Playable charecter or not, he seems to have quite the skills. I wouldn't mind if he gets to be playable.. AS LONG... as it isn't like MMZX and ZXa.

I was initially a bit peeved about not being able to play as Trigger in the game. Also found a little tidbit at the bottom of this post attached. I'll wait and see how it turns out for the demo/beta. Just hoping we don't have a situation where a quarter of the game is played as him or something (reiterating my post with CJ). Attachments:

At the very least, Barrett's physical proof that the Legends series isn't like the Network Timeline, where you can literally drag and drop any character as they are from another series, give them a slight makeover without even changing their name or basic outfit, and call them a Legends character. Even though, you know, he's borrowing attributes from Protoman, Zero, Bass (?), Axl, and I actually even think Chaud, if you look at his bangs. And Appo and Dah, as far as ponytails go. As far as I know Appo and Dah were the Mega Man pioneers of the sleeping-upside-down-with-glue-in-your-ponytail hairdo. I've got my fingers crossed they give him some kind of redeeming, charming quirk that makes him fit in better. I've been hearing talk that the Bright Bats suck as a digging team in-game. All bets are off if Barrett turns out to be purifier too, though.

I see that as a fairly likely thing.
I'm pretty sure he's going to be the leader of a ragtag bunch of misfits, assuming that short blip showing a group of goofballs are the Bright Bats. It's really that hope that I'm clinging on to; if he's that sort of charismatic-yet-hopeless leader then he will be a lot of fun.

I'm still not convinced that he's supposed to be a reference to any other character. Because . . . This is all really just pushing it. I'd give you ProtoMan for the attitude and his shades, even though they're goggles, and Zero for the long hair and close-range combat, even though there's no sign that he uses a sword. The rest is just dumb. No idea where you'd get Bass. And Axl -- why? I can't think of any good reason. (I haven't actually played MMX7, though.) And he's borrowing from Chaud because of his bangs? Really? No, that's not enough to justify anything. At some point, you have to stop drawing connections. Not all similarities are significant. He appears to fill a similar role to ProtoMan or Zero, but he's not really borrowing enough from either for me to think he's actually meant to be based on them. Based on what we've seen so far, he doesn't appear to look or act all that much like them; and fundamentally speaking, his play-style looks totally new to me. It's more like they're all based on one character archetype, each in his own different kind of way. But considering how little we know already, even that's a stretch. Let it go; he's a new character.

Ah, Barret will be fine for this demo. I'm pretty sure it takes place before MML3 during the reintialization. I'm sure MML3 will star Rock and only Rock as playable character. Besides there is so much good news to be bitter about this!

I like the devroom interpretation that he is the Legends version of Akuma.
I mean just look at him punching those reaverbots in the eye and showing them who is the BOSS.

@pitch: Those were my thoughts regarding Barrett. If Mega Man was the norm, Barrett would have needed to be something to make him stand out. I was taking a stab in the dark when I thought he would have a cool factor to his personality, at least from how I saw the outline of his design before it was revealed. Archtypes aren't anything new. I'm guessing folks are still calling the Axl/Bass/Chaud bluff since they're still a little miffed at the possibility the Barrett might steal the show for now. Honestly, I don't see anything that backs up that claim. As Obelix would put it bluntly,

C'mon, everyone is missing the obvious. Barrett is Glyde's bastard son, of course.
They both are leaders of groups that FAIL HARD, and they both serve no real purpose in the series. And just like Glyde, Barrett will have a few moments in the spotlight and then never be seen again for all of eternity.
Really, even for a Prototype, I don't like the idea of Barrett (it also kinda pisses me off that they put people through the Bonne Mecha Design Contest, only to turn around and be like "Oh yeah, your design isn't going to be in the ACTUAL game. lol That'd be silly, it's just for the Prototype." Seriously, I actually feel bad for the guy who won that...), but without Inafune, I CAN NOT trust Capcom to make MML3 as it should be.
The addition of Barrett, no matter how small his role may be, is only an indication that Capcom will surely, screw this up.

Haha judgemental aren't we?
I've been just as much of Legends fan as anyone else here I bet, well tbh I just love Megaman in general. Zx, X, Battle Network you name it. Anyhow that's besides the point. I like Barret and welcome him with with open arms, I personally feel he's a fresh addition to an already colorful cast.
"Um hey Kkdog, we didn't wait 10(or 11 they keep exaggerating it) years to play with some new guy!"
Well your also not the only one this game has to appeal too. In the gaming world you must always look to expand the fanbase while keeping the loyal ones content. All in all, Barrett looks a ton of fun, I also like how he is just not some stuck-up kid with a terrible attitude. The fact that he is trying to help out the weakest gang is awesome to me.
Also I enjoy the people who think Capcom/Legends 3 team will screw this game up. Suddenly, when something looks weary to us, it's ok to criticize the developers that were involved with the previous Legends games. While Inafune is key, Legends had many other key people in it's development cycle. Most of them are back helping out with this game.
It'll all smooth over in time I guess. I remember around the time Sonic Adventure 2 was announced everyone hated Shadow the Hedgehog. But when people PLAYED the game, his popularity began to soar.

Like how Jagd Krabbe only appeared in the DASH2 Episode 1 and then not in the main game, right? I wouldn't feel too bad about CAPKobun either. He seemed pretty pumped about everything when the Bonne Mecha article went up.

Like how Jagd Krabbe only appeared in the DASH2 Episode 1 and then not in the main game, right? Just in case, I was being sarcastic since the bosses from the demos/prototypes have made it to the final games. :41: I do expect the fan-made boss to show up in the game proper with an improved arsenal of moves.

Yeah, I was sarcasmisg along with you. I thought it would be good to mention a specific example just in case Dash or anyone else was forgetting that. DASH2ep1 is probably a good reference point for what to expect in MML3PV, since that too was "more than just a demo".

Honestly, I don't see anything that backs up that claim. As Obelix would put it bluntly, BEST. REPLY. EVER. That DASH2 demo was pretty cool. The ruins were kinda disapoining but the Rescue Roll mission was awesome.
