*sigh* How should I start this off?
Back in late 2017, I was practicing for a pseudo-speedrun of my treasured copy of Mega Man 64 on Easy Mode. Everything was going well and nothing unusual had happened yet. Barely over 30 minutes into the game, I got to the warehouse where Bruno resided. I went in, stopped Bonnes from consuming more pizza, pissed them off, and took on their giant bipedal mech. During the fight, about halfway through Bruno's health, I hear this strange electrical blipping noise. How strange. That was about the only weird phenomenon that occurred during the fight. After landing one last final shot on the mech's midsection, Bruno splits in half and blows up. A second later, I pushed the Start button to skip the following cutscene and this is the sight that I am greeted to next...
Do I have to go in there with THIS?!
Oookay. It moves like MegaMan's regular arm when he's idle, running or jumping. But not only is the texture of his right arm is different but also so is the arm's physical shape. The model of the arm doesn't seem to match the form of any Special Weapon in the game. The "fist" portion of the arm is smaller and flatter than normal, and the lower arm is even chunkier than usual. Plus, the arm doesn't look completely solid; there are little holes and gaps within the textures, making these little parts of his arm transparent. It's also not a solid shade of green, either; there are bits of darker green and white in the textures.
I fooled around for a little bit longer before snapping this picture using my phone's camera, since there is no way for me to record footage otherwise. After capturing my visual proof, I set on progressing the game and went into the Sub-city entrance. When MegaMan respawned inside, his right arm reverted back to the Special Weapon that I had set for it (the Grand Grenade) and after I left the Sub-city, his arm returned to normal.
I'm not sure if I'm the first to discover this glitch, but I'm curious to know whether or not anybody's experienced any graphical glitches that affect character models in a similar way in MML1. It seems it would be near impossible to replicate this event and may have manifested itself due to my aging cartridge. Maybe some of the more programming-savvy members may have an idea about what's going on here. I don't know...
