First off, I'm not trolling. This is a legitimate idea, based on factual evidence and statistics, with some probability thrown in for good measure.
Here's the gist of it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyXcr6sDRtw&list=FLRy3TO589HX4RawOnEvttNA&index=27
About 5 minutes in comes the important part. I highly recommend their channel, incredible stuff for any gamer. The video is the third part of a trilogy, but while insightful and overall worth checking out, only the part of the video I put above is where my plan is based.
So, I'm assuming you've watched the video at this point, I'm too lazy to sum it up properly.
Watched it? Good. I'm sure you already see where this is going. The plan is simple, we get MML 1 played by someone big on youtube. Sounds crazy? Perhaps. But something worth noting is the 100K stromg to bring back MML3. If we could talk the facebook page into getting people to politely request on Pewdiepie's and other gamers' Youtubes, well, 100,000 voices is hard to ignore (Unless You're Capcom...). Suppose the 100K repeatedly requests the top 50 youtube gamers play the first Legends game, if even one moderately popular Youtube gamer plays the game, some of their competitors will play the game to compete for views, and then one of the major players will play it to get the views from their significantly larger fanbase. Then, another large youtuber plays it, then another. Perhaps eventually even Pewdiepie, and then 30 million people see it.
The critical part is this: people watch the youtubers play the game for 20-30 minutes and comment on how good or terrible they think it is. People will want to see for themselves just how great/terrible it is. Some will like it, some will hate it. This is where it's a HUGE gamble though... If MML starts spreading by word of mouth, will the overall consensus be that the game is good, or that it's bad? I genuinely think that this strategy could get us this far, but the one variable that the fanbase has no control over is if people who are exposed to the game in this manner would actually WANT to play it? And then, even if the answer is yes, would it be enough to push Capcom into MML3?
Discuss, please. I'm curious to hear peoples' thoughts. Am I crazy for thinking this is possible, or do you agree? Would the general gaming populace actually LIKE Legends 1? Would media reporting on the newest viral craze of MML even be enough to get Capcom back on the MML3 train?
