Roll didn't name MegaMan, Barrel did. I know they changed that around in English because his name wasn't Rock in the English games, but in the Japanese games it goes that Barrel names Trigger “Rock” as a pun off of Roll's name. I don't really care to argue about it, but when you think about it it makes no sense that Roll would've named MegaMan considering they're the same age; she wouldn't have been able to speak!! (etc) ..unless Megs went for a while without having a name..  If I recall it correctly I've read this info through Prof. Caskett's diary in Legends 2... But then again, you have a very good point there... even I was surprised when I read that, I mean, how can a baby give a name to another of the same age? I mean, how can a toddler who can't even speak give a name to someone already?... Unless, like what you said, Roll changed Trigger's name when they were older Your theory is more valid I have to say...  |

I know it's in the games, but that's one of those things that had to be translated liberally for the game to make sense.
If Barrel named the child he found "MegaMan" as a pun off Roll's name that wouldn't make any sense, so they come up with this idea.. it's not a bad one, but I don't think it should be considered canon. The Japanese game offers a better explanation.
..And the more canon answer helps to counter your pro-Roll reasoning.

Haaaaah... I haven't voted yet. I've just always been amused at this debate, and I'm even more amused that Jes literally necro'ed this topic (poor Snowman) and nobody really cares because it's JES. I always had a preference for MegaMan x Tron as I enjoyed their interactions as well as Tron acting like a tsundere when it comes to him.

As far as I'm concerned, necroing this Tron vs. Roll thread beats the tar of setting up yet another one. It's objective, it's not like anyone new is trying to converse with the long-gone OP, so I figure it's kosher. Jes has nothing to do with this, but next time I see her I'll be sure and give her a parking ticket if it makes you feel better.
Ultimately I'd say at this point the fairest answer would be "none of the above," since they've made us wait this damn long, the most likely answer is Roll, and the answer I want to see happen the most is "Anybody but Roll." Given that there are really only two options and "Not sure," and I know I don't want to see him with Roll at all, that means my vote still hasn't budged since when this thread started.
