In a world covered by endless water...
A group of people known as Diggers scour ancient ruins for energy sources known as refractors. However, not everyone is content with digging, some have chosen a slightly more... privateering lifestyle. One such group, consisting of three siblings and an army of tiny yellow henchmen, is the Bonne Family.
The Bonnes lost a good deal of credibility in the criminal world after their repeated defeat at the hands of a young boy dressed in blue on Kattelox Island. Losing more than just their dignity, the destruction of their mechas has resulted in a loss of over a billion zenny over the course of three hours.
Ever the oportunist, Teisel still managed to make it out with quite a catch, an enormous refractor large enough to power a massive cargo transport ship, or perhaps something larger!
Remarkably, using only a ship thrown together from their various destroyed Mechas, The Bonnes were able to sail for a week without sinking, and the refractor still in their possession. They finally arrived at their destination, Sri Densu, the floating black market, where they were able to sell it.
With the proceeds from the sale they were able to repair the Gesselshaft... mostly. They didn't make quite as much as it was worth, but desperation is a powerful thing, and long story short, they now have the Gesselshaft Mark 2, and it's, well, smaller. It's still a remarkable ship, many times the size of the flutter, but there's not enough room for a significant launch bay, and all that fits is the revamped Fokkerwolf. Unfortunately, money is really tight, and it is still without a power source.
While negotiating the price, Teisel overheard something about everyone heading to do some digging at some new island. Thinking to take advantage of the timing, he had repairs done at double pace, and was flying again a week and a half later.
The plan: wait for all the diggers to bring all the good stuff to the surface, then rob them blind. The problem: Everybody that entered the ruins, didn't come back up. Same with most of the people who set up the initial base camp. Apparently, there were reavers unlike anything people had seen before, faster, stronger, and more brutal.
Unwilling to waste the time investment, Teisel decided that a proper dig was in order.
And so our story begins...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"For the last time NO! YOU'RE NOT GOING ON A DIG WITH ME! It's too dangerous!" Teisel was in a mood again, ever since he had decided that actually exploring some ruins would be faster than waiting for someone strong enough to come along and do it for them, Tron had been begging to go on the dig with him.
Tron wouldn't have any of it, "Come ON Teisel! You let me take the lead on the Kattelox raid!"
"That's different. First of all, they didn't have any defenses to speak of, and secondly, you Failed the Kattelox raid!"
"That's not fair, Megaman was there, and we both know he's no ordinary digger! And it was PLENTY dangerous, I could have DIED, and you were OK with that." Tron was trying to turn the table, her inflection was snooty rather than harsh.
"THAT'S NOT TRUE! I WAS 20 SECONDS AWAY!"
"And in a ruin, you'll be two seconds away." Tron's voice was dripping with honey, she knew that this was a fine line to walk, she could usually get her way with her brother, but when he was adamant about something it was often 50/50. "Come on big brother, you'll be there with me! It'll be a great learning experience, and I'll get to see you in action, destroying the big bad reaverbots left and right."
Teisel sighed. He had yet to win an argument with his sister. And he also knew that Tron would likely sneak out after him and wait until they were already in the ruin to surprise him and force him to let her tag along. "Fine, you can come with me." Tron started to squeal her thanks, but he cut her off. "On one condition. You don't leave my sight."
"Done!" Tron was excited, she sighed internally, now she wouldn't have to sneak out and follow him to the ruin to force him to let her come! "Also, I added multi channel communicators to our armor, so we can keep in contact with each other and the Gesselshaft 2."
Teisel sighed again. "I wish you'd stop calling it that! It's not a new ship, it's just been repaired!"
"But... we turned the original into a boat..."
"THIS IS THE ORIGINAL!"
Now it was Tron's turn to sigh. Teisel could be so stubborn sometimes. She may have been able to convince him to let her come to the ruin, but there was no persuading him that his beloved Gesselshaft had died. "OK, OK. It's the same ship. Now let's head to the armory."
"Oh goody! I've got something new I've been DYING to try out!" Teisel let out his signature laugh, and led the way to the armory.

