I was just wondering what program(s) you might be using to create the game? I might be able to help I have experience with: Noobish ones: Game Maker, RPG Maker, Hamster game studio. Advanced ones: 3D Game studio, Ray game designer, notepad (xp). and others... ...But i think a custom engine will be used.

RPG Maker is not noobish! You can create advanced stuff in XP thanks to a little thing called RGSS.

RPG Maker is not noobish! You can create advanced stuff in XP thanks to a little thing called RGSS. Your reason is moot, it's still n00bish, it's designed for people who knows 0 of programming, you can make advanced things if you have the knowledge, yes, but most people dont, ergo, is n00bish.

Dude................not really. Most people who even CAN finish a game in RPGMaker have advanced knowledge of what it can do. I mean, there are plenty of games that could surpass commercial 2D RPGs easily.

Anyone with advanced knowledge would not be using RPG maker period. Real developers either use expensive engines (I wish I knew what they had, I really do. Why are they so great?) or make their own. Even most people who are amateurs will say RPG maker is for n00bs. Its not as bad as Game Maker or Games Factory, but it is. But with all those programs you must remember that great things can be done on them with a stroke of genius... and a stroke of luck. It would still require a lot of work though.
And I agree with another thing said... notepad is an advanced program ;D.

And I agree with another thing said... notepad is an advanced program ;D. *applausses* When i learned how to do games with it, i was quite surprised with the quality that little program wich people usually ignores has. In fact, it was so hard at first that i downloaded "notepad +" (i'm sure you heard of it, a notepad that colors the code areas by itself) to have the hang of things, later i made a little tank game and got bored.
