Now that SOPA and PIPA are pretty much dead, a new anti-piracy treaty emerges. This one, more deadly than SOPA and PIPA combined.
The ACTA treaty is currently being legislated in Europe. But that doesn't mean it won't come to the US. So in any case, I hope it never gets passed. While SOPA and PIPA were bills that would have censored the internet in fear of piracy, the ACTA bill not only would do just that, but halt the production of generic drugs and control what seeds we put in the ground in the name of patents. This would suck for any of us on the internet, (that being all of us,) and would suck harder for those of us who are on medication. For instance, I have rheumatoid arthritis. I take methol trexate and diclophinac sodium to treat it. If ACTA gets signed into law, the meds I take would be taken off the market and I would have to shell out more money for mainstream drugs. And judging by how many mainstream drugs get taken off the market like Lipitor and Yaz, I don't trust that.
