Holy crap, it's Shift. lol I'd love to play with my buddies, even if it was just in a kick the can competition.. Yeah, man, seriously. After so long waiting for this game, it would be amazing if we were able to connect and play online with each other. That goes for anyone here, really. The more fleshed-out the multiplayer experience, the awesome-er, but I'd also settle for something small... xD If they can come up with some sort of friend-code system like the DS Pokemon series had for LAN play, it'd be awesome to be able to co-op with anybody, even though it may not be story-related. Hah. Friend Codes aren't just for Pokémon. That's the go-to online gameplay mechanism for any online games on the DS. If it has online play, there will most definitely be friend codes. Unless they use an online hook-up separate of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. (Don't know if any series has ever done that... or if it's even possible.)

I want this game to be single player, but if it were to have any multiplayer at all I would want it to be like Monster hunter, 4 player co-op.

Oh Gosh. A multi-player(or MP like the cool kids say it) thread and I wasn't around to leak my crazy theories? Well I've already talked plenty about it so hopefully I can be nice and neat with my thoughts. But first, I recall the official Japanese page having a list of details and one of the details was "Number of Players: 1(This may be subject to change)" and that caused a lot of people to wonder whether or not Capcom was considering MP. But that could of been a default text that the web designers use when the build a page for a game that is brand new, and they know nothing about it. I have no idea if this newest bit of news originates from there or not. Capcom can design whatever MP mode they want. It doesn't have to be a Monster Hunter clone but giving the success of the Monster Hunter(or MH like us cool kids say it) franchise and gameplay model it seems the most likely. For people who don't know what MH is: -It's an action game where you hunt monsters and collect their hides and such after you kill them. -You can use the material to craft new weapons. So it becomes a loot game where the tougher monsters have more valuable loot. -Certain monster are too strong to realistically take on by your self so you can team up with three other players and take him down. -Players can take different roles so you don't have to be an uber gamer(Dashe) to participate. There might be a healing class or a buff class who is making sure the other players are sane and healthy. That was a very bare boned description because I haven't actually played the games myself but I know enough about them. Just replace "Monsters" with "Reaverbots" and "animal hides, pelts, or horns" with "buster parts or broken items" and I think you can envision a version of that in the world of DASH. Maybe they can innovate of the formula by including a fifth player that can act as a spectator/spotter if they please. The same reason I expect the MP is probably the same reason Capcom is putting DASH 3 on 3DS. It's a safer bet than putting them on consoles cause (1)it'll cost less to make, (2)handheld gaming is far more successful in Japan, and (3)it might be easier to notice if they get it out earlier in the 3DS life span(when there's not many games out). That same mentality might lead to incorporating an enormously popular style of MP, such as the MH style. There's not guarantee but I feel it makes sense(granted, my mind is that of a lunatic, it seems ). But yeah, my main interest in Single Player(or Sp as us... whatever) so if god is listening, please focus on that.

Yeah, I've heard people absolutely rave about the multiplayer stuff from the Monster Hunter series. And just about everything I've heard about it sounds like something that would transfer very easily to the Legends series, and it would be awesome to the max. I've yet to actually try the games myself, though; it's one of those things that's been nagging at the back of my mind for like... years. Maybe one of these days. Still, if that ends up being part of the Monster Hunter influence on Legends 3 they were talking about [citation needed], it should be pretty interesting. It sounds like something they could have a lot of phun with.
For the sake of argument, do you have any idea how well the singleplayer game handles in Monster Hunter? (Or, is there even a singleplayer game?)

The single player component is very small, or bare bones, so it's difficult to compare these two games directly. We expect Legends 3 to have a satisfying SP with plenty of cut scenes and voice acting so if it were to have MH MP on top of that it would need to have a much bigger budget than the MH games, which is unlikely. If Legends 3 does have this MP it wouldn't be as in-depth as MH, since that is the only focus it has.

You know, I would get you Freedom Unite for Christmas, but knowing you it'd probably just collect dust . I highly encourage you to jump on it if/when 3 makes its' NA release. And yes, MH's mechanics would fetch very well if implemented into DASH's gameplay. They both have that rickety rotate system and some strafe, with the exception of lock-on. MH seems to have a lot in common with Dead Rising and even Lost Planet to an extent, showcasing a third-person POV with tight controls and wide visuals. Come to think of it... even the newer Resident Evil installments bear similarities to MH. I wouldn't be surprised if they borrowed a few ideas, it'd definitely help bring out DASH's stronger elements.

Yes, still. >__< And you're right, it probably would just sit and gather dust. I've been a bit better about that lately, but I'm still backlog’d quite a bit. And at the moment I don't even have my PSP. And the heavy emphasis on multiplayer is a bit of a turn-off for me because I wouldn't be able to find anyone to play with. And... this is all pretty off topic. I'm going to stop now. I'll have to look into that game sometime soon.

Shift: Y'know, Dead Rising, the newer Resident Evils and Lost Planet already use the MT Frameworks engine, and it was built with MML3 in mind; maybe that's why it feels like such a fit for the series? : o

Makes total sense. It must be a versatile engine, the games all feel related but still entirely unique to themselves. @pitch - Check Yahoo Japan Auction for cheap PSP-1000's. Other than that, all you'd need is a WiFi Max receiver and we could be hunting together in minutes Take yer time though, I know you'd rather invest in a 3DS atm, as would I ;D

I'd be fine with multiplayer if it was optional, but otherwise I wouldn't want multiplayer to be required in the actual game.

As someone who doesn't have anyone to play multiplayer with, I hope that multiplayer mode would be an optional part of gameplay. It would be quite frustrating if one couldn't finish the game just because it's essential to have more than one player to finish a certain section of the game.
One the other hand, multiplayer could also be a fun optional gameplay element. Like maybe two or more friends could explore the ruins together, or one might even get items you couldn't get as easily in single-player mode.

Yes, littleBIGPlanet has puzzles only two people can complete. I could see MML3 doing the same, but I would hate if there was some awesome item I couldn't get because of none of my friends having the game. I still think Monsterhunter style would work best.
