So, I think Disney's Frozen is pretty cool, so why don't we all chill out and talk about it. The story, animation, Elsa's ice powers? I'm sure there were parts that sent a shiver down your spine. Like at the beginning of the movie, when Anna and Elsa argued. One could say they were standing on thin ice.
Ice puns are fun.
So yes, I'd love to drum up conversation about Frozen. I rather think it'll be fun. Don't get cold feet on me now.

This pitch-corrected "male" version of Let It Go actually doesn't sound weird. Just goes to show how awesome Idina Menzel's voice is, huh? There's already talk of a sequel in the works, and it'd BETTER have more of Elsa in it. By more of Elsa, I mean that in a way that doesn't involve foisting a romantic relationship on her. Especially a straight one. Normally I don't jump to go "no way this chick likes guys" but Elsa definitely set off my not-straight-dar. Like gaydar, but more all-encompassing. Still, even then I doubt living alone and afraid of touching people for that long would put her in a good spot to jump straight into romance. Maybe in ten more years she'll be ready for that.

A sequel all about Elsa would be nice, but I want answers, really. Like...how did Elsa even get her ice powers in the first place?
I'd be happier if disney just avoided giving Elsa a relationship.

For all we know she could be asexual, which would also be awesome. Take that, shippers!
I kind of want to see her either relapse or use the powers to do something cool like beat up a villain. I mean, if you think hard about it, they're pretty much saying she can never experience a negative emotion again or she runs the risk of lapsing back into power incontinence. Also, most people don't hug their sister twice and have that magically undo ten years of emotional repression. Maybe the musical can delve more into that sort of stuff since the broadway target audience tends to like their angst angsty.

I'd love to see her ice powers used in times other than to look pretty. Let's see some ice action. That'd be cool.
Also, because I didn't pay attention or something, what were Anna and Elsa's ages during most of the movie?

Alright, that would make sense. I figured at the beginning, Anna was around 4-5 years old, and Elsa was around 9. But these things aren't very clear sometimes.

So to the surprise of absolutely no one, Frozen took home Oscars. Unfortunately I wasn't watching and only heard Travolta butcher Adele Dazeem's name later online somewhere.

I'd heard about it, but was not watching the Oscars. Too busy doing other things. In other news, I got the soundtrack. I quite like some of the unused songs that they had.

I agree with all of this. Frozen is the first Disney film that I've actually wanted a sequel to for the first time in forever, I believe. I'm dying to see more of Elsa, particularly her rekindled friendship with Anna, but all the other characters as well. And that's saying something considering that supporting characters are usually kind of annoying in even the better Disney films. A good way to explore her character in a post open gate world might be to have her go on a journey to save Anna this time around. Although considering she has the power to freeze an entire country, she might be a little OP for a quest. And if they did have to go the unfortunate route of shoving in a romance, I would also love for it to be a gay one. I know not everyone did, but I was one of the many who caught those undertones from Let it Go and her whole story in general. But let's be honest, Disney would never have the balls to do that. The best we can hope for is no romance. Maybe the musical can delve more into that sort of stuff since the broadway target audience tends to like their angst angsty. So they are making a musical? I figured it wouldn't be long after listening to the soundtrack the first time. The music certainly sounds like something from Broadway rather than a standard Disney film, which is another great thing about it.

In other news, I got the soundtrack. I quite like some of the unused songs that they had. You've got the Deluxe Version? Nice! I wound up settling for the standard one when I walked out of the theater and decided I needed a hard copy RIGHT. THIS. SECOND. I'm blaming Capcom so much for this. They have killed waiting for me. I literally cannot wait long enough to place an internet order for a better soundtrack CD. I think I have a problem. Yeah, definitely. I don't think I knew one person who walked into the theater expecting to like Olaf or Sven based on the stuff Disney decided to show in the promos. Underselling the show was actually a pretty smart move. All I can say is thank god Olaf never made a lame snow pun. A good way to explore her character in a post open gate world might be to have her go on a journey to save Anna this time around. Although considering she has the power to freeze an entire country, she might be a little OP for a quest. If Arendelle had some kind of really big bad to deal with, like a new sort of Maleficent, that'd definitely pose a decent enough threat where Elsa'd actually have a chance of losing. Then again, I can definitely see a rivalry with Elsa going south very quickly, especially if they made a fire-slinging rival like oh-so-many fanfic writers have already done since the movie's release. Any sequel in which Elsa has to face off against her fire-based future boyfriend is worthy of smashing with a set of brass knuckles and flushing down a hundred toilets in perfect unison. Let's see where they're sitting in five more years. Just this year Disney finally got around to putting a lesbian couple in a bit role on a kids' sitcom. Jennifer Lee neither confirmed nor denied anything involving Elsa's sexual orientation when prompted on Twitter, but I'd personally extrapolate this to mean she doesn't want Elsa to attain any romance in the sequel either. In any case, the Broadway target audience would DEFINITELY prefer any sort of queer relationship to a straight one in THAT adaptation. So they are making a musical? I figured it wouldn't be long after listening to the soundtrack the first time. The music certainly sounds like something from Broadway rather than a standard Disney film, which is another great thing about it. Wanna know why Frozen sounds like something on Broadway? Lemme break it down for ya: Elsa's voice actress is practically a household name for anyone who's into musicals.Kristoff's voice actor was in this musical I don't really like too much called Spring Awakening, and Glee, which was my personal punching bag for a while. Olaf's voice actor was Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon, where he costarred with the actor who played Bryan in "The New Normal." <-(Warning: Very explicit language in most songs from The Book of Mormon...which coming out of Olaf's mouth, makes it even funnier.)

Yeah, if Frozen 2 involved some sort of fire-based villain, I would not be pleased. Her powers are often referred to as a curse, so maybe that could be played with. Maybe a Maleficent type actually did curse her and now he/she shows up when Elsa not only learns to control her powers, but uses them for good. Ensue big baddery and adventure.
And I did know that Idina Menzel was a broadway performer, but I hadn't realized so much of the rest of the cast was as well. More Book of Mormon connections too, I see. Last night I read an infuriating article written by an infuriating Mormon about how Frozen is brainwashing children to not hate gay people, and she also cited that the writer of Let It Go was prominent on the Book of Mormon. Clearly, Frozen is the product of depraved, gay-loving minds that are out to get the Mormons.
Blech.

Ironically, all of the Mormons I know loved Frozen and thought the Book of Mormon was hilarious. IIRC, Trey and Matt even said they thought Mormons were cool enough that they felt the need to write the musical in the first place, and the Mormon church actually advertised in the playbills. That one Mormon must've been in a vocal minority.
I assume you're talking about Robert Lopez, right? He wrote the music for Avenue Q as well. Which totally won Wicked's Tony, by the way. >_> Ten years later and I'm -still- sore over that, but now Idina's singing prompted an Oscar, so I suppose I ought to Let It Go.
What if in the Frozen sequel, the originator of the curse came back because they noticed that Elsa wasn't miserable with her powers anymore, then decided to take them away because she wasn't suffering enough?

At first I was wondering if Elsa would really even mind having the powers/curse taken away, but I suppose that would be pretty counterintuitive to the themes of accepting yourself and learning to be comfortable with who you are if she was just okay with being made "normal".
