Northern Japan was hit pretty bad by the tsunami. Tokyo had its buildings rattled and minor damage. They did lose power and an oil refinery to the east of them caught fire. Nuclear reactors have been shut down for safety reasons. No leakage detected yet.
They have had multiple aftershocks since then.
Kinako posted about it on her blog, seems Osaka just got shook up.
I'm praying for them folks over there.
More news trickled in death toll has risen and several fires have occurred across the country.

Phew, the Dev Team's alright. HF said he was fine, too, but to expect some delays in Rockman DASH Legends.
I think Rage was stationed in Japan. MLT's in Hawaii, too--they got hit at about 3AM Hawaiian time. I hope they're both alright.

I hope everyone is okay too, but I thought Hawaii was downgraded to an advisory.
My brother better be okay or I'll kill him.
Though I blame myself for not staying in touch with him.
EDIT: The quake has blew out the cooling systems for two of the reactors at Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima Daiichi power plant near Tokyo and the Tohoku Electric Power Co. facility in Onagawa.
They can't run enough water to cool the core and the heat is building up. The rods could melt and the entire core could melt. They say that as long as the reactor container functions well there shouldn't be any radiation leaks.
They are taking precautions just in case and have evacuated everyone in a 3 mile radius.

I was told there were "small waves" that washed up on Hawaii and California, but it was teacher gossip so I wouldn't trust it. I really hope the Japan MMLSers are all right... apparently the casualties in Japan have gone from the 60s to the 600s, but that's also according to teacher gossip so it's a heads up. Evacuations for Hawaii were given at about 10pm Hawaiian time so they had plenty of time to prepare in advance. Most of the time I stay out of news things like this, but when it's the hot topic in school, I fail to see why I shouldn't. :21:

Thank god for our armed forces. They are flying in coolant to the plants to keep them cool. I pray they don't overheat and melt.
The waves were 7 & 3 feet at Hawaii but they say they can get bigger as they continue.
I can't find reliable numbers for missing, dead or injured so I'll leave it out for now.
I really hope everyone is going to be okay.

I person I talk to, who lives there, says that it's still quaking over there (at least in their area...), and it's been 15 hours since it had started.
That's just way too long.

Still Man that is a long time I hope the aftershocks stop soon. Whoa...went and looked up some data. This quake is ranked as the 5th strongest magnitude quake ever recorded. Now I really hope they stop. Still haven't heard from my brother I'm hoping he will contact me later due to a timezone difference. Freaking flyboy.

Wikipedia currently lists 77 aftershocks...
And has updated it as the most deadliest earthquake of the year. Before it was New Zealand's earthquake in February.

I can still feel an aftershock every 5-6 minutes, but nothing dangerous.

I can't believe how bad it is out there. God I hope it's not as bad as it seems. I'll pray for the people of Japan and all the MMLSers out there.

Just to check in, I'm fine over here. Damage here was mostly limited to property near the coast. Thankfully, it wasn't nearly so bad as some were predicting.
Best wishes to those in Japan or elsewhere in the pacific.

Ah, HF, mlt! Good to hear from ya; it's a blessing you're all ok.
And I've been hearing some very bad news coming out of that side of the world, constantly streaming after that first report. It's quite disheartening to have to take this all in along with all the other controversies making the news show rounds. I'm hoping and praying for the safety and well-being of all the victims out there, as well as those still threatened by the earthquake or its aftereffects.
