INTRODUCTION
Time for TLT's fourth community participation Event! This time we're taking our cue directly from the Legends 3 Devroom's Townsperson event. We're going to have lots of characters scattered across five islands, and we want you to help us bring some of them to life! Who are they? What's their background? What do they say when you talk to them? Where do they like to hang out? That's up to you! Although this Event itself is as prominent as our other MAJOR Events, we're classifying it as a MINI Event due to the fact that there will be numerous winners contributing to the whole. Incidentally, MINI Event wins now count toward prizes. GUIDELINES
* Make sure your characters feel at home in the Legends universe. * You may submit up to 2 entries per character type--that's 12 chances to win! * No team entries this time. If you work with someone else, only one person can take credit. * We welcome entries from around the world, but please use English or we will be unable to consider your idea. Keep in mind that we will be having day and night in TLT, though there will be far fewer people around at night. * Dialogue Lines are what your character says when talked to. Each line should be limited to 100 characters (including spaces). Dialogue Line 1: Whoa! You startled me! What are you doing here at this hour? Dialogue Line 2: Me? I can't resist the terrifying thrill of spotting a reaverbot out there! Dialogue Line 3: Nothing chills the blood like a red, glowing eye moving about in the darkness... Character Type: Old Man Character Name: Welken Background/Personality: Claims he was once a renowned digger but now it seems he's lost his marbles. Location in Game: Standing on the center line of a busy street. Dialogue Line 1: My oh my, the cars rush by! Dialogue Line 2: Everyone's in such a hurry here! The roads on Dashe Island are so much slower and quieter. Dialogue Line 3: I'm afraid to finish crossing the street! This Event will be open to submissions from October 11th through October 31st, 2012.All entries should be posted here in this thread. We want them all in one place so entries sent to us by email, PM, or in comments directly on the TLT site will not be considered. Guest posting is enabled for the duration of this Event. WINNERS
* We're aiming to select 18 winners, three for each of the six character types. * The winners will get their name in the credits and their character's dialogue included in the game. That little blue fella' must'a took it when i was sleeping. Dialogue Line 2: Or... i dropped it? Dialogue Line 3: ...Or...nevermind i just hope i get my tool box back!

Dialogue Line 2: You people always try to take jobs away from hard workers. Dialogue Line 3: Im here, so you should just go back home.
Character Type: Worker Character Name: Tiny Background/Personality: He frightens the rest of the workforce. Location in Game: Near a subgate, construction area. Dialogue Line 1: I always say, the absence of evidence isn't the evidence of absence. Dialogue Line 2: What island you from? Dialogue Line 3: 'What' aint no island i ever heard of, they speak english in 'What'?
Character Type: Teen Guy Character Name: Dog Woods Background/Personality: A nice guy who tries to act tough. Location in Game: near the item shop. Dialogue Line 1: Hey broverbot, who's that girl i seen you with. Dialogue Line 2: Do you know if uh....oh, nevermind. Dialogue Line 3: Actually, just forget i said anything.
Character Type: Teen Guy Character Name: unnamed Background/Personality: a nervous weird teenager. Location in Game: Ontop of a roof. Dialogue Line 1: Woah!! i didnt see you there! Dialogue Line 2: What am i doing up here? Dialogue Line 3: ...i really dont know...
Character Type: Teen Girl Character Name: Maria Background/Personality: a girl who always seems to go through stokes of bad luck and always tries to help others. Location in Game: On the floor holding her knee. Dialogue Line 1: OW! well i found it... Dialogue Line 2: I seen this little blue guy running with something im looking for. Dialogue Line 3: I almost got him, but i uh...i tripped.
Character Type: Teen Girl Background/Personality: this girl is deep in thought, she is often very aloof. Location in Game: Near the flower shop. Dialogue Line 1: Huh? Oh sorry, i didnt hear you. Dialogue Line 2: Im sorry, i just have a lot on my mind. Dialogue Line 3: I wonder...
Character Type: Plump Women Character Name: Marcy Background/Personality: She is in love with tuttle, and loves to follow him around. Location in Game: Spontaneously around town. Dialogue Line 1: Do you have a map? 'Cause im getting lost in your eyes! Dialogue Line 2: Oh, your so handsome! Dialogue Line 3: I dont know if you beautiful yet, because i cant get passed your eyes.
Character Type: Busy Lady Character Name: Irene Background/Personality: Works transporting items between the docking area to the item shop. Location in Game: Spontaneously around town. Dialogue Line 1: If you need help, im busy, wish i could help. Dialogue Line 2: Sir, i really have to get a move on, i deeply apoligize. Dialogue Line 3: Excuse me, i really have to get a move on, wish i can chat.

