Yay! Now the continous thread making about two presidents that are basically the same thing can finally cease from appearing in my internets! Praise Xenu! Well americans, enjoy your new president. Let's see how long it will take until everyone starts flinging rocks at him like everyone does on Bush.

Mir@k: I give it a couple months until the novelty wears off and we realize he's just another president and not the second coming of Christ himself. I'm curious to see how this works out, but a smarmy politician is a smarmy politician, no matter what color he is. I wish I could share in the optimism and excitement. But I can't. I'm done raining on the parade now.

I could care less what color skin he has. What I like about Obama is that he's perfect for our generation. He's not afraid to step forward instead of reach back. He'll make the necessary changes we need for an ever changing country.
And unlike a lot of people, I realize he's only human. But he's a human with the right ideas.
Not sure where all these Christ comparisons keep coming from. >_>

Yay nice to know hes going to try and cut off the money to our troops, also nice to know hes going to try and remove the missile defense system. *sarcasm* and tax the heck out of us, but I won't rant anymore everyone has they're own opinions and I respect that.
I don't think color matters either, I focus on what the next president wants to do with our country, And I don't like Obama's ideas on it.

Color does matter, is actually his color one of the things that hyped up the most. "Like, a BLACK man for president? OH JAYSIS BEGORRAH!" That's also one of the many meanings of the leyend "Make a change". Everything's related.

Eeep. @ Mir@k: Just because it's hyped doesn't mean it matters. Most of my friends and family are tired of all the "Black this", "Black that" that's been thrown around on the news throughout the duration of this election. Frankly, I consider that racism. It just seems a bit... separatist to me. It shouldn't matter and it doesn't. @ Trege: I totally understand where you are coming from with all the tax stuff. To be honest, it bothers me too. But I'm all for gay unions, stem cell research and having work available to me, so... Maybe he's not your president, but he's mine and I'm relieved for the time being. If anything, this should be interesting. Not to mention "medicinal" marijuana. That's always good.

Yeah, it's racist indeed, but that's america at it's finest. It would have been the same if the candidate was a woman, though Xenu thankfully didn't bring that upon us. Not because i don't want a woman for president, but because of the feminist bull that would be populating the streets right now, ew. At least no one of the black community started a riot about it, i'm actually happy that black people are allowed to be presidents and stuff, sometimes what america can do scares me. It shouldn't matter, but again, that's the white supremacy. A sad sickness, but it still exists nowadays. It's funny, i'm talking about politics that doesn't involve or concern me. Awesome.

As far as I'm concerned, I'll wait and see how Obama handles the presidency for a while before I indulge in any cheering political hoopla.
Having finished political science a few months back, I'm curious to see what changes he'll do that will be beneficial overall. It's only after the dust settles than one can really judge how someone does as president, IMO.
There is one thing I do agree with, we need someone who can step forward, regardless of color. The next move is his...

I had a feeling that there would be a thread on this here. I for one, am pretty happy. I was somewhat surprised to see him win by such a large margin.

While I don't think that him being black is the most important issue, it still has some impact, especially seeing the fact that he won. He did make some pretty big history.
I do agree that you shouldn't vote for a person just because he's black, though. I know some people who wanted Obama on-sight just because he was black. The issues are what the important part is. Me personally, I'm black and live in a largely black community; a lot of people would probably shoot you a dirty look if you mentioned that you voted McCain, and I believe that's largely a racism issue as well.
I disagreed with both parties on some issues, like the fact that Obama supports abortion and gay marriage, which I don't. However, it really came down to the question of "Which party is more suited to lead the country"; and the VP was a heavy factor as well. If something were to happen to either candidate, then you'd have to ask yourself if Palin or Biden could take over. Obama's ticket won me over with those factors in consideration.
Although I couldn't vote (missed it by 8 days ), I"m pretty happy with the way everything went.

Well, I didn't vote for him, I'll leave that at that. XD
But anyways, four years to see how he does. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
