a figure it would give a better chance to complete something that people would enjoy. It also gives more of a chance to the fans. Anyone who has a story (With dialog, and a basic description of gameplay) can post it in a thread, and the favorites will be incorporated into MMLEx.
Wait... didn't I say MMLEx was down? Well things have changed a bit. My learning to modeling didn't go as well as planned and is going to take too long, so I decided I might as well try to rebuild MMLEx's staff for a completed project.
And as of another note, with the loss of the concept of MMLEx, 90% of its original staff and ideas, its name will also be changed. This is because MMLEx wasn't meant for short scenarios, it was meant to be a full on sequel (or prequel depending on what time period of development) for the Dash series. I don't think a final name will be chosen until completion of the project, if it reaches it.
Now, more on the scenarios. What we do, is we isolate a situation, and play it out from beginning to end. It may have a town or two, or you may start at the beginning of a ruin and play to the end. There may be character dialog, there may be straight action. All of the scenarios (except when a popular scenario possibly gets a follow up) are completely separate and will not affect each other.
Multiplayer. Looking at the current MMLEx engine right now, multiplayer could have been implemented in a few days. I do not have access to the MMLEx source though, and the coder does not want to release it.
That means we will have to rebuild the engine from scratch, or I'll have to outsmart a person that is 10 times smarter than me into giving the source code. He has no problem with me having it... he is just embarrassed of some of the code in it! He considers it sloppy! I'll work on that later though after we have all the models collected and setup.
Why did I postpone it if you continued anyway? With the loss of Eric a while ago, I was pretty intent on shutting down the project for good. I was several times halfway through the post when I closed the window when I couldn't do it. I had promised the community something years ago and have yet to deliver. I met myself halfway and postponed it so that I was sort of shutting it down without really doing it.
Now, we know that I'm the only person worse with delivering on dates than fab, but I do promise this. Another version of MMLEx will be released in the future. I'm not done with the project yet.
Now, because there is a bit of confusion even among the staff, I wrote up a quick idea about what a scenario story would be like. Its missing some details, and lots of things are left out, but it gives the basic idea of whats going on, and thats all the fan submitted scenarios have to do. Before I forget, it has nothing to do with how I feel about the system or Trigger's training, its just a quick write up I did in about 20 minutes.
MegaMan Legends Scenarios: Trigger's Test
The officer lead the young purifiers down the pristine white hallway. Trigger, is a young boy, age 16 , he is decked out in the Green armor with elysian symbols along with his two partners, Prima and Charge. Prima is an older girl, 17, with strands of green hair hanging in front of her face, and Charge has lightning style yellow hair, and is the youngest by 2 years. He is the shortest, Prima is the tallest. The training officer is an older man, he has a face mask with a dark blue tint guarding most of his face, and he has a different armor style. He talks as they walk down the hallway.
Officer: You've done well Young Purifiers, today is a big day, I hope you've had plenty of rest.
Trigger: Yes Sir
Prima: Couldn't sleep, my conscience wouldn't let me because of what were going to do to the opposing purifiers!
Officer: Thats the spirit!
Charge: You mean we actually are fighting real people!?
Officer: You will put through a field test. You will be in real danger! So be careful. I've taught you every trick in the book to keep you alive for this one test.
Trigger: You mean that we could die?
Officer: I believe that you are well trained enough that it won't be an issue
They finally reach the door at the end of the hall.
Officer: I'll see you again when you are graduated into true MegaMan Units! The first part of the test is solo, but you'll meet up again to fight another team of purifiers.
They walk through the door except for the officer. Its a pristine white waiting room with three doors. 2 minutes has been put above the doors.
Charge: I guess this is good bye...
Prima: Don't be stupid, you heard the officer, we have been trained well!
Trigger: Yeah... he didn't seem to confident in his voice though...
Prima: Hmph!
Prima walks in front of the door and looks away from them
Charge: Come on Prima!
Trigger: We've grown up and trained since we were all toddlers!
Prima turns around
Prima: I'm not mad, I just can't believe this is it...
The doors open
Prima: See you at the other side
Prima walks through and the door shuts behind her.
Charge looks at Trigger
Charge: I don't... think I'm ready for this. Everything has been safe and sound... a real field test.
Trigger puts his hand on Charge's shoulder
Trigger looks up with a gleam on his face
Trigger: It will be fine, lets hurry up so we can see each other again.
Trigger and Charge look at each other for a moment and Charge nods
They both walk through one of the doors...
Trigger looks around and its dark, like in the simulations, he turns on his night vision to give him a better looks around the hallway.
After fighting through a dozen rooms of locks and puzzles and reaverbots, Trigger finds himself one on one with a Hanmuru Doll. Trigger dispatches it easily and goes through the door to see Prima in the room ahead.
Prima: What took ya so long?
They share a hug.
Prima: I figured Charge would be last, but the field test was so...
Trigger: Easy I know...
Prima: I just figured I was really good...
a door opens and Charge enters...
He is shaken up but not injured.
Charge: I... don't think I'm cut out for this...
Prima: We were created for this purpose...
Charge: Thats not what I meant...
Voice over loud speaker: Very good, go through the door on the other side and meet the team of Purifiers you will be training with.
The three walk through the door on the other side.
They see three similar purifiers, though with all their distinct little differences.
Prima: Trigger, Charge, I think it will be better if we face each one individually, so we don't hit each other. I'll take that big guy, Trigger take the middle guy, and Charge, take the girl...
Charge: ...
Trigger: Okay!
Loudspeaker: Now, fight the other team until one team is completely disabled
Trigger fights the medium purifier, and dispatches him after a long fight. The Purifier is left breathing on the ground, bleeding to death.
Trigger looks around to see Prima and Charge both fighting one, and Prima finishes her with a charge shot.
Loudspeaker: One of your opponents are still alive, you must completely disable all your opponents to move on.
Trigger looks down at the injured one next to him
Prima runs over, with Charge.
Prima puts her hand on his shoulder.
Trigger: I can't just kill him...
Trigger points his buster arm at the down purifier.
He starts charging a charge shot, but bails at the last second.
Another charge shots buts a hole through the purifiers stomach and kills him instantly.
Prima talks with a grim look on her face
Prima: If anyone can handle it, its me.
Loudspeaker: Congratulations, move on into the final room to be met by your officer.
They do as their told...
Officer: What happened Trigger? Did you malfunction?
Trigger: What? What are you talking about?
Officer: When you didn't shoot your enemy. You hesitated!
Trigger: Bu...
Prima: Its all over now
Officer: Prima... your friends are afraid of killing, you gathered all three kills.
Prima: That just makes me a murderer.
Officer: No, those were 4th class purifiers!
Prima: 4th class..., but we are 2nd class!
Officer: Remember that test when you were in the second class...
Charge: You said those were holograms!
Trigger: You said we were in no danger!
Officer: I said a lot of things to get you to where you are now... MegaMan Trigger, MegaMan Prima... MegaMan Charge...
Fade out!
Thats basically the idea of how I write, though I've seen plenty of good formats to write the scenarios in. (I've seen the action described in one big paragraph, and dialog described later which works well as well)
