Hey guys. Just wanted to stop in and show everyone some of the projects I've been working on for the last couple years. I figured the best way to do this was a short video showing my progress and some screenshots. The apple market is somthing I've been mapping, re-mapping for many years. It started out as something a little more simplistic. You can see some of the textures that I've lost over the years in some of these images. and I guess I was thinking about a metal roof back then. Some Wiredframes Here is one of the newer shots with the Tron model that was ripped from Marvel Vs Capcom 3. This was a short lived experiment in building dungeons using the portal map maker. It didn't turn out too well unfortunately. My entry into the design a ruin contest from last year. Early shots of the Flutter map. You can see I was building the upper decks in the wrong direction back then. Luckily I realized my mistake, took a while to fix though. One of the latest screens of the flutter Here is the video showing some current progress! I really like some of the other projects I've seen on here lately. The Megaman Model from Joshmnky is the best fanmade model of rock that I've seen yet! Tuttle's Legendary Travels looks like it's coming along great! The Master System game is doing really well too! Hopefully some of you might be able to help me out in the future! oh just wanted to add in I'm always looking for help! game design, dungeon/level design, ideas, textures, writers, concept art, animators, 3d artists, coders, familiarity with the source engine or blender everyone is welcomed! Thanks everyone!

Ah yes, I remember this project from a while back. Looks like you've made solid progress on it since then. Have you abandoned the Left 4 Dead angle, or are you just leaving yourself open for other directions? EDIT: Those older Apple Market shots really look like you were going for a "Kattelox 17" mashup. Would be interesting to see, if you got texture artists, if you could avoid that, or if it's unavoidable with the shared objects.

I decided I'd rather try and do a real fangame and not a l4d map pack. The video is the newest versions of everything. you can see aside from the props like melons and benches and a few doors I made just about every texture in the map, same with the flutter. And the music I made myself as well. What I'm looking for now are solid dungeon designers and of course 3d modelers and animators but I know those are hard to find.

Free melons? You've caught my attention.
Anyway, glad to see you've continued this. The locations look really good. I have to admit though, I am somewhat disappointed that you can't read Roll's diary.

I haven't been flattered like that in quite some time. Thank you. I love what you're doing here. It is quite impressive and I really want to see where it leads. I'm wondering though, does Source support a 3rd person view? I'd like to help, but I'm pretty much tied up with TLT. That isn't to say I am completely void of side projects, since I want to develop my skills in a well-rounded way. Here's a ruin test I did... yesterday? Oh God, that's why I did so bad on that test imgur.com/lqbyol9If you need ruins, I KNOW WHERE I'VE HEARD OF YOU! *ahem,* sorry. I just realized you were my second youtube subscriber. I thought you where a bot or something before. Anywho, I might be able to lend a hand with ruins someday, as it plays well into a side project I was considering. My plan was to make castle sections that repeat, such as spires and outer walls, so I could throw together lots of nice castles quickly and easily. If I find the time I wouldn't mind modifying that plan to suit this project. As for the Megaman, he's a constant work in progress. I was thinking about putting him on Blendswap eventually, so I wouldn't mind letting you use him.

I did some coding in the past and modified the third person camera, I completely forgot to show it. The model is just the default hl2 place holder. As for the rock model apparently it's pretty simple to rig Blender models into usable source engine models. www.desura.com/games/half-life-2/news/blender-smd-tools-10-released. There are a bunch of tutorials for it. So it shouldn't be too hard! Here is a quick little video I took showing what third person stuff I have so far. I can change to the rock model, the tron model, or the serv bot but they don't have animations in them. Also I'll be using this account to upload videos in the future so I can keep my "funny" videos separate from the legends stuff.

Is that 3 Bonne Brothers on a mandolin?! Where would you ever use something like that in the finished project? joshmnky - You've gone and reminded me of this. If only I knew then what I know now...

crumson I must admit, that is an interesting choice of instruments. It makes it feel a little middle ages-y. The 3rd person view looks perfect as far as I can tell. Chiz Actually, I wanted to redo the textures shown on my pic with HD ones, but there wasn't enough in the original wall tile for me to really see what was going on. Is this left over from the MML EXpansion project? I would love to get my hands on the old stuff and take a look, but all the links in the archive page are broken. Do you know of a place where some HD Legends textures or anything like that could be found?

Oh cool. I have no music making skills at all. Sometimes it seems like I'm the only one around here who doesn't. Just knowing it's a ukulele changes the way I interpret it somehow.
You should try doing a side by side, original Flutter to new Flutter video someday if you get a chance.

Incoming small update. The flutter has been updated with a bridge, and the cargo bay/roll's workshop. Two custom models have been compiled and imported the Horokko made by fAB and an un-animated player model by Joshmnky. Hopefully soon I can get the player model to look and feel like an actual player model! Interesting that this forums background color is almost exactly the same as the sky color from MML1 and the alternating posts are the color of the water!

Wow! I have no idea how I didn't see this thread for this long! I really like what you've done here Crumson! Apple Market looks freaking wonderful and so does the Flutter! I'm also pretty impressed by the outside of the city and it's walls. The lighting is also pretty divine. I look forward to seeing more. I'd also like to hear more of your music because it sounds pretty great. The Apple Market theme that plays in the video is very close to the original but noticeably different! I've got to say my favorite thing is how you throw stuff all the time

Needs more... anti-aliasing. If I were to be critical of your current Flutter, Crumson, I'd probably target some of the textures. Maybe it's due to the lighting, the angle of the picture, or whatever, but some of the wall and floor textures seem to be tearing into one another. Bit of a nitpick, but that's the kinda stuff that could go unnoticed, y'know? Other than that, you're doing a great job. This project has a lot of potential, and could easily stand out amongst the many dime-a-dozen Sources mods circulating the internet.

Well, Source did a number on Megaman, but the environment looks great to me. I think this scene is hilarious. I imagine Megaman is yelling "come at me bro!"
My first guess for the weird effects is that the model is scaled down too much in Blender. Did you have to increase his scale a lot after importing into Source? That may lead to round-off error. My second guess is that you wrote a code specifically for doing this so that it would look more like the games did on Playstation XD

I did have to scale his model up alot but I don't think that's what's causing it. I think it has to do with normal consistency? When I invert it it's the exact opposite of the ones being rendered see through. lemme show you an example. Is there a way I can get all the faces to face outward? When I hit control N in blender and one of them I checkd the box and the other I didnt.
