Just because it wasn't in Legends 1 or Legends 2, doesn't mean you can't imagine a reasonable scenario where it would work out. That's what Trege was trying to do here. But I think we're pretty narrow-minded if we have to limit ideas like this to something like a Wily-scaled NPC. It's not really cool if everytime someone tries to to come up with an idea, it gets shot down because it's bigger than Wily. :06: (But hey, maybe we'll be seeing some Wily-style NPC cameos in the Townspeople event) I don't even want to tell you what I think of the whole "Legends isn't really a MegaMan game," deal. ... So I won't. :07:

I don't really understand the hate for a small idea like I suggested, it's not like I'm saying add a whole classic character that will steal Trigger's spotlight and take over the game :06: I don't even think a cameo this small is that much bigger then Wily. An optional reaverbot fight that is hidden in a sub ruin, I mean reaverbot's are technically NPC's but you fight them.
And the suggestion I have wouldn't even have a cut scene it would occur like you re-fighting the bosses in the sub ruins like manda islands where the reaverbot just sorta charges after you no cut scene or anything.
(Although if I posted this in unity fanboys would probably try and de-rail the topic and screw around with the idea.)

Bitterness. Snob syndrome. A bit of both really. (You know, in a good way) After waiting so long for the sequel, there's some left over anger over the popular characters from other series. And a lot of people have quite a bit of pride about everything that made Legends unique. (i.e., Being as much unlike the other series as possible.) The fanboys don't help the case for cameos either, because they go making outrageous (read: stupid) requests. Fanboys' dumb requests really hurt the case for any ideas involving cameos, and any compromise solutions are just seen as ways to appease the fanboys. So, to counter the fanboys who go to one extreme, the hardcore Legends fans go to the other extreme, and... well yeah, polarized is the right word. That's about it in a nutshell. Dellis at CU actually put it pretty well, too. "...We had to watch Zero get game after game and even watch the Classic series come back from the dead before getting a new Legends game. When you spend a decade eating pizza, the last thing you want when you go shopping again...is pizza." It's harder to try and stay out of the extremes when Legends is literally the only Mega Man series you like enough to care about (though I'm thinking my sister and I are in a vast minority with that). I'm sure if we just got the game and it had a bunch of easter eggs in it none of us would probably pick up on it right away, nobody'd care. Some of us might not even notice, even. It's the fact that we're openly thinking up easter eggs that's bringing them into the forefront. Isn't that the opposite of what an easter egg really is? Obviously Capcom's going to put some in, but wouldn't it be nicer if they didn't reveal any details on it and left them for us to find on our own? Fans planning for and suggesting easter eggs just seems kind of backwards to me. Nothing against the thread itself, Trege. I know if I were playing the game, I'd have absolutely no clue the Reaverbots would even be based off of Protoman and Bass if you hadn't pointed it out.

Ah yeah, Trege, I like your idea, but I just don't see it happening with the game. Classic Character cameos aside, it also brings up some other weird subjects: do we want Volnutt to be able to wear weird and different armors in game, like a visored helmet, a scarf or a cape? You're bound to get some bad responses when it comes to that. ( Though you could probably get away with the scarf) And the idea's nice and small too which is nice — you're definitely not the first person to think of classic cameos as reaverbots, but most of what I've seen were Robot Master ideas. But even then, it's bound to just be seen as unnecessary. (It's a bit of a catch-22, really) Bit of a sidenote: NPC is probably a bad term, because just about every character other than MegaMan is an NPC. But reaverbots aren't really NPCs, so much as stage baddies. I think there's an important distinction there. But yeah... just a thought. (You're definitely right though. Don't give Unity fanboys the opportunity to hijack your idea)

Ehh I might not suggest anything to unity Dashe made a good point about surprise easter eggs being more fun. If Capcom ever did add anything I'd rather it be a surprise, which kind of makes me want to avoid unity just in case some ideas there are added.

