To supplement Raven8's flyer, Score and I whipped up a handout to give to people to spread around the whole Legends 3 story. If anyone is going to any sort of event with people in it, at all, it would be a good idea to print and hand a bunch of these out and show them why this game is important! (The big version, of course. Which, if you are new to this, can be accessed by clicking the thumbnail.)

It's no good, Dashe; you've made the QR code too small, and it can't be read anymore. It needs to be made bigger.

Might could work on improving the overlay, as well. It makes the background a bit hard to see.

How big does the code need to be to be readable when printed at 300 DPI?

start with the big 500x500 one, reduce to no less than 120x120. Ideally you want it nice and clear in the print out, because crappy cell phone cameras need to be able to take a picture of it in passing.

Forgive my ignorance, but does the code actually translate into something of importance?
I particularly liked your appeal for those who haven't played the series. You managed to sum up an entire area of gamers that the industry has been ignoring for who-knows how long.
I'll likely be going to my local copy shop and grabbing a few of these. Even though I have no con-plans, a few strategically placed around town couldn't hurt >.>

They're QR codes - web-browsing cellphones can take a picture of them to decrypt some data. These QR codes contain a link to the wordpress blog. I've also sent a QR code to Dashe that contains a link to the Facebook group.
They're suppose to be easy-access for mobile browsers, since typing out a long URL is not enjoyable on, at best, a very small full keyboard, and more often, a keypad where multiple letters are on the same button.
The problem is that cellphone cameras aren't particularly good, so the the code needs to be as big and clear as possible to ensure it can be accurately copied. The threshold for error correction has dramatically been lowered due to the fact that there's a giant emotikobun in the middle of them, meaning even more importance has to be placed in making them readable.

Ah. I was familiar with the basic concept, but I wasn't aware of the fact that they were used like that.
In that case, I see your point.

This particular paper wouldn't work too well as a flyer that you'd put on a wall, since they actually have to take the time to read the whole thing, and that could stop traffic. This is the sort of thing that needs to be handed out on an individual basis. QR codes are like links. If you scan them with an advanced cell phone, it'll take you to whatever page it's connected with. Chiz, those 500x500 pixel codes are still 500x500. I didn't reduce the size at all, the page is just very, very high-resolution, for printing purposes. 2029x2709. That way you can print it without having the quality suffer. Here's a version with increased opacity for making the text more readable. Let me know if that looks better. It's a PNG so the quality is as good as it gets.

the page is just very, very high-resolution, for printing purposes. 2029x2709. Then Photobucket has reduced it to its current 766x1023, and you'll need to upload it elsewhere.

Have you got any suggestions for places to put it?

Seems like the most logical place for it would be on MMLS' server...on legends-station.com.

To supplement Raven8's flyer, Score and I whipped up a handout to give to people to spread around the whole Legends 3 story. Not trying to be rude or anything, but as a critique, I feel that the flyer isn't quite eye-catching and colorful enough, as you've essentially pasted a hefty wall-of-text over the background, pretty much making the images very difficult to see, to the point where it probably shouldn't even be there at all, really. I feel that perhaps you should also try and catch the uplifting, appealing, cheerful spirit of Legends in the ad, whilst also explaining the situation clearly. It might help in having them make a decision when they have so little to base a decision on. Afterall, a picture's worth a thousand words, right? But eh, just my thoughts.

It's all good, Hal. Just let me clear up some misconceptions you've got.
It's not a flyer. Flyers are eye-catching signs you post once in a public area. This is something you'd physically hand to people, to make them aware of this series and why it matters in the long run. Like a con freebie. They'd ideally take it with them and read it at their leisure.
The problem with just using a picture is that there really isn't a single picture that could explain to someone totally unfamiliar with the series exactly what we've been through over the last ten years. And if the image on the bottom weren't there, then it would pretty much just be a white piece of paper. Nobody would read it then.
Catch my drift?