Character Type: Old Man Character Name: Guillaume Background/Personality: A self-important gentleman who dresses stereotypically high-class and formal; black suit or tuxedo, top hat, monocle, pocketwatch, etc. Quotes almost exclusively from Shakespeare (often ill-fitting and non-sequitur, due to not truly understanding the quotes he parrots), falling back to pseudo-middle-English and faux-dramatic-speech when absolutely required. Ends up coming off as a cheap, substanceless imitation of Tuttle, but has the opportunity to be inadvertantly insightful if handled properly. Location In Game: Roaming amongst cultural centres, museums, or anywhere he feels deserves his air of sophistication. Dialogue 1: Blow, blow, thou winter wind! Thou art not so unkind as man's ingratitude! Dialogue 2: To mourn a mischief that is past and gone, is the next way to draw new mischief on! Dialogue 3: Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once.
Character Type: Old Man Character Name: Montague (prefers 'Monty') Background/Personality: An excitable old man desperately trying to reclaim his youth and vitality by chasing the latest trends and pretending to be a teenager. Often anachronistic and unintelligible but is endearing nonetheless. Location in Game: Where all the hepcats swing. Dialogue Line 1: The nurses at the hospice really need to let their hair down, you know? "The volume's too loud", "Heavy metal is disruptive", "Please Monty, it's 2 in the morning", pah! Dialogue Line 2: These new 45s are so radical, even the squares are rooting for it! Dialogue Line 3: This place is so kicking! I haven't felt this alive in years!
Character Type: Worker Character Name: Weston Background/Personality: A hard working construction crewman who, through happenstance, always ends up on the particularly painful assignments. Location in Game: On a particularly small (half a square metre) named "island" (really a large rock or tree with a bit of sand around it) off the coast of a major island. There is an incredibly shallow & narrow (perhaps a metre across, 20cm deep) named "river" (really a puddle) between the main island and the "island" Weston is on that Tuttle refuses to cross, but is still close enough to talk normally. Dialogue Line 1: I'm suppose to be laying construction markers for a new build project... on this island... for a large resort. Dialogue Line 2: This island is a lot smaller than it was made out to be by the realtor. Dialogue Line 3: All the supplies have already been contracted for this! So much wasted zenny...
Character Type: Teen Guy Character Name: Aldous Background/Personality: A paranoid 20-something who sees the game's shortcomings, and various gaming clichés, as a giant conspiracy. Dialogue 1: Have you ever noticed, everyone keeps saying the same things...you think they're planning something? Dialogue 2: Have you ever felt, you might just be a puppet to a being from another dimension...? Space reaverbots could be coming to harvest our souls! Dialogue 3: Have you ever noticed, when something bad happens, everyone wakes up the next day as if nothing happened? It's like the universe itself erased it! This is way bigger than that shady bake sale last year...
Character Type: Teen Guy Character Name: Harlan Background/Personality: A 'post-human' enthusiast who has willfully incurred dramatic body modifications and biomechanical conversions (much like someone may get extensive tattoos and piercings IRL). Is always excited to show off his latest addition. Location in Game: Hanging around industrial centres and mechanic shops (for inspiration) Dialogue Line 1: Hey, check this out! I just got new hair made from fibre optics! At night, my head looks like a cross between a showy casino and a laser light show! Dialogue Line 2: My parents always told me, I could grow up to be whatever I wanted! They always looked at me funny when I said I wanted to be a reaverbot, but they aren't looking at me funny anymore! Dialogue Line 3: You ever think people and reaverbots can live in peace together? Man and machine, putting aside their differences and removing the divide... I feel like it might be possible, you know?
Character Type: Teen Girl Character Name: Rosaline Background/Personality: An environmentally-conscientious woman who feels the healthiest lifestyle is a complete return to nature. She wears a (faux) fur raccoon costume and spends most of her day foraging for plants and communing with the local fauna. Location in Game: Various forested and grassy areas, away from civilization. Dialogue Line 1: I have renounced my place in the ugly urban blight on the world, and have adopted the wonderful, beautiful ways of the noble woodland creature. It's the only natural way! Dialogue Line 2: Are you looking to become one with the planet, too? I would take you back to my clan, but they're an awfully skittish bunch that don't like strangers. Dialogue Line 3: 'Tktkstnoo tsktk?'...that's raccoonese for 'Can you direct me to the nearest public house for a strong drink?'
Character Type: Teen Girl Character Name: Anastasia Background/Personality: A counter-culture beatnik who, much to her dismay, has developed a large following and is dangerously approaching -gasp- the mainstream. Location in Game: Here and there Dialogue Line 1: Pirates. Greed, violence, passion! No different than us. It's all a question...of honesty. Dialogue Line 2: Shining, glowing, empowering, spinning, endlessly, spinning, spinning, spinning! Then silence. Such is life. Such is ours. Dialogue Line 3: What is reality, or fiction? Distinction, or perspective? If my realities aren't yours, then what of my fictions?
Character Type: Plump Woman Character Name: Theresia (nicknamed 'Three-Card') Background/Personality: A hopelessly compulsive gambler. Her mind is constantly drifting to, and associates the world with, matters involving cards, dice, and fast money. Dialogue Line 1: I wish they'd open a casino nearby. I hate having to travel to Ryship every weekend! Dialogue Line 2: I got a home pachinko game for my birthday once...but it just isn't the same! Dialogue Line 3: Rebel figures are fashionable right now. My daughter beau's a biker, one of my girlfriends dreams of pirates, and I'm in love with a one-armed bandit!
Character Type: Busy Lady Character Name: Gertrude Background/Personality: A woman obsessed with farming after playing a new hit farming video game. Dialogue 1: Have you seen my field lately? I made a picture with the vegetables! Dialogue 2: I planted some strawberries in my backyard 3 hours ago, and they aren't ready for harvest yet! Did I do something wrong...? Dialogue 3: I want to buy a cow for a pet...they're so cute!

