So, as some of you may or may not know, Proboards has a lovely feature for whenever their services happen to fail. This feature redirects you to an always-active page with a proboards-style male avatar looking at the viewer wearing a worried look on his face, with a blue bear clawing at a vending machine in the background. This blue bear is known as the "Err bear", to indicate an error with Proboard's services. The avatar requests that you try "reloading the page in a few moments" when they can get the Err bear under "control". Odd things can/may follow due to Proboards' service hiccup. Whenever it happens to appear to me again, I'll take a cap of him for more clarity. Or if anyone can produce an old one that might end up being buried in RTAN, that'd be neat too. It so happens that a few minutes before this particular post, The Err-bear was wreaking havoc for a full 2-3 minutes on all boards, and the result seemed to be a reset of the active users list. To me, that seems too simple. There could be more. Tread carefully, and hope that you don't run into the bear... E: Seems I was right. prntscr.com/38j6zbNot often that a "Hot" topic has 0 views.

But...but bears are the most amazing things in the history of ever! Why would they do such a thing to the forums!? Gee, I don't know...say, since you seem to be a bear expert, perhaps the next time you see a bear, you could further investigate the situation? You probably won't even need protective gear or anything of the sort. Bears are amazing creatures like that. If I see it again I'll cap the crap out of it. It won't be long now. I think this was a cloudflare issue. I don't know the specifics. In the middle of the day I saw a weird message that told me to wait while the page loaded, which was unusual, and it logged me out. The exact words were "Just a moment..." Never saw one like that before.

As of posting, you can visit the Err Bear at any time by trying to use Secure-HTTP to browse any Proboards forum; Proboards has either not gotten to supporting it yet, or has seen fit to explicitly not support it. mmls.proboards.com/

...a blue bear clawing at a vending machine in the background. Not sure if my glasses are playing tricks on me, but I do believe that device in the background is a Server.

The bear doth hath attacked again.

That bear must really want some fruit snacks and soda pop, then. Why else would he keep tearing up these machines?

I got one just like it. What is it about this month or so in particular that's attracting the Err Bear so much?

Maybe they loaded the vending machines with honey-center chocolate eggs, but they ran out and thus Err Bear is searching for more.

I noticed it reset the member count again today too. Perhaps it's due to hibernation being over.

I actually got the Err Bear awhile back and that made me wonder.
What if he's poor and hungry, and it is because of the hunger that he needs to steal food just to survive. He doesn't like to scare people, but he has to to get the food because no one will willingly hand it over to him. He lives a shameful, lonely life that no bear ever wants.
Or it could be that he's a bear and he does bear things because rawr. You decide.
