AHHH NOOOO, I hate astro boy with a passion, mostly the animation, that kind of animation just is really annoying.. Those eyes and the porportions icky icky! Kind of like the animation in Metropolis, This thing that has this really great story line and plot and dialogs has the pooiest character design, oh i just DONT like that stuff at all.

Sorry to crash your world Shell, but Astroboy was the very first Manga in the general sense to be created. If it never existed than it's a good bet that the entire Megaman series would never have been created.

P-SHAW! Mega Man is like God... in an abstract sense. Now my personal beliefs are not going to be shared here, and most likely they aren't wanted, but for most religions they keep reinventing god through the ages. Long ago there were hundreds of gods for everything, not so long ago there was only one god, who (with the Nicene creed) was sort of three things in one. That is if he wasn't everywhere at everywhen. It got really confusing. But now, on a vastly general level, for majority of the third planet there is no god, there is no magic (though it seems to be resurfacing as a vice) and everybody, in the words of one news anchor, seems to be doing their own thing.
But with Mega Man specifically, there have always been Megamen, the most infamous being the German Super Human (bad bad) and the most ill proportioned being Astro Boy. I do hate to agree with someone so thoroughly as I agree with shelldragon here (it's against who I am) but while I've kept my nose clean enough not to hate him with a passion, if Astro Boy is the metal underwear brandishing, three foot tall, cult sensation that I recall then HOLY COW! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING DARK ENIGMA! True he was the first magnanimous anime, but if he had not been then Mega Man still would have come about. Maybe not as the Blueboy we know and love (in a certain sense of the word) but its not like the 78 Garfield compared to the 82 Garfield, Mega Man and Astro Boy are not directly related. God Forbid. Don't take offense; I'm not tying to be mean, but Astro Boy? Ugh...

Ok ok I did a little more studying on astro boy and Mega Man. It turns out that both original cartoons were made in the same decade, but im still not sure which came first. But i'm leaning to towards Astro Boy (Ugh) because it jst looks like it was earlier. But Mega Man is still my hero in all aspects, I'm mean can Astro Boy Absorbbs his enimes techniques, NO he cant but then again Mega Man cant fly. But still Mega Man is teh best hands down.

I realize it's been around since the very beginning but ag, it just is so ugly, just like I hate old retro style cartoons with the same kind of eyes, they just freak me out. I feel like they are gonna turn on fire and eat my soul.

Turn on fire and eat your soul? Now Betty Boop's head might be a little large for my taste, but long ago, when my enitre clan would pack into a single van, ready for three weeks of fun, sun and oh so much driving, a six inch TV screen ducked taped to a VCR duck taped, in turn, to the floor and three hour and an half video's of 'classical cartoons' was the only thing that kept the lot of us from... Well I don't know what we would have done but it wouldn't've been pretty.
I can see where you're coming from but still; I advise you not to worry about things sucking your soul out. Even in cases of modern culture where some writer, director or its portrayal in any manner is responsibly close to displaying 'soul sucking' they are still so far off it's almost as if they were disinformation agents.
I guess you can't change who you are, but when it comes to Astro Boy I conceder MMI. It's really pretty bad. Okay Boys and Girls! Who wants to go wander a block maze endlessly for little or no good reason!?!WE DON'T However first generations are usually pushing it as far as today's standards go. Now given MMIX has fallen from my graces but MMVII was epic.
Hate it you may, and retro is 'no-no' in my book (Classic retort: I've never read that book before <What Book?> Things Losers say) but I'm trying to master soul sucking so please, if you haven't tried it don't knock it.

OH GAWD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Even if they are related, at least they don't resemble each other.
Astro Boy is some little fruit (my name for little kids) who runs around in his underwear all day.
Megaman is the cutest thing to happen since the evolution of the cat... (from an insane fangirl's point of view... X3)
But I believe that I heard that Astro Boy was one of the 1st animes, if not the very first. So without Astro Boy, there'd be no Megaman, most likely. But you could say the same thing for just about all anime. So yeah, they probably are related, but not as close as ya think.

Upon further inspection it would appear original drafts of Megaman have pants that are almost as high but lets just hope its some coincidence. Or a trick of the eye. Gwaaa, it's time to lay Astro Boy to rest so we can revere his memory without actually having to like him. BTW if you call kids fruits to you call the elerly vegtabels? A fitting name if any.

Actually, if I remember correctly, I heard in an interview that Mega Man was inspired by Astro Boy- or was it vice-versa? The character designer (can't remember his name- shame on me) for Mega Man has admitted using other characters for inspiratin (nothing wrong in that) look at Elec Man and Wolverene (I'm 100% shure of that one!).

*Shudders*
Nessbound, Please... If you don't like Megaman just say so and we'll get over it, but don't compare a family-fun-for-everyone role model like Megaman to a shirtless blunder like Astro boy, I mean you don't see me comparing Juno to Mistress Sera, because that would be gender bending, and just wrong. If Astro boy was part of the Megaman inspiration then lets just forgive Megaman for what he was and love him for what he has become. Anybody who's played through the Megaman Twentieth anniversary can tell you that. Especially after Megaman IV, the last level has seven segments and twelve end guys, TWELVE! ! ! I almost had a cow when I realized the passcode stopped changing.

Legends has nothing to do with the other megaman games(besides being in the future, says so in another post)so even if the other games were remotely related astroboy this one isn't... I hope.

50% sure 50% not sure hmmmm.... by thinking of it it's hard but why did you ask? didn't you see megaman's drawing is different from astro? when it's summer I'm watching astro boy until 4 am in the morning it's pretty tiring you know that I like anime but looks like I hate astro boy it's getting pretty weird as it goes on and on not like megaman it's getting more great when it goes on and on!