Out of all the original Gesellschaft's rooms to include in the new improved one's floor plans, the Armoury was a must-have for Teisel. Without the budget for new mechas, personal armaments were the next best thing, and there needed to be a place to hold all the ones that he has recently purchased. Teisel always knew there would be a need for this room and its contents, and words could not describe his excitement at the thought of putting them to use right away.
"Now, it wasn't easy, getting a deal on these weapons," Teisel lectures Tron as he begins to unlock the door, "but believe me when I say that these were much worth the money. I made sure that I was bartering with only the best of the best salesclerks Sri Densu has to offer, so we're really getting away with some quality goods here! Just look at these beauties!"
With that statement, he swings open the double-doors to proudly show off his new collection. Numerous arm-mounted weapons hung on the walls, many of them appearing to bear devastating amounts of firepower. Teisel let out another of his signature laughs as he runs into the room like a child at a toy store, and pulls two weapons off the shelves. It would seem he's taken a liking to the shotgun-like Scatter Buster and the Breaker Bazooka's multi-break explosive shells. Realising how immature he is behaving, Teisel quickly regains his composure and faces his sister once more. "So, Tron. Take a look around, pick something you might like here. After all, don't you think I would expect you to tag along without some proper defense."

Tron slowly approached the shelves and took one of the weapons. She turned it around and examined it, then placed it back on the shelf. She repeated the process with three others and sighed. She had no idea what her brother had purchased. Those weapons were different than the ones they used previously, and she had to admit that she couldn't tell what was what just by looking at them. Asking would sound stupid and didn't sit well with her pride. Teisel could make fun of her ignorance. But again, he was so enthusiastic about those weapons that maybe he would be happy to explain them to her. She noticed that Teisel was getting impatient, so she decided to ask and get it over with. Tron took a Scatter Buster from the shelf, identical to the one her brother had picked. She swallowed her pride and began speaking. "Hey, Teisel... This is a Buster weapon, isn't it? It's the first time I see one like this. How is it different than the normal Busters?"

"Well, I'm glad you asked, Tron." Teisel admitted as he props the bazooka on the wall. "You see, this particular model was built in a way that each shot splits into multiple pellets inside the barrel and spread when they leave the specially shaped nozzle." It felt rather odd to him, being the one to explain a weapon this time around. But there are going to be times when we just simply don't know about something.
As an older brother, Teisel thought it would help if he gave a bit of insight about their new arsenal. "From what I've read, these weapons were all developed on an Island known for their mechanical expertise. Seems they have quite the history with weapons development. But that's a story for another day. Besides, I'm sure that their skills pale in comparison to yours."

