Thanks to everyone who put in the effort to make this another successful event!
The previews are now live on the main site. Prompted by Chiz's efforts last year, I have made "early" preview versions that don't show as much, to be replaced on the home page with fuller versions along with the reveal tomorrow. Enjoy.
A Merry Christmas to us all, my dears.

After a couple refreshes, I like what I'm seeing so far. But I feel inclined not to get my hopes up too soon.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Sorry to take so long getting this out, but here they all are! www.legends-station.com/?page=fan/secretsanta2017/gallery(I'm in a rush, so I'll have to do some follow up later, like getting actual videos instead of YT links (thought I had that taken care of yesterday, but this morning has been a string of technical nightmares including things uploaded yesterday that mysteriously vanished from the server today...) and the fuller home page images, etc.)

What a bumper crop this year. My throughts are as follows in order.. 1. Oh my god- I wouldn't wish that kind of prank on my worst enemies... Data better run. XD 2. He won't be angry for long once he get put through it, again. He's gonna be leaving in tears. 3. Barter system? Rock and those servbots are in for a big surprise... 4. Did Tron let herself go, or something...? 6. I hope Roll's had practice cooking with a wok- it can get dangerous and messy.... 7. I feel so guilty about this... I shouldn't laugh, but I can't.... 8. Ba..... bu? I imagine Bon would be that old, by now, at least.. 9. I keep hearing a brief bit of Ecstacy of Gold here... a terminator reaverbot would be a terrifying thing. XD 10. Snakes...... why did it have to be snakes? XD 11. Volnutt took the words out of my mouth on this one. 12. Sounds about right- the fans 20 years later would be as old. I know I've grown a mustache since then, at least. 13. Not the best singing in the world, but the vibes of this song put this on par with "Evermore" from the live-action Beauty and the Beast film.. Bravo. 14. HF, if Capcom ever decides to make a Legends collection, we must demand this to be the reversible cover for it. 15. Beautiful, fAB. SImple and beautiful. 16. I said it once and I'll say it again- This is what we're fighting for... Well done. 17. I can't help but tear up as I hear Rock calling out "Hey, everybody!" ... so much feels.... 18. I'd find it a bit sad, but then one of my other favorite PSX games of the day had a dead knight come back to life. Can't help but see Volnutt returning here in a similar fashion to Sir Daniel Fortesque. 19. Ouch. Well, only thing left to do- head over to Capcom's HQ and give them some persuasion. After all, where there's a whip, there's a way! XD A surprising crop this year, some really moved me, and that's not easy to do. Bravo to everyone who participated.

