I think it's better. A lot better. V4 has so much questionable emphasis on blue and red that it's kinda hard to look at at times. Black links on blue is also a bit difficult to look at, It just looked so... bright, yet so dark at the same time. Bit messy, even. All in all, V4's an acquired taste for me. I think V5's a change for the better, since it's a pleasing dark throughout, and looks much more pleasingly techy with the 'greydiants' firsthand. I'm not knocking V4 aside... Or well, I am. It's not bad, but to me, it's not nearly as good as V5. I'll use this one for years to come [unless V5 reaverbot pops up, in which case I'll judge again] and pity any guest that doesn't register to experience the awesome. Although, they could just click my prtscr link to experience the awesome for all of 5 seconds, but yeah.

I made a blue-to-light blue gradient equivalent of V4's red and didn't like it, so I'm trying a blue-to-black instead for now... I much prefer the metal shine background myself, but I'm open to other opinions.
Actually they were changed for The Main Gate style. In fact, these ones were linked directly to those as an afterthought. If people like them so much perhaps it would be worth doing official versions for this skin as well as V4.
Proboards' new style defaults. I agree, it's an improvement. I always worry about changing long-established things like that, but I could put them on V4 as well if enough people like them.
I never say it enough, but thanks for all the hard work you put into this.
Again, I've been hesitant to change some things. The Home Page, Email and PM icons are at least forum related but the others, I've never wanted to touch since people are familiar with those designs and colors being what they are. Other opinions?
@all Page 2 Comments Thanks and enjoy!

Just my opinion, but that blue/black gradient looks far too vibrant/saturated for the System theme. Could you make it match the blue in the navigation buttons, for better consistency? EDIT: I just noticed you said you already tried this and didn't like it. Maybe you could use the Purple from the links/Elysium symbol, since that color's a little underutilized in the boards' color-scheme. I really like the blue, though. I made some some (rather sloppy, quick 'n' dirty) messenger icons that fit the theme a little better Again, I've been hesitant to change some things. The Home Page, Email and PM icons are at least forum related but the others, I've never wanted to touch since people are familiar with those designs and colors being what they are. [More] opinions [from Pitch]? Yeah, I had the same thought trying to recolor the AIM icon. It doesn't look right in any color but yellow, even if the shades are the same relative to each other.. I can see how some people might not like that, but I feel like the default icons kind of stick out like a sore thumb now, next to the themed icons. If nothing else, please change the MSN icon, which is a horrible abomination that only looks right on a white background, and is just awful to look at in general. I couldn't even recolor that because it was a mess of choppy, dithered shades of blue... :06: It doesn't even have to match the theme. Does Proboards have a better default version of that we could use? If no one else feels the same, by all means ignore my suggestion though. I'm perfectly capable of overriding the style on my own computer.. :14:

The blue gradient only just started appearing for me, and I kinda have to agree that it looks a bit disjointed compared with the rest of the theme. I vote for changing it to match the baby blue icons, or for the original grey.

Yeah, the blue gradient is way too saturated for this theme. Try something either purple or grayer blue.

I dunno about grayer blue or purple, but I'm pretty satisfied with Pitch's suggestion.Code's available for Chrome & Firefox's Stylish Plugin as of now to anybody who's interested to try it on. He had a pretty horrid time getting it for Firefox; I have the fairly amusing AIM log(s) to prove it.

Alternatively, if you just don't like gradients at all, you can go with something simple: @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
@-moz-document domain("mmls.proboards.com") { .titlebg{ background-image: none!important; background-color: #405C6C!important;} .catbg { background-image: none!important; background-color: #546474!important; border-top:1px solid #B4C5D4!important; border-bottom:2px solid #7C8A9B!important;} .cattext{ color:#FFFFFF!important;} }

Version 5 of the forum skin looks wonderful, especially the System version. It must have been losts of hard work and effort to get it to work right. Great job.

It looks as if System's being outfitted with gradients on mini-profiles and sub-header (I think that's what you call them?) bars, along with Reply buttons having been updated too.
Killing off some of the gray helps complement what's left, I'd say.

I'm surprised you didn't comment on the forum's (now fixed, don't worry) width issues, Mikey. But I'm not diggin' these new additions. They're so stock-looking and fugly.

Sorry for the upset here. There were a lot of little image and CSS adjustments that only the V4 skin got last year which I've long been meaning to get back to and apply to V5 as well.
What I did was compare V4 and V5's CSS sheets, copied over changes and was going to tweak values, but there was a mix up along the way and we had to revert.
Though now that it comes up, it occurs to me that maybe everyone who's used to using V5 might prefer to just leave it as is, seeing as it's been so long. Opinions, anyone?

For starters, how 'bout letting us know whenever you'll be making adjustments to the code in advance? That probably sounds a lot more unpleasant than it actually is, but I had to say it. We were all freaking out that Proboards shipped a new update of V5, for goodness' sake! Heck, you easily cut out the middleman by using a test-forum of sorts. Kinda risky to be changing stuff on the forum-proper if you're not 100% about it working. As for my opinion, I dunno. I'm not even sure on the specific differences between V4 and V5. Chiz, do ya' wanna weigh in? I'm clueless here.

I'm open to change, but I have to say that I've been happily using V5 System ever since its release, and haven't had any real problems with it. It was interesting to see things sway out of gray for a bit though. I hadn't realized they were V4's buttons.

In the past I've always just kind of done stuff on the fly and if things looked off for 10-15 minutes it's never been a big deal, but I guess times have changed. We've got more members in tune with the place now, plus there was never any danger of someone else making simultaneous changes to the forums skins before, which is where today's problems came in. Anyway, yeah, advanced warning next time. ^_^;

As long as the forum is perfectly functional I'm fine with anything.
