Aw come on you guys, give Roll SOME credit, if it wasn't for her, Megaman would probably be long dead already! Not to mention, she does fight by his side sometimes, despite the danger involved.

You're right. No more scenarios from me where Roll insincerely apologizes to Rock for selling his stuff. Let's do one with Tron for once:
Tron: Hey you! You're traveling light to this battle. That ditzy blonde of yours pawn all your crap again?
Rock: ...I suspect so, yeah.
Tron: I'm sooo sorry you live with such a backstabbing cheapskate.
There. That makes things even, doesn't it?

Well, pawning off his stuff is much better than trying to kill him, isn't it? Lol, how in the world did this turn into a Roll-bashing thread?

Lol, how in the world did this turn into a Roll-bashing thread? Are you serious? Didn't this start as a Roll bashing thread? I thought it was supposed to be a Roll bashing thread. Considering it's about how or why you expect Roll will sell off your hard-earned equipment. o.o

I'm pretty sure it started out that way. *Points to the poll options*
I'm really just joking around though, as is mostly everyone poking fun at Roll. Didn't we already go over this a page or two ago?

@green-Haha, you seem very selective to the view of this being an exclusive "Roll-bashing thread." But then again, it's to be expected of a Roll-hater. =P
When I made this thread, I was just wondering what weird excuse Capcom would give us this time for the weapons reset, not necessarily blaming Roll for it, and maybe exploring other possible reasons/culprits, but I guess the poll was what made people suspect it would be Roll's doing once again.

If I had to guess, I bet they used the parts to make the spaceship.

One which I would want to believe: Rock uses ALL of his Weapons in the long fight all the way to Sera, dumping used or broken equipment in the process.

LOL I applaud you for digging up this thread HF. *Points at Roll*
No comment. They sold the "over" 9,999,999 Z upgraded shining laser to finance the rocket-building.
Yea Pitch, 2,500,000 is still a hefty sum. lol

Really, I never saw the point of Capcom addressing the continuity error, it leads to a lot of weird stuff when you try to explain obviously meta things that people just accept for fun sake (See Other M's attempt to explain both the loss of powers, and the non loss of the at the same time).
No one asked Lan where all his chips went, (from the two I played), no one questioned Mega Man/X not keeping is Robot Master Powers, No one wonders why Mario hasn't just bought the world with his coins.
It's just a detail no one would have really cared about has they not brought it up. ^^;
That said, They'll likely say they were sold to pay for the Rocket. But here's my question, who bought these things and where can I find them to buy back my stuff instead of making Roll play MacGyver with a Plunger, Sack of Hammers, and a old ham radio to make a bazooka.

@ whitewindow: Maybe the chips just 'self-terminate', much like Arcade machines when the timers reach a certain date.

Truth be told, people do wonder about these things more often than not, and the effort to actually explain them is appreciated. For the record, we do know that X at least keeps his weapons, since he busts out the X4 ones when you fight him in X5. I've always believed that the character might still have whatever upgrades from the previous game (unless otherwise stated), but you're simply not given access to them for gameplay reasons.
As for Roll selling the weapons. it's possible that they still could be floating around some other islands, maybe even being used for different purposes. Both the Shield and the Kattelox Bell that you donated to the curator are seen on display inside of Nino's Junk Shop, so I'd assume that inter-island commerce is pretty common, even moreso by the time of MML3.

I understand imagining classic MM, X, and EXE burning out their weapons/equipment on final bosses. I occasionally indulge in that concept for my personal canon (though pretending that happens in every game kinda wears down the novelty of it, gotta spice things up every now and then.)
Problem with Legends though is that Rock can only carry one special weapon at a time. Burning them out over the course of the whole story doesn't quite make sense, because after the first couple of missions you would think Roll would be clubbing him with her wrench telling him to stop tossing all that expensive equipment that she could just recharge and repair if he would just take it back to the Flutter with him. He would need an excuse to drop many at once without making a habit of it, so he would need a way to actually carry more than one.

Roll would be clubbing him with her wrench telling him to stop tossing all that expensive equipment... Are you by any chance a Full Metal Alchemist fan? Because that would most certainly pass as a Winry reference. Personally, I think the Data idea from the beginning of this thread (too lazy to check who wrote it) was much overlooked. While Roll and Tron fail to build a rocket, Data uses the old weapons to make his own!

And then the rocket flies halfway around the planet and explodes with Data inside? Yeah, nice way to lose our save point. XD
I for one prefer having the ol' "Roll sold your highly-priced equipment to build the _______ so you have to play MacGuyver" system. MacGuyvering stuff is totally awesome.
So long as we get a Chainsaw Arm in MML3, I'm happy. And if not, I'm still gonna have fun playing it.
