As long as the Reaverbots stayed underground in the ruins, that'd be cool. Random encounters are a hassle, and the Reaverbots that would pop out of the ground in Legends 2 really annoyed me. It interrupted the mood, you know? You're walking and walking, and then out of nowhere, oh, hey! Jakkos? Way to interrupt the background music! :01: It turned me off to a lot of RPGs, too. Maybe if it didn't change the background music when they popped out, it wouldn't be so annoying. Really? Honestly, that was one of my favorite things about 2. It was a refreshing change in direction that kept the gameplay mechanics enjoyable. Also made it a helluva lot easier to gather zenny in certain areas. Day/Night system sounds fun, so long as it's not a crutch. It shouldn't interfere with the actual story arc, but I don't see how it couldn't. Key events of the story would have to occur at a specific time, regardless of what time you arrived to activate it. Personally, I would like more of a bounty-hunter-esque feature for sidequests, but that's a whole other topic entirely

I dunno, it seems sort of inappropriate to me. These things are better suited to games where time-of-day plays a significant role in the story and gameplay. Vampires come out at night in Castlevania II, Ocarina of Time, Amaterasu is a sun goddess, etc, etc.
With MML, I don't really see the relation, and I don't see it lending itself to the gameplay very well. It would seem tacked on and rather pointless.

I think it seems fitting enough even if it is just tacked on. In MegaMan Legends, you have a whole environment to explore and interact with that's almost completely separate from the actual plot and core gameplay. Day and Night cycles offer more opportunities for variations in NPC dialog/etc, maybe sidequests and other things to increase the immersion factor. They could have a lot of fun with that in creative ways ( phun even), and it doesn't have to affect the main game or story line at all, really. Although, a lot could go wrong with that I suppose. I'd just hope that it doesn't. Key events of the story would have to occur at a specific time, regardless of what time you arrived to activate it. Just curious, but why exactly is this?

Just curious, but why exactly is this? Animated cutscenes wouldn't make much sense chronologically. Say you're chasing the Bonnes through a plaza but decide to diverge from the quest for a bit. Then it's midnight upon returning to the main mission. It took an entire day to get across 100 feet? It's aesthetically nice and works really well with open-world games but, because of the nature of Legends' mission-to-mission gameplay it might disrupt the story.

It would be great, for the whole graphic aspect and the whole novelty of the different NPC quests and whatnot.
It would be annoying for me if it was synched to the real time clock in the system, because I usually play at night, so I would almost never see variety, and playing only night levels be dull for me.
What would be interesting is that time went on accelerated like in harvest moon, or something like in Zelda OOT.
I'm not sure how they could make it work, but a transition between day and night that's not scripted would add the game a great touch!!

Key events of the story would have to occur at a specific time, regardless of what time you arrived to activate it. Personally, I would like more of a bounty-hunter-esque feature for sidequests, but that's a whole other topic entirely I personally like both ideas. The key events situation could be used for extra "Side" scenes. Optional cutscenes that are pretty meaningless, but would vary up what you do each playthrough. The bounty hunter thing would be really cool as it would obviously add more gameplay, if they could pull it off right.
