I just figured out how to rip models from the n64 game, although they come out squashed. After unsquashing though, they turn out nice. I put this one in blender as it comes with a game engine. Pretty cool I guess.

Hmm... This could prove to be very useful to the Ex staff... You should notify JMC (unless he's already aware of it)

I'm pretty sure they can't use the actual models from the games anyway..
but didn't someone do this already and put them in Unreal Tournament something or other?
Hah. But that "hand" there is the most disgraceful thing I've ever seen. Good job, Capcom. He looks like he's holding a Pineapple.

They took the skins, not the models.
Also, I said that it might be helpful. I don't remember ever mentioning them using the models from the game as their own.

That's okay man, didn't say you did. But honestly? A two year old could make a better model than Capcom's. Though, actually seeing those without the horribly low-res textures, they actually don't look that bad.

Well considering the year the game was made, I'd have to say that the models are pretty top-notch.
At any rate, I still think that it'd be a good idea to show these to JMC and the rest of Ex. It might help them get a better understanding of the size, or shape of certain areas.

This is the MMLEx section, after all, is it not?
And, Legends' models weren't that good, even back in '98. Compared to the models of other Playstation games of the time they were really crap: low polygon count, low resolution textures.. ugh. Not that it mattered that much.

Yeah, there was already a topic about that. MML is for gameplay, not super graphics. We came to the conclusion that making a mml game is probably illegal in the first place, so grabbing some models isn't that big of a deal.
Besides, low polygon is good for games. I could always round out the model and snazz it up, but it would slow the game down.

MMLEx will not feature graphics from the original games. The models we have in our databases are far higher quality than those from MML1 and MML2. This model ripping thing isn't new either...
I figure model ripping and using is no worse than sprite ripping, so its not like I'm against using it for that reason. I just think that the graphics engine that MMLEx runs can support more, so we should give it more than a low polygon, low resolution model.
Thank you for the suggestions, but I refuse to use MML1's models.

That's all right. I wasn't talking about mmlex specifically. I was mentioning it here to see if people were interested in grabbing their own models, for their own games or whatever. Not everyone has the ability to make a game of the same calibre that this game is shooting for. For those less skilled, it would be faster to rip models and spend more time on the story and other stuff.

I know I'm bumping this topic about 3/4's of a year later. Sorry. But I think I have the right to, in this case. I am considering using those types of models in my "MML-SEG fan game (check out its slow progress in the Misc. Fan Works section). Yeah, yeah, I know it has kinda bad graphics. But I don't give a freak. I'm sure everyone will realize that a game's quality gives it its greatness. Plus, I WANT to keep the original MML games' charms... for now, at this stage in my development. Anyway, did you actually RIP the models in the form of a program/model file, or is this just screenshot-taking? (I'm pretty sure it isn't the latter...) Any chance of posting the models? I'd like to take a look at what you have. Don't post any more than you already have: I might not use them. Cooperation would be greatly appreciated. ;D

Well first off let me say, looks like i came in little to late for this entier scene lol
So i have thought about an extention\addition to the MML games, well since they came out
Basically i always tackle more than i can handle when it comes to things like this (exp. i once tried to make my own OS from scratch, which i did and all it did was play mp3's lol alot less than i expected)
In anycase, i just want to mess around with the models from the games, see what i can change Im not about to make an engine from scratch, i more like to edit things to my liking, however i can't open any models, if they are even meant to be opened in the first place
I have the ARM00L.bin file (i can use any of the files, i just pulled that one) now i dont know if thats actually part of a model, i imagine it is, or something else, but i am trying to view it and i can't with any program i know of.
I have seen talk on this site about model ripping, i would like to know more about that, if anyone would help me out there
Basically my end goal is to: Extract Trigger's model and reassemble it (just normal arms) Clean up the model, clear the sharp edges, adjust the face, ect ect Try to shove the model back into the PSX game and run with ePSXe because the engine can actually handle better models than are in the game, and emulating the PSX on the computer gives more processing power for the "PlayStation" to work with to render the image
All in all, im trying to see how far i can push the PSX engine with better graphix
So any help with anything would be greatly appreciated, and any help i can give in return, just let me know
Thanx guys (and gals?)

My guess would be to start searching from scratch on Google. =sigh= That'll take a while.
Come to think of it, there is a page on this here forum site that has dead links to a bunch of ripped Rockman Dash/MML models. Phoo.
There's an infamous member here called "Musashi" that you might try asking for help from... Trust me. He might know something...

well good news, i got to thinking about it, and realized..... All playstations file headers are screwed up........ (keep people like me out of there i guess.... losers)
in any case, i found a few programs that would help, and used the PC version of legends (i didnt know they had one out) and was able to extract files to TM, BD, and a few other obscure formats, now the process of converting comes to play
good stuff, i was able to view the MAP_A1.BIN file, i cant make it out yet, but i can see it (lol i dont know which ruins it is)
EDIT: the extentions relate as follows for the MegaMan models Bitmap Images - TM Models - BD
im working on how to view\edit the BD files, haven't come up witha anything yet the TM files need to be converted, i found a program for that (they have other ext. ill update when i find out what they are)
and if anyone has a link to a page with this info already, please post it thanx
