Well, you have to start somewhere… and he was asking for help starting his site, not advertising (If he was advertising, I’d see your point about not having any avatars and the such). You probably should read the FAQ though… knowing how your forum works is part of being an Admin. Also, it won’t be easy, especially if you get any Allys or Fades…Moving on, you can get FF avatars here

They have some good ones. They aren’t all good, but still. And Hotlinking is BAD. You’ll have to host them somewhere to use them so…

Another site. They have some nice avatars, just remember not to hotlink.
Finding MML avatars is going to be a bit harder. Most of fab’s look like they were made using screenshots and some editing here and there, so you could always try and ask him if he will allow you to use some.
As for rules, you can, if I remember, use them as a template but you have to write them in your own words. You can’t just copy and past.
As for the site… well, change the color scheme for one thing. It reminds me too much of the Outcast Alliance. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, good. It all has to do with Damage128…
But moving on, once that’s done you might want to add some more content aside from a welcoming area. Most people will join a forum if it interest them, but if all they see is an “Introduce yourself here” thingy then they’ll pass it by. If it’s going to be FF centered, then make a section for each game where you can discuss it. That way you might catch some hapless fan’s interests. Other than that, there isn’t anything else for me to say, so I’ll shut up now…

Listen well to the advice given! GustaffGlyde certainly seems to know what he's talking about and took the time to sit down and write it out thoroughly.
Oh, and he's right about the rules. You're welcome to use them as a guide, and even make yours have the same system, just write it out in your own words.
