I have seen cynical people say it is because they want peoples money before MN9 comes out and is terrible or something. Possibly salty Capcom defenders, if you can imagine that. I can definitely appreciate why a lot of people would be salty about this. This will be the third Megaman spiritual successor Comcept/Inafune is working on in about as many years (Mighty No. 9 from 2013-2015, Azure Strike Gunvolt in 2014, and RED ASH from 2015-2017); the fact that MNo9 is not out before they're lining up for money again; the number of controversies that MNo9 has suffered along the way (community management, value for donations, quality of current product, new IPs have been cancelled in favour of milking this)...I cannot see RED ASH getting nearly as much money as Mighty No. 9, and being a 3D action adventure game, it desperately needs a large budget more than an arcade run-and-gun platformer. Don't get me wrong, I totally want to see what Inafune can do with this, but I'm a little worried that he and his company will become trapped in a vicious cycle of exploiting his name recognition to ask the greater public for large amounts of money for increasingly "safe" (read: Ersatz) game ideas instead of doing what he left Capcom to do - make art. I bet he could head projects for a quarter the budget and without the rockstar development team, and we'd all enjoy those games, too.

Oh, I'm sure that was entirely intentional.
The Kickstarter is not ramping up as fast as I'd like, but I gotta wait till next payday to put my money where my mouth is. That being said, it'd be nice if Comcept would secure funding from non-crowd based sources for some stuff. That being said, I would say that this looks like the type of game I'd be interested in, even if it wasn't blatantly obviously the successor to Legends. I didn't even notice the "Red Ash - ReDASH" thing until today. HA.
Also, I figured Gunvolt was the "X" successor...?

I've been calling it RE:DASH the whole time.
Comcept has stated already that they may be looking for producers to fund portions of their project, due to the actual costs of development, but that the kickstarter is true to its name: something to get the game started.

Well, it's not as explosive as I would have hoped, but it does not seem to be doing excessively poor either. This won't get the traction that Mighty no 9 got, most unfortunate because I like this concept much more than MN9; I never was much of a Megaman even though I backed MN9.
From what I gather there were some pretty significant community problems on the MN9 forums and as Chiz noted other problems along the way that has left people disenfranchised with Comcept. I also see many people unhappy about no console release and with the way the project is going now I don't see us hitting stretch goals to get us to a console release. I must say that while I am excited about Red Ash, compared to Mighty No 9 kickstarter video the pitch for Red ash is lackluster, and we really haven't gotten much in the way of updated to get excited over. It is also difficult to get behind a game that even if it gets full funding will be a "half game" compared to the way that the team originally envisioned.
I really hope that this game happens and we at least hit the first stretch goal. I haven't been this excited about a game release in years (the team Inafune gathered looks amazing), I'd sure hate it if this turned into a mml3 episode 2.

This made me think of Megaman Legends positively again. To be honest, I loved that game so much that the cancellation ripped my heart out and it's been hard even talking about the game.(What happened to Megaman Legends Universe being a big part of that.) But Mighty No.9's creation made me hopeful Inafune would go for broke and he is. I am very excited for this. I'm not too terribly familiar with Kickstarter projects; how is it's progress looking, relative to averagely-backed games? Also, in a typical case such as this, how instrumental is Kickstarter to a project? I mean, will this tank if not enough people chip in? Sorry, I'm kinda worried this'll be another MML3 and need some clarification. I registered here just to get in on this.

Well, the current goal is $800,000US, and they have over $300,000US already pledged on the fourth day. It is nearly half funded. I can't say I've followed a LOT of kickstarters, but one of the ones I was interested in took nearly 2 weeks to get that much so... while its only one point of reference, it IS a point of reference.

I'm trying to be as upbeat as possible. Though, I'm sad I can't really back it right this moment. Life has a habit of getting in the way. >__> Otherwise I'd chip in, especially for the physical copy. I can't stand digital distribution-only. It's too immaterial for me.

Apparently there will be console release news soon! It's here! ... Sort of. Just a few hours ago, Comcept have updated and added a stretch goal for one console port (yes, only one for the moment...). The console is still undecided, though.

I wouldn't say that the funding had gone badly, but it certainly is not the runaway success that Mighty No 9 was; though to be fair when it was finished it was the 6th best funded kickstarter in history. Much of the "this kickstater has gone poorly" attitude is probably negatively comparing this kickstarter with Mighty No. 9's. This is an interesting website tracking kickstarter funding rates: www.kicktraq.com/projects/mightyno9/red-ash-the-indelible-legend/#chart-dailyCompared to Mighty No 9: www.kicktraq.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9/#chart-dailySo in 2 days Mighty No. 9 over doubled what this project has done. But it's really not that bad compared to some other games I have followed (admittedly not that many) it's taken a bit longer to reach the halfway mark. e.g: www.kicktraq.com/projects/impellerstudios/starfighter-inc/On a positive note there has seemed to be a fair bump since the console stretch goal has been announced. Unfortunately, though, many of the game's unique featured and breadth of the game that we love in the Legends series seems to be buried in stretch goals that we are not likely to achieve at this rate of funding. But, positive thought; anything can happen. Maybe you could get Loken to pledge for you then : mmls.proboards.com/thread/5894/manhua-caption-contest

I was completely oblivious to that huge spike in pledges for Mighty No. 9 at the end because I stopped following it about halfway through. Those numbers are insane. o.o Thanks for sharing, tominator!

Looks like the funding for both MNo9 and Starfighter roughly follow a cubic function. From the little information we have now, I'd say $912,000 is an optimistic outcome for the game's fundraiser.
EDIT: I've come up with f(x) = (n/9500)x^3 - (n/180)x^2 + (n/10)x, where x is the day and n is the final amount of money the project got (roughly). According to this, RED ASH ought to get $835,500 given its current day 5 standings.

I don't think this Kickstarter has been handled all that well so far. It doesn't really tug at the strings the way that Mighty No. 9 did where it basically made Inafune out to feel regret for not being able to make MML3 for fans. This one seems slapped together, and it's sadly getting a decent amount of backlash for trying to do two campaigns at once prior to Mighty No. 9 even being released.
It should get funded, but at the same time, putting it on just one console and not even announcing which isn't the smartest idea to garner support. I think they needed a better plan with this game coming in is all I'm saying because it doesn't have that same oomph to it that the MN9 one did. The Legends fans are happy, I'm sure, but some of them might just want Legends 3 instead of a new start, and the Mega Man classic fans are still waiting on their game to come out in two months.
Hope it passes, but it could've done better if MN9 turns out to be good because there would be a presence of good faith then.

I also one of the people who like to see Mega Man Legends 3 be made one day but for now I'am looking forward for to this game.
Oh another thing if they do work a English Dub for this game they need to have Rob Smith to voice Tyger for this game. I don't if Keiji Inafune has to break him out jail for all I care I really want him to voice that character!

Personally I keep hearing Richard Epcar. But maybe that's because of the Batou thing.