Merry Christmas MMLS! Ah, yes, Christmas. The one day of the year where I compliment your art unconditionally! It's the gift that keeps on giving. What's funny is that back in the planning session for the bonus, the one protest against a 20th anniversary premium was a concern that we would get about ten pictures of cakes. Lo and behold, no cakes were drawn! Funny how life works out that way! Santa Melty, thank you so much! I was hoping whoever got mine would do something really out of left field, and making Dad Bonne the secret pilot of Bon Bonne's mech suit certainly delivered! The Bonne parents really don't get enough love. Your bonus piece also made me actually laugh out loud. I bet there are a lot of people who'll come to see this! UltraViolet64 - Data's trolling, full stop. I really like the expressions here, and the bright colors. There's a reason Forbidden Island's called that...those Pohs are relentless! This one seems kind of chill, though, despite everything. Didn't even give chase. Gotta give it props for picking its battles. fAB - Gotta love a good torture room scene! It's nice to see the Iron Maiden getting some focus. Usually it blends into the background. If you ever take up cross-stitching, this would certainly make for a lively conversation piece if it were embroidered lovingly on a throw pillow. Secret Santa's all about pushing your artistic boundaries after all! Congrats on finishing the bonus piece, too. Good to see the gang's all here and Gramps isn't dead yet! Dashe - Needs more talent. Er...red. MegaTuga - I have absolutely no idea what this game would be about, but I'd play it. Admittedly, I'm a little desperate for new content, but since it's Tron, I'm sure it'd be good! I'm really impressed that you sang a video. Trust me, coming up with fitting rhymes is hard, and you did it with English as your second language! Maybe third. I don't actually know how many languages you speak. Definitely worth the risk you thought you were taking! ravenf6 - "Why do I have to be in love with the guy who keeps destroying my handiwork?!" The heart wants what the heart wants, Tron. I think this is the first time I've looked at a piece of yours and not known it was yours right away, which is awesome. Your style's really grown over the years. You did a great job coloring it, too. I'd like to see you keep working digitally. Did you get a tablet for this, or did you hack away at it with a mouse? Tablets are a lot easier to get your hands on now. HF - Roll cooking...I guess this explains why the apricot pie never happened...she almost destroyed the kitchen! You've probably got a translation for the text lying around, right? It's right to left, right? It makes the most sense going that way, at least. I also wish Capcom would take a hint from your game box and make a 20th anniversary copy of Mega Man Legends. I think between all of MMLS, we're going to amass enough prototype game box designs to fill up a Gamestop. I'd rather play this than my Mega Man Legends 5... Blyka - Does the game have win conditions, or do you just shoot him in the air until you miss and the ADD kicks in? My highest score's 11. My attention span's not too great. I'd love to see this further polished up and published for real on Sky Pirate Arcade with a public scoreboard. The anniversary piece is also pretty slick, complimentary colors give it a nice pop. Dragge - I was wondering when someone would do some stop-motion of the 4-inch Nels figure! I'm glad you popped in and got the ball rolling on it. The editing on the eyes was pretty awesome, too. Space Apollo - Hah, of course he gets shot down by snakes! Back in the game it said that the husband was actually the spotter, not the digger, which leads me to believe he must have lost a bet or something to get down there at all. It's cool to see that his armor's mostly strapped onto normal clothes, too. They're not first-class purifiers. Your bonus piece gives me the warm fuzzies, which is really all anyone could ask for on Christmas. ShadyRounds - Congrats on getting two pieces in when everything in life pretty much conspired against it. I wish I'd had the time to actually give you the voiceover like you wanted. Hit me up if you do something like it again! I feel like I'll probably be dead by the time Legends gets revived too. I'm surprised that my hair's not turning gray yet. All my time in Legends Station, I've repeatedly mentioned the race between gray hair and Legends 3. Now you've got me wondering if death or Legends 3 will end up happening first! Probably Legends 3, but this IS Capcom we're talking about. Happy Holidays, MMLS!

Dashe didn't mean to get THAT dark lol. I'll voice you in anything I actually get together, May25th is the next consideration of mine if I can actually assemble it (and I really do strongly feel toward my own artistic outlet so I'm hella excited to create some epic shtuff soon). I really liked all the art, and that we did have a diversity of artistic medium, such as video and flashgame. I'm no good at art to compete on pen and paper myself.

I have a terrible memory when it comes to NPCs, especially since I didn't give that much of a darn about NPCs who exist only to sell me stuff. I should've really checked, at least. My apologies to Blyka. Anyway, everyone did a lovely job on their prompts. I especially appreciate ShadyRounds's entry, especially with everything that was going on. I can't imagine doing machinima like that. (Machinima is right word, right?) The voices are pretty nice, especially given the one-man job.

Good turnout considering how slow things started out. Pat on the back to everyone who successfully completed a submission. Especially to you Shady, since I know you had to deal with some pretty difficult circumstances. And of course, a thank you to Fab for managing the event. Won't comment on everything right now, but here's a few select thoughts. UltraViolet64 : This was one of the ones that really caught my eye in the previews. I like the style; cute and very expressive. And nice use of what was probably one of the creepier enemies in the game. HF : Thanks for the piece, it's really lovely. Your submissions are consistently among the most polished, and this year was no exception. As I mentioned to you already, I like that the joke works well even without the dialog. Your bonus piece demonstrates some solid graphic design chops, and I like how littered it is with shoutouts. Blyka : Solid work, especially for just a few days. Simple but amusing game that just feels nice to interact with. Got as high as 60+ without concern for accuracy, probably only around 15 with 100% accuracy. Minor issue I had: clicking and dragging occasionally seemed to cause the game to lose focus, and I need to click again before being able to fire. Might be the browser. As for your bonus piece, it appears to be a vector image? Pretty neat. ShadyRounds : I'm not sure what I was expecting of the video, but I quite liked the joke. And I've definitely heard worse voice work. Space Apollo : Your bonus piece caught my eye because of the texturing and the white highlights. It looks almost traditional at first glance. I like the effect. My favorite part of your main piece is your imagining of what the store owner looked like as a younger man. It's an interesting sort of design exercise. As for my own piece: I was mostly just experimenting with brushes in Photoshop. The image kind of just came together organically. I was laying down strokes and sort of liked what I saw, so I ran with it. For the record, yes, the character is meant to be Father Bonne. Merry Christmas all (or whatever you happen to celebrate).

