If it wasn't because it asks me to install no more than two things i won't ever need, i'd play it.

That reply belongs in the official 'pygame vs game maker battle' discussion thread. Later, you won't not have to not install more than two things, though, because panda3d comes with an installer generator.

That reply belongs in the official 'pygame vs game maker battle' discussion thread.. No, it belongs to "i'm a normal human being that does not wish to install two things that will be used once", i don't only use GameMaker to do my games you know, i also use multimedia fusion 2, Construct and others. :U

If you end up liking the game, you will use them many times Anyway, I only put the thread up for people who are interested, so they can see and comment about it. It's not for people that aren't interested. If you want to complain about having to download two pieces of software to play a game, post it in the 'pygame vs game maker' battle thread.

Make sure to watch in full screen HD!
This is the new demo, running in panda3d. This just shows all of the different buster settings (ATK, ENG, RNG, RPD), which should be close to the real game. I added a fifth setting SPC, which increases the spin on the shots. This blows enemies back more upon impact.

Looking good man. Will he keep walking when he shoots in the future or you'll make him stop?

He doesn't have to walk when he shoots. He has a still shooting position I didn't record. I'm keeping him in place for now, so I can work on his animations.

Hey, you can play the demo online now. Steps: 1. download the panda3d plugin www.ddrose.com/~drose/plugin2. play on firefox legends demo (if it asks you what to open the file with, say firefox, or internet explorer or whatever)

Really cool. ;D Except I think this is more of an engine test than a demo of the game. You don't seem to actually move anywhere... Plus I think you ought to make the directional buttons the standard WASD, not ESDF. They're also not up down left right, they're north east south and west; even if the camera changes, the directions don't change in relation to it.. A bit awkward and unnecessary, like, Resident Evil controls. I was looking at this the other day as a matter of fact, and I was wondering what became of the project. I think it's safe to say it's got a long ways to go, right? But keep it up. It's pretty good as a WIP. Obviously things are missing from it.

Dude, finals at an engineering school. I haven't done a thing since the last video. I'm working on a steam system simulator, also in panda3d, for school so its taking my time.
The panda3d people at Disney just made a browser version of their engine, so I thought I'd try it out. There's a lot more going on behind the scenes than what has been incorporated into the demo, and hopefully I'll be able to put it all together some time. I'm glad you're interested!

That's cool, I'm not ragging on you for going at your own pace. But if you're gonna go to the trouble of uploading a demo, it probably wouldn't hurt to add a little more info so you don't get redundant feedback for what you already know is missing from it. ^^; A little more presentation couldn't hurt is all I'm saying. Hey, no problem. The amount of dedication for these things can be pretty demanding. The fact that you invest any amount of time in it at all is noteworthy, IMHO. Keep it up.

For a quick update, I'm still working on the game. I did some code today and fixed up the model. I reorganized it to work better in Panda3d and also lowered the polygon count from 2200 to 500 so it can run better on slow computers when it goes on the internet.