Tron smiled proudly. Teisel's compliment made her feel all full of herself. The awkwardness of the situation was gone, and she got interested to know how those weapons were made. She decided that when she got some free time, she would take a few of them apart and inspect them more closely, and of course, give them the Bonne touch.
Tron focused back on choosing her equipment. A drill on one of the shelves caught her attention. On closer inspection, Tron noticed that it was not only a drill, but it could also shoot timed explosives. She had considered taking the drill they had salvaged from the Servbot Borer, but the lack of explosives made it less versatile. The weapon in front of her certainly seemed more interesting. "Alright. I'll pick this one!" She finally decided and held the weapon proudly. "Since we're going to an unexplored ruin, it's bound to have breakable walls guarding valuable treasure! It's probably a good idea to bring some kind of drill to blow those walls up. And if something else gets in our way, these explosives should take care of it!" She flashed a smug grin, eager to try those explosives out. She began walking towards the place where the armors were kept. "Now that we have our Buster and special weapons, the only thing left to do is to equip our new ar-" She suddenly stopped in the middle of the room. As soon as she thought about her new armor, her good mood was instantly gone. Her eyes and mouth opened wide in horror as she recalled the moment when she got her armor.
X:X:X:X:X
It had happened while they were still building the new Gesellschaft.
Three Servbots came dragging a big box.
"Miss Tron! We have a present for you!" #40 happily announced.
"Look!" Servbot #2 pointed at the box. "We ran into a digging equipment supplier transporting products to the junk store, and we managed to steal this Kevlar armor!"
Tron's eyes sparkled. The Kevlar Armor was a very efficient and a fairly expensive piece of equipment.
"Their truck crashed and dropped many many products! We stole the armor during the chaos without anyone noticing us!" #40 said proudly.
"You did a great job!" Tron smiled kindly at them.
"Yay!" #40 jumped in joy.
"She praised us!" #2 did the same.
"Um, but... The... Color..." #30 shuffled nervously.
"Open the box, Miss Tron!" #40 urged.
She did. Inside was a Kevlar armor indeed. However, it was bright pink with a picture of a cute bear on the chest! "W-what... What is this?!" Tron shouted in anger while pointing at the childish picture.
"A little bear, Miss Tron," #40 said innocently. "Isn't it cute?"
"... That's... Not what I meant!" Tron glared angrily at the Servbots. The armor was ridiculous. The color stood out too much and the picture was too childish. She would look stupid wearing that! "This is..." Tron clenched her fists and her face flushed in embarrassment.
"Miss Tron... Didn't you like it?" #40 looked at her sadly. He seemed on the verge of crying.
Tron completely lost her words when she looked back at #40. In the end, she sighed. A Kevlar Armor was a Kevlar Armor. It was an expensive equipment and could do a good job of protecting a person's life. Or at least, that was the excuse she used trying to convince herself.
"Um, Miss Tron?" #30 risked speaking. "Maybe you could ask #35 to recolor it for you..."
"Hmm, good idea." She agreed after some thought.
#30 fidgeted. "But... We have a problem. I heard him saying he had run out of ink, so we'll need to get more first... We're sorry but you'll have to, uh... Make do with it for a while..."
Tron sighed resignedly. Life wasn't always fair.
X:X:X:X:X
Things had been so hectic while they rebuilt the Gesellschaft that they didn't have time to buy ink for #35. And it greatly bothered Tron that they couldn't find a better armor even in the Sri Densu market, meaning that that ridiculous thing was the best armor she had. Her face paled at the realization that the time to wear it had come. She didn't know what to do and just stood in the middle of the room staring at nowhere in particular, with both her eyes and mouth wide open.

"Uh, Tron?" Teisel said as he approached his sister. He wasn't quite sure what was up, but Tron seemed unresponsive to her name being called. Or Teisel waving his hand in front of her face. "Come on now, Tron," Teisel begged in a complaining tone, "tell me what the problem is. I'm not a mind reader and I can't help if I don't know what's wrong."

"Ah!" Tron suddenly jumped. "I'm f-fine!" She sputtered. She took a few deep breaths and tried to focus. She had to look strong or Teisel could change his mind about taking her along. She sighed and tried to explain. "You see... Remember when I told you that the Servbots managed to steal a Kevlar Armor for me? The problem is that it's a bit... Uh, weird." She hadn't shown him her new armor yet. She had even gone through the effort to install communication equipment into it, in hopes that #35 would be able to "fix" it in time for her first "mecha-less" mission, but that didn't happen. There was no escape now. Tron motioned for him to follow her. "It's here. I was hoping #35 would be able to recolor it for me, but he ran out of ink and can't do it at the moment." Tron explained as she dragged the box that was safely hidden behind other equipment. "I couldn't find anything better in the Sri Densu market either, so I guess I'll have to... Make do with it for now..." After taking another deep breath, she hesitantly opened the box for Teisel to see and closed her eyes in embarrassment while she waited for his reaction.

"Hmm, that does look rather embarrassing," Teisel affirmed as he rubbed his chin in thought. "But yes, it'll have to do for this dig. I'm not wanting you to get hurt if we run into any Reaverbots in the ruins. Speaking of, I think it's about time we've started heading out. We don't want to waste a second letting anyone else get away with any treasures that we can." As he equipped his Scatter Buster, Teisel paused to turn his head towards Tron once more. "Oh, but about that bear... I think we might have a sticker we could cover that up with laying around somewhere. After all, that Kevlar Jacket is Bonne property now." Teisel chuckled, then picked up his Breaker Bazooka and left to board the Scrap Boat.

