My sincerest apologies for failing to make an appearance in this thread sooner. I'm not even sure where to begin commenting... Well, to start with the negativity bit, I don't care much for (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this) the whole "punkish" thing. That title screen? @__@;;; That said, who am I to question anybody's artistic inspirations, especially when they lead to the production of something this grand? And it is indeed grand. Silent though I may have been all this time, through my routine checking of the forums' 15 most recent posts I have watched the progression of this game and have been slightly amazed over and over again as each new screenshot has been revealed. By the laws of simple mathematics, all those slightly amazed moments have added up to a lot of amazement. Truly, your work on this project, the artwork in terms of both quality and volume are nothing short of extraordinary and the ongoing dedication you've shown so far should be an inspiration to us all. The "treasure box" concept of the game also sounds promising if you can pull it off well. Great gameplay is, well, great, but even if you can't pull that aspect off, Punkman DASH will surely stand strong enough on visuals and exploration alone. Please keep up the good work and pace! BTW, the initial post mentions tying up a few loose ends for a demo release. Any comments as to when that might be at this point? Just curious, I don't think it's been mentioned anywhere since in this thread. I'm really glad you have an interest in it. I'm mostly doing this game as a test of my own will, so I don't let the lack of other people's interest get to me. But man, am I surprised to get feedback from you. I can understand the resentment a lot of people have for the punk genre. I grew up listening to it, mostly the underground stuff. The mainstream and "skater" crap really gets me P.O.'d (for lack of a better word that doesn't get censored >_>) I haven't actually listened to any punk rock since middle school. I mostly decided it would be fitting for the game's tongue-in-cheek humor. I'd like to have something more presentable for a demo now than I did before, so those "loose ends" that need to be tied up have multiplied a few times since I started this thread. For the demo I'd like to have the intro, one side quest, one dungeon and one weapon to be built so you get a taste for every aspect of the game. Scripts, my friend. Scripts. Lot's of 'em that allow one frame to be used as an "Idle" frame. OK, nm. I found one: www.rmxp.org/forums/index.php?topic=7563.0Normally I get horrible results when looking for things. Especially when I don't know the proper word for something specific, like "idle" frame. I probably would have searched for "standing" frame. Not sure if that's better or worse but I have a feeling that's why I suck at searching for scripts. You're clearly the guy to ask help from. I'll be sure to bother you if I run into any script problems. ;D

'Morning! I thought I'd start the day off by showing a few boring things. Just to show I'm still working on it. Karumuna BASH chasing spritesheet (WIP): Obviously that stride will have actual legs when it's finished. I'm just using some crudely drawn stick legs as something of a guide, so I can get a feel for how a canine actually runs before doing the actual thing. I did a pretty crappy job, though. In fact, disregard the frame on the far right. ITS A TARP!!1 I love how the traps in MML1 are lit from underneath, but they still cast a shadow on the ground. WTF. I'm doing the ruins right now, but the WIP size is way too big to show. You guys seen the beta ruins from the MML1 artbook? commanderxgreen.googlepages.com/artbook_low.zip They're a lot like those ones.

EDIT: Also, if you have any ideas for game mechanics that you think can be done through scripting, tell me and I'll try and see if there is a script made for it.

It never dawned on me to search youtube for some reason. Now I'm starting to see some errors in my approach. That's actually a pretty insightful reference. Thanks a bunch. This game looks great so far, cant wait until you drop a demo. Thanks, I'll probably end up doing a few demos as the game progresses. The intro is loooong, and the game doesn't really become non linear and open ended until about a third of the way through, methinks. And there will not only be demos, but possibly add-ons once the game is finished. So it won't necessarily end with the full version. This screenshot lacks piggies and several foreground items. And Rock. I still can't find him...

- Obstacles such as a primitive MML1 trap and explosive Foo Roo reaverbots
- The unfinished "Steamboat Willy" scene
- Two of the finished "sideview" hub areas
- Piggies
WHAT NOT TO EXPECT...
- Very elaborate battles
- A story line. It's pretty much a demonstration of how some maps might look
- Any amount of polish whatsoever
I'm open to criticism, but just know that I'm keen to the more obvious bugs. But let me know what you think! Or not. I know how you kids are with actually posting anything in these forums.

You're going to need tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng/download.html to play the game. Install their standard deal, not the rpg maker. Most people, especially me, don't want to download or buy rpgmaker to play the game. See if you can include the files as stand alone for the full release version.

Oh my, I was not expecting that. Greedy Enterbrain. They could have easily made it so the rgss and rtp stuff was all bundled up with the game when you compress it, but no. Every time I stumble across a way around it in some forum or another, it's full of dead links or false info. Just my luck o__o I'll find a way, eventually. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
