Hi everyone by the way XD, not been on the forums for a while
i just got ePSXe working, and with most games it seems to work fine, but MOTB stops working after the first level just before the cutscene when Glyde blows up Bon Bonne, i tried a few plugins reccomended by the emulator site but nothing seemed to make a difference, i figured if anyone knew how to get it working theyd be on these forums >_<

Because of the way MOTB was programmed (or that's what I'm faulting, anyways) it fails quite a bit in emulators. There're few things you can do to improve it slightly, and none of them are 100% fixes. The only sure-fire way of playing MOTB is to use an original disc w/ an original PSX or PS2 (I wouldn't try on a PS3, as it's mostly software emulation for older titles, which would have the same problems ePSXe does if it wasn't programmed to take into account oddball hacks and programming bugs in select titles, which there are quite a few).

I think I had the same problem before(but on PSP).. something about that first level always freezes up. Over at Rockman Perfect Memories they suggested just simply trying over and over again and eventually it would work, and then being sure to create a save file past that point, but I kind of doubt that's any kind of real solution. I wouldn't trust it; it didn't work for me.

If you're still trying to figure it out, try playing with a different sound plugin. That's what fixed it for me. You'll get garbled voices, but the rest of the game plays just fine. I had a problem in the first level where if I paused, there was a real good chance I wasn't unpausing the game. Why changing sound plugins fixed it I know not, but it's worth a shot if you're desperate.

It won't work, don't try to fix it. It always freezes in that part because of the events that take place in the binary code of the main MOTB file inside the ps disk, just like Valkyrie Profile, MoTB won't run, and if it does, it will be just a matter of time before it freezes again.
Valkyrie profile does not freeze, it crashes any emulator.

Xebra emulator works just fine, I've played a third of the game on it.

yeah I've had athat problem too. It can be solved by just skipping ahead.. but that's not interesting... XD
Get better Sound and graphic plugins and it should work.
I use "Eternal SPU 1.21" for sound and "Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9" for graphics.. it may change depending on your computer.

I find myself performing reasonably well with just Peops 1.18 (available on pete's website), only because my old pc lags spectacularly when I used any other plugins.
Just to be sure that I am still accurate, I will be testing it again later.
UPDATE: It still works with PEOPS 1.18 and Eternal.
Perhaps EPSXE 1.7 just supports MoTB better than pervious versions.

I've played a large portion of the game on an emulator called pSX 1.13, try using that as an alternative to ePSXe if all else fails.

I'm gonna try that. If it succeeds, we can leave the plugin manipulation for people who want extra oomph in the epsxe's output.
I have experienced a game which is compatible on epsxe but gives extremely abnormal glitches on pSX, though.

I wouldn't count on it, Truner. My Sega CD still runs perfectly, and it's older than any PS out there. Don't get me started on my Atari VCS. Thing's a tank.

It's still strange how it's almost 2012 and we're still having problems running that game. We can't use PS1s for much longer. Those junks will die sooner or later... Then use a PS2 or a PS3...

Are we... still talking about emulators here? Because if you're talking about actual systems and the actual game, then PS3s actually can play Playstation 1 games (including MoTB) just fine, as far as I'm well aware. They just can't play Playstation 2 games, if that makes any sense to the world. I know Darkkefka's using his PS3 because PSNetwork messages occasionally show whether someone's gone online/offline throughout the LP.