"Wait, Teisel." She ran after him. "I was thinking we could bring a Servbot along to help us explore. Servbots can fit in small places and get items that are hard to reach. And they're adorable, perfect for interacting with people and squeezing information out of them if need be! What do you think?"

"Well, of course you can bring one." Teisel assured. "But only one. There's still work to do on the Gesellschaft, and we'll need as many hands on it as we can. But once we're done with this job, we'll be back to full strength before you know it. We'll show those who dared to laugh at us yet!"

"Alright! I'll get my equipment and get the Servbot. I'll meet you in a minute!" Tron threw her new weapons into the armor box and dragged it to her bedroom. "Grrr. Who are these stupid Diggers that like these pictures on their armors, anyway!?" Tron complained while she begrudgingly put the armor on. She focused away from the bear and considered which Servbot to take. She seriously needed to do something about #40. As one of the younger Servbots, he was still very inexperienced. But unless they took him on more missions, he would never improve and would keep causing incidents like the one about her armor. She knew that his inexperience would make him cause a few problems at first, but they needed to give him more chances to improve so he could become able to help them better in the future. It was for the best.
#40 was very happy to see that Tron was wearing the armor he had gotten for her, and even happier to be chosen to go with them.
"#1, look after everyone while we're away, alright?"
"Yes, Miss Tron. You can count on me!" Servbot #1 answered dutifully.
"Good. Come on, #40. Teisel's waiting for us."
"I'm coming, Miss Tron!" #40 said happily and followed her with a bounce in his step.
With everything ready, they met with Teisel and boarded their boat. Only when their destination was already in sight, Tron realized that she hadn't had time to find a sticker to cover the bear picture with. "Ah well..."

"Now remember, Tron," Teisel began to lecture in a stern tone, "Ruins are a dangerous place as is, but from what I've heard, these Reaverbots are like nothing anyone else has seen before. Which is why I ask that you stay next to me the entire time, and keep an eye out for anything that can be a threat." He continued to speak as their boat entered the Ruin, his voice slightly echoing off the hallow room's walls. "And if we run into anyone else, we can't trust them with any of our treasure, so you should know what to do."

"Of course." Tron nodded reassuringly at Teisel, then turned to the Servbot. "You heard that, didn't you, #40? You must stay close to us at all times. And don't do anything unless we tell you to. Understand?"
"Yes, Miss Tron!" #40 answered cheerfully and his voice echoed off the walls.
"Shhh!" Tron hushed. "Don't speak too loud. It could attract the enemies' attention."
"Yes, Miss Tron..." He lowered his voice this time.
"Good." Tron nodded approvingly. "Now, let's get this dig started, shall we?"

From the outside, the ruin wasn't very impressive. A concave dome with rough, cracked walls and an ancient door were all that could be made out from the surface, but Teisel knew that looks were often deceiving with ruins. Some of the more intricate ruins had started as nothing more than a ladder to the surface with miles of tunnels below.
Upon entering the ruin, the first thing that stood out was the column in the middle of the room. on it there appears to be a carving of a massive snake, wrapping around the column multiple times. The snake's head appears to be carved from a single massive refractor, with two smaller ones set as its eyes. The entire column is encased in a pulsating barrier.
There isn't a control panel in the room, which seems a bit odd. The room is about fifty feet across and circular with no major features except the column, which takes up about ten feet. There are no reaverbot signals and no elevators, but there are three doors, one opposite the entrance, one to the left, and one to the right. (For simplicity, the door opposite the entrance will be referred to as north, the left as west, and right as east.) Perhaps there is a control panel through one of them...

As Teisel examined the room, his attention jumped quickly between the column and the doors. "It's clear that the key to this puzzle is somewhere past these doors. The only problem here is knowing which one it is." He taps his chin in thought, waiting to see if there are signs of which door is locked, if any of them are. Opening them to test that himself could result in an ambush on the other side. After a moment, he turns his head towards Tron and #40, asking if they have any ideas.