Dashe : To answer that, I must tell you a brief story. In august, I acquired a new laptop. Among its features was a touchscreen display that functions like a tablet. But to make the most of it, I spent some time looking for a stylus. The original draft was made in old-fashioned pencil and paper, and for something different, I decided to on a major test drive for said stylus- it took a while to get used to a few things, but wild swings soon became somewhat refined strokes and lunges.

Happy Holidays to all! Solid turnout this year, so as always thanks to everyone who made it happen. Now, better late than never as they say, so let's see about some quick comments for everyone... UltraViolet64 Wonderfully imaginative answer to a prompt I'm not sure I would've known what to do with, executed with fun style and coloring. Nice job. Dashe I don't know my paints, but your main prompt looks to be hand-painted... and quite impressive at that! Always nice to see obscure characters get more love, too. And your anniversary piece does terribly well at capturing the aging process, for better or worse. MegaTuga Tron's legs look a bit ouch, but cheesy box art is always fun. ravenf6 Nice and colorful, and good job creating two contrasting but fun scenes. HF Nice polish all around. Given the main prompt I personally find the joke a bit ambiguous without translation, but safe to say Roll screwed up somehow. Trigger's attire/accessories are a fun touch as well. Santa Melty I didn't even realize the character was Father Bonne (which is a wonderful reference), but I found the pic equally amusing in simply portraying Bon as a strange adult. Anniversary pic made me laugh, too. Good stuff. Dragge I find the environment a bit strange in the context, but nice one going for stop-motion animation. Complete with special effects, even. Space Apollo Oh, my bad about that! Honestly, I am probably the worst person to have gotten that prompt. I have a terrible memory when it comes to NPCs, especially since I didn't give that much of a darn about NPCs who exist only to sell me stuff. I should've really checked, at least. My apologies to Blyka. Thanks for the piece, and hah, that's quite all right. I thought that prompt would be fun for those familiar with the characters, but I guess I didn't think it through for those who aren't. Dashe's theory on him losing a bet works nicely, though. ShadyRounds I'm not sure what I would've done with a "giant candy refractor", but tying it into the Main Gate's... looks like it works surprisingly well, actually. Good job on the voices, too, especially Juno's. -- As for my stuff: ravenf6 Glad you found the game amusing, and glad you felt the feels. Dashe Thanks! No win conditions on the game; it's just a fun little time-waster to finally have a game for SS, so I'm probably just going to leave it as it is (fAB already threw it on the Arcade, in fact--not every game needs online scoring to be amusing, I figured, e.g. Punt or Pet). Initially I was of course tossing around ideas of elaborate score systems, possible "Game Over" conditions when Trigger hits the ground a number of times, variable cutscenes after the fact, and so on, but I scaled it down quite a bit given the timeframe... and honestly, with my tendency to take simple ideas too far it's kind of nice to keep something simple for a change. Santa Melty Thank you kindly! Hm, I hadn't noticed the click-drag issue, but then I didn't have much time to test the web build before submission (and only in Firefox). And yeah, in fact both of my pieces are vector (hence the 8k anniversary for giggles). I learned what I could of Inkscape for the game graphics, so when I finished the game with such little time remaining it seemed like a good route to continue while letting me play around a bit more with the medium.
