Remember when the manuals that came with video games were awesome, and not a black & white scrap of paper with legal information and controls? Yeaaah, me too. I don't know what even happened! Ever since the previous console generation started taking root, most companies have really skimped on originality for their manuals. Heck, even the quality of the stuff sucks eggs! It's all this squeaky thin plastic-y material now. This thread is dedicated to the good ol' days of colour and elaborate designs. Here, I'll kick things off - Metal Gear Solid style! My blatant fanboyism aside, the manual for MGS1 really was terrific. It had description text for all the weapons and items you find, an overhead map of the first two areas with hints on how to proceed into the base, Codec frequencies, a glossary of key information from all three present games, and even some sweet illustrations of the characters. Some of whom you only get to see a head-shot of in-game. That's only about 1/3 of its contents, but I've gotten my point across. It's a full package and something we direly miss nowadays.

I think I can speak for a few members here on the boards when I say Metal Gear Solid is a big influence. I concur! For me, it's a tie between Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario 64, Silent Hill and Half-Life. It's hard to say which one influenced me the most, seeing as they're all entirely different genres. MGS taught me that patience is (sometimes) a virtue in the face of insurmountable odds. Silent Hill showed that any fear or anxiety can be beaten by not giving into the adversity they present. Half-Life made me fall in love with first-person shooters, and as for Mario 64... nothing needs to be said. The game is legendary. xD All that being said, the PSX-duo really helped my overall language skills at age five. Plus, what kid didn't try to be king of playground by imitating Snake's voice at one stage in their life?

A'ight. Who was the badge-hungry maniac that was coveting the 15-Year MMLS version?

Yeah, my grandmother's dog had to be euthanized after a stroke. The most devastating part is definitely the aftermath. Heck, she wasn't even my dog and I felt absolutely miserable. It's something you wouldn't want any owner to experience.
I wish Dobie a gentle and speedy recovery, Fatman.

Seeing as I'm bored off my rocker tonight, I've prepared the usual venue for some pre-stream discussion, if any of you are interested. IMPORTANT - ALL DRAGON ROMPER BOARDS ARE PRIVATE, AS TO AVOID SPOILERS. CHECK FOR A PRIVATE MML BOARD.
Seeing as Blues reminded me of Island Mode, I've decided to bump the thread again. Anybody in favour of seeing another DR2 stream merely needs to make a post. No spam, though! I'm not harbouring those illicit substances inside MMLS!
Also, have this video of Persona Q's opening with DR characters. Spoilers ahoy for newbies.

I loved the first one, so naturally I was eagerly anticipating the sequel's release. And of course I picked it up day 1! By the way, I have a confession to make: I actually made sure to play and finish the game before Kyle started his stream. I just couldn't wait to play it, and kinda wanted to experience the game for the first time myself (sorry Kyle!)
Don't sweat it! The main reason I was streaming it in the first place was to allow the non-Vita owners to experience it alongside everyone else. That being said, the video quality for certain parts sucked eggs. *Cough* Blurboarding *Cough* ...Besides. I technically owned it several months before its release! To be honest, I'm a bit iffy about streaming Island Mode. There are only really specific "before-and-after" changes, whereas I was hoping for a complete Free Time Event overhaul. But if there's anybody else that wants me to do it, let your opinion be heard. I'm reasonable-ish enough to change my mind.

But now I strictly forbid the use of this iteration of Ono for this story, as such a character has absolutely no place here. I care not if she is your creation, either she gets hit unbelievably hard with the nerf stick, or I have the full force of Densetsu's military obliterate her the second she arrives. Threatening an alleged Mary Sue with death via your alleged god-powers? I can't see that statement backfiring at all. Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and adapt, Bowen. If not, then you're being a lousy GM, I'm afraid.

Not to make you appear indecisive in your decision-making, MuZ, but I gotta' say it. A simple title change to "Zetsabre" could've easily sidestepped the whole crossover thing.

I know we're three chapters past it, but good gravy does Roll's adult look tick me off! I don't even know why, either. Probaby not the response you'd be expecting Dashe, but I know you extract sadistic pleasure from making people have "feelings" toward PSTC.

Perhaps it's time for another face to appear in this thread, no? I've actually been following your work since the beginning, Aiyumi. Dunno why I never posted about it, but hey, better late than never. For starters, your grasp of the English language is pretty spectacular for a non-native speaker. Most people tend to find the written language tougher than that whole oral/aural bonanza. Secondly, your characterization of the MML cast, like Dashe mentioned, is a unique breath of fresh air. I'm well-aware that there isn't too much "personality" to the Elysium dwellers. Regardless, it great to see you're not afraid to deviate from the norm! Can't really comment on the radio drama aspect, since I barely understand Japanese. Blerg! I'm really gushing about all this stuff, aren't I? Okay, okay, I'll shut up now. You've got something special going here, Aiyumi. We're looking forward to your continued work.

(Thanks to Halo 4, the achievement of extinction has been stricken from their résumés.) It's understandable to consider the Elders and Forerunners alike. The MML lore hasn't exactly been enriched by official sources these past few years. Given the fact that humanity was forced to flee Terra, the Elders were either an interfering alien race or a rebellious series of AI. Who knows? Maybe it's a little of both!

Hey-hey, McBelch. Thanks to your introduction thread, Dashe may very well achieve apotheosis! Now if those aren't gonna' earn you some quick brownie points, I don't know what will! But let's dispense with the usual niceties and get down to brass tacks. I absolutely enjoy discussing lore in fictional universes. Heck, I've made several threads about it in regards to the Legends universe. You wanna' have a featured discussion and get up to speed? You've definitely come to the right place. Nothing ends up unexplained here. Not even Tron's crotch-plate. ...Well. Except maybe the existence of Adventure Tour.