Character Type: Old Man Character Name: Marcus Background/Personality: An observant and somewhat arrogant old man with a razor sharp tongue. Location in Game: A bus stop or sidewalk (day) Dialogue Line 1: Questions are a danger to yourself and a burden to others. Dialogue Line 2: You don't talk much, do you? One thing's for sure, you're blocking my view. Dialogue Line 3: I'm pretty sure you have something better to do than bug me. I can't get peace anywhere I go!
Character Type: Old Man Character Name: N/A Background/Personality: A man of many years who claims to have seen it all. Location in Game: Anywhere in any town. (Day) Dialogue Line 1: Pigs have flown. I've seen it. Dialogue Line 2: Someone's traveled to the moon. I've seen it. Dialogue Line 3: The satellite device that will end the world. I've seen it.
Character Type: Worker Character Name: N/A Background/Personality: A bit of a laid back worker who just wants to avoid trouble with his boss. Location in Game: Construction-ey area. Dialogue Line 1: Oh hello. Would you like a quick tour? I need to look busy. Dialogue Line 2: Nah, I'm just kidding. I might be sleazy, but not that sleazy. Dialogue Line 3: Never do today what you can't put off until tomorrow. It's a shame construction doesn't work like that.
Character Type: Teen Guy Character Name: Randy Background/Personality: The only thing known about this guy is that he tries a little too hard to be cool. He's probably giving people the wrong idea with his attire choice in conjunction with only appearing at night. Location in Game: Outside Junk Shop (night) Dialogue Line 1: That place sells some pretty interesting stuff, doesn't it? I wonder if they have insurance. Dialogue Line 2: I think it's easier to see at night. Many people would disagree with me though. Dialogue Line 3: I'm trying to think of a way I can go into the shop without having them raise the prices 10%.
Character Type: Teen Girl Character Name: N/A Background/Personality: A girl who likes gossip, and talking about items. Location in Game: Just outside a city gate, preferably in an earlier setting of the game. Dialogue Line 1: Don't ever forget to refill your energy canteen before you go on a dig! Dialogue Line 2: Usually it's best to always have a weapon on hand. Do you whack stuff with your cane? Dialogue Line 3: You should pay a visit to the junk store if you plan to go digging.
Character Type: Plump Woman Character Name: Marlene Background/Personality: A jolly woman with a knack for creating the worst tasting baked goods on the island. It's unclear as to whether or not she knows, but she enjoys offering samples to poor unsuspecting passerby. Location in Game: Random Bakery Shop/Stall (Day) Dialogue Line 1: Why hello there, would you like a taste? Best on the island! Dialogue Line 2: I won't take no for an answer if you continue to stick around! Dialogue Line 3: Oh? You're back! I knew you'd be back. They always come back. Try something already!
Character Type: Busy Lady Character Name: N/A Background/Personality: A girl who's nuts for... well, nuts. Location in Game: A restaurant every so often, preferably sitting at a table, waiting to give amusing knowledge. She's busy, after all, so she may or may not always be in sight. Dialogue Line 1: There's so many kinds of nuts; Acorns, Pistachios, Macadamia, Almonds, Pecans, Cashews... I can't name them all in one breath! Dialogue Line 2: Some people call me nuts... And they're right! It's a compliment nowadays. Dialogue Line 3: Wanna know some more nuts? Well there's also Chestnuts, Hazelnuts, Walnuts, Peanuts, Butternuts, and Deku nuts!