That's about it in a nutshell. Dellis at CU actually put it pretty well, too. "...We had to watch Zero get game after game and even watch the Classic series come back from the dead before getting a new Legends game. When you spend a decade eating pizza, the last thing you want when you go shopping again...is pizza." Here's the kicker, though, Miss Dashe: Zero's series ended five years ago, and that was the last series-significant appearance of everybody's favorite red-clad swordsman. ZX continued the gameplay style, but you can't really hold that against them. And meanwhile, Zero himself is only present in the form of his biometal, and the emphasis on his role in the games is minimal at best. So really, we haven't had to see that much of Zero over the past ten years — at least not as much as you might like (or hate?) to think. And I can't say I'm mad that Classic MegaMan got a revival before we got our sequel. They waited longer than we did, technically — for the actual announcement, anyway. And besides that, being developed by IntiCreates and all, MegaMan 9 and 10 weren't tying up (whatever's left of) the DASH team in any significant way. So the classic blue bomber gets a pass, if you ask me. If anything, based on that reasoning, I think the main series to concentrate efforts on the anti-cameo front is Battle Network, which literally stole the spotlight, and distracted the DASH team for its six year run. ...but after all the DASH cameos that made their way into that series, could we do that in good conscience? I sure couldn't. Truthfully, apart from keeping us waiting so long for our sequel, Capcom's done very little in the past years that's disappointed me. (When I actually give it an honest look, they've done some pretty classy-cool stuff, really. Apart from the whole business with letting Inafune go; that was pretty tactless.) I think they could handle character cameos and such properly, even without having to keep everything scaled down to the Wily Standard™. I feel silly for having been so concerned about this before. As for easter eggs and whether or not those should be suggested by the fans, I'm a bit torn on that. For one, I didn't think you were actually going you were going to actually try to suggest this to Capcom, Trege. I thought you were just throwing ideas around. Ultimately, I think, if Capcom doesn't ask for input in a certain area, they're probably just going to ignore you anyway. But on the odd chance that they would be paying attention, even if suggesting this specific easter egg, may not be the best idea, based on whatever weird philosophy of easter eggs you guys are talking about, you never know. Maybe your idea will inspire Capcom in some way to come up with an idea of their own that's similar but different and all that jazz. So if anything, I'd say don't let it discourage you from posting it if you wanted to. But at the same time, I can't say I'd expect this idea to get a good response from the Unity devroom members.

I see, I see. Honestly, I am completely indifferent on deciding how cameos should be incorporated. I agree with Dashe and the others' 'philosophy of easter eggs' (can I steal that from you Pitch? I love it!) that easter eggs should not necessarily be a part of the fan input.
lol! Really though, why doesn't everybody just chillax about it? Zero or no zero, Capcom isn't dumb enough to have him or anyone else unnecessarily steal the spotlight from what we've all been waiting for.

'philosophy of easter eggs' (can I steal that from you Pitch? I love it!) Hah! Sure thing. Take it, it's yours. XD Really though, why doesn't everybody just chillax about it? Zero or no zero, Capcom isn't dumb enough to have him or anyone else unnecessarily steal the spotlight from what we've all been waiting for. Indeed. It seems silly to be so afraid of that happening now, but hey, it's been ten years; we don't really know what to expect from Capcom when it comes to this game. But I think either way, if this turns out to be the final chapter of the series (like Inafune may or may not have said :06:), Zero wouldn't have time to steal the spotlight if they did put him in the game; that's a process that takes at least a game or two. xD But you know, for the most part it wasn't Capcom most people were worried about; it was the fans. (At least, I think it was — that's what I was worried about anyway.) And it seemed like Capcom was going to be asking just about everything from them. I mean, they still might, really... there were interviews where they said they'd be looking for all kinds of stuff. Thankfully so far the events have been solid, interesting stuff, with very little potential to ruin the game. Let's hope it stays that way.

I'm at the point where I really don't care if they put a Zero/Bass/Proto man reference in the game because at the end of the day, I'm still going to buy the 3DS and Mega man Legends 3. Nothing will stop me.
If they would add something like that, it would just inspire me to write on how I'll plan his death once more. I would find it assuming if they made Zero like the Green Biker Dude from the X series. He shows up for five seconds looking cool then dies in nice hilarious fashion. Nothing would please me more...
If Capcom has to make cameos, they should do a Dead Rising cameo.
