Not saying we should set up a specific time or date or anything, but it'd be nice to have some vague idea when people are even gonna be on. I might pop in if I knew when to expect others. I put the irc so I could discuss game development with people who are interested in that, but everyone else can use it for whatever they want. I won't yell at anybody;) Anyway, its a good way for people to get to know each other better than on the forum, if that's what they want. I gotta few things to show off, if anyone's interested.

I've been working on the game for a while, but the updates are mostly just game mechanics. So, since there is nothing more to show for now, I haven't been on. There usually aren't a lot of people on anyway (the controversy was a little ridiculous ), which is something I hope will change. So, the channel is back up, as often as I can keep it up. I'm changing the 2d with 3d sprites demo into real 3d (it will be much easier to do cameras and such). Probably be done in a month or two, so until then I'll be on the irc more than the forum, probably. @bret: I'm interested! BTW, check out my new spider bot:

So um. QT and I were looking into possibly officializing and discussing responsibility and the terms and conditions of running the site under the regulation of volunteer persons with the recognition of Legends-Station staff to support this IRC. QT was one of the moderators for the Devroom IRC chat, which I could vouch for as being a community-user-friendly experience with very manageable and sufficient moderating on his part as well as the crew that moderated the Devroom IRC chat.

I've some experience in running IRC channels. The big question is, what network is the channel on/going to be on. I'm already part of an IRC community on one network, and I'd like to avoid having to hop back and forth. However, I can run a channel if no one else has time.

Applying Chat/Shout Boxes to a forum is very easy. I'll never understand why most forums don't have one... *Would wink, but instead falls asleep*

Probably irc.freenode.net they allow channels for forums, with the right irc client you can connect to two irc servers at once.

Personally I'd rather not have a cbox built directly into the MMLS boards, because knowing this community, everyone would stop making actual posts and just use the cbox. Once Proboards v5 hits, it'll be a mad dash to patch the automatically-included cbox and all that jazz so the boards themselves don't turn into a ghost town. You're more than welcome to set up an outside, independent IRC if you'd like. I don't imagine I'd ever use it myself, since we have iScribble sessions and all (though in my opinion they are becoming too frequent to feel special much anymore). It'll probably end up like the old Vegas philosophy we use on the iScribble boards, where what happens in iScribble/IRC stays there.

Servbot is ready to go, its running on my friends server and servbot's uptime has been good. It sounds like there is enough current intrest in irc but more input would be good. one of the failings of the Devroom irc was over regulation. At the very least I want to ditch the swearing policy, it just encouraged it. I also don't know if the irc chan that duo set up is still up and running, if it is we can just go there.

I dont think that the IRC would kill the Station, but instead would help it come alive. The IRC channel for the Devroom acted as a quick getaway to the Devroom's current activity. Sometimes it would be used to spark debates that would give birth to constructive topics that could be discussed in the Devroom.
Plus, I believe that the IRC channel would function as the chat room that the Station staff would rather not have in the Station as stated in the policies thread. So the IRC would prevent that from happening.

Yeah, as long as it's not built into the station, I'm okay with it. I don't think it'll do much for these guys' initiative regarding topic-starting, but if it'll help make the newer folks think up ideas for topics, that'd be great.
Or you guys could just check out iScribble. We don't bite there, and there's probably a board up now since it's a weekend evening.

I've got a full licensed copy of mIRC, and I'm on the Darkmyst network all the time. I can set up a channel for non-weekend chats.

Well servbot is kind of tied to one server right now and thats freenode, its changeable but then servbot has to leave the current channel and thats run by the guy who is currently running the server that servbot is on. I thought i had servbot on multiple servers at one point but the documentation for servbot says it can't be :24: So freenode it is besides Qwertman registered #MMLStation on freenode on Aug 31 So lets just use that so lets see thats: webchat.freenode.net/?channels=mmlstation&uio=d4or irc://irc.freenode.net/#mmlstationor /server irc.freenode.net /join #mmlstation ---Edit--- After an all nighter ServBot is up at limited capacity, at the moment I need to fix the !stats command, and probably a few others but the stats are working dl.dropbox.com/u/19858677/stats/mmlstation.htmlit has a basic ai so you can talk to it by including ServBot in your sentence Use: !commands For a list of commands like I said some are probably broken at the moment

What does ServBot do? Is it just a MML-themed IRC bot?