Nice images, prototypelegends, but I'm sorry to say that we're only accepting text-based entries for the characters shown. I do apologize if that wasn't clear enough. I've edited the first post to clarify that point and avoid any further confusion.
On the upside, the first 24 hours have been a smashing success! Keep 'em comin', people!

Location in Game:an urban area, preferably by something construction oriented Dialogue Line 1:Ah ha! Now I can REALLY get some work done! Dialogue Line 2:I do so good with this arm they'll probably make me job supervisor. Dialogue Line 3:Then again if I'm promoted I can't use my Drill arm. I'll pass!

Dialogue Line 2:They say the Quint Islands are fading away nowadays, but I'm still as busy as ever! Dialogue Line 3:All work and no play... sounds about right!
Character Type:Johnathon Character Name:Worker Background/Personality:a hungry handyman Location in Game:urban areas Dialogue Line 1:'I eat therefore I'm ham", I think that's the line, it's like 'you are what you think' or something. Dialogue Line 2:After a long day at work I could use a royale with cheese! Dialogue Line 3:I don't know what a gyro is but I want to try one! Oh and some pizza! With a side of curry rice! (Day) Location in Game: Library Dialogue Line 1: Libraries provide sanctuary to those who wish to escape from the unbearable ignorance of other people. Dialogue Line 2: A vast collection of mankind's discoveries, coupled with an unbroken silence that offers focus for the academic mind... Dialogue Line 3: There is truly no better paradise for those who crave knowledge and enrichment from literature. (Night) Location in Game: Residential Area, wandering up and down the sidewalk. Dialogue Line 1: Oh, why must I be infatuated with her? Love is such a mysterious emotion... Dialogue Line 2: I read everything in the library about attraction between humans, but I still do not understand... Dialogue Line 3: One night, I will gather the courage to confess my feelings to my beloved Michelle... But not tonight, unfortunately...

Character Type: Teen Girl Character Name: Livy Background/Personality: A sarcastic tomboy that loves to provide Tuttle with misleading information Location in Game: It can vary from place-to-place, but usually near the exit of a town.
Dialogue Line 1: Have you ever seen the legendary Platinum King Miroc? Apparently, it only appears at a full-moon and will drop a mega-rare top hat upon being defeated!
Dialogue Line 2: That's a pretty lame cane you got there. I'm a nice gal, so I'll help you out! If you try throwing it into the Two Goddesses' Pond, a spirit will appear and grant you with a shiny new golden one! Just make sure you answer her question with a 'yes'.
Dialogue Line 3: How do I know all of this stuff? Well, my dad works for Finneas A. Blanchard. You know, the CEO of the Kaybl Windows? You don't, huh? Dude, you need to stop living underneath that rock of yours.

Character Type: Old Man Character Name: Charles Background/Personality: an old man full of wisdom and knowledge Location in Game: Tronne Island (maybe near the mentioned golf course) Dialogue Line 1: Take it from an old man like myself, be on your guard at all times. Dialogue Line 2: Don't run head on into a situation you know little about. Dialogue Line 3: Carry around some food in case your energy runs low.

I have a question. Actually, two.
Are the three dialogue lines meant to appear one after another as the player keeps interacting with a character, or maybe each line can be said in a different place at a different time in the game? It could be interesting to see how a character acts in three different situations.
Also, would it be OK, if some of the lines were a little more than 100 characters? I guess, no, but it seems like people are submitting without caring too much about this :) I'd better ask before posting.

Sorry for the late reply on this! 1) The dialogue lines will be used for repeated talking at the same time and place. We will of course be giving different lines for the NPCs at different points in the game, and for the winning entries we'll be taking into account their personality and original dialogue lines to decide what else they say. 2) Yeah, it's okay for them to be a hair longer than 100 characters; this is the preferred limit, but the limit was set down mostly as a way to avoid novels being written up for dialogue lines. Short and simple is the idea. Also, keep in mind that we may be slightly tweaking winning entries as well, so they could end up below or under the original character limit anyway.

Dialogue Line 2: Hmm, if ze crystals' rotation causes oscillations in ze Biggs Field, perhaps that could... no no no Dialogue Line 3: If only Mr. Loathe could see ze potential of zis research, then I would have plenty of funding!

Location in Game: Hanging out behind the local store at night. Dialogue Line 1: "Best watch yo'self 'round me, Tophat. Blue Bombers, represent!" Dialogue Line 2: "How big are the Blue Bombers? Well...there's me, Todd, and...um..." Dialogue Line 3: "Well, what we lack in numbers we make up in heart! We gunna stick it to da man all up in this, G!"
